Wrist pain from mouse usage?
in Health ·
Hey everyone, what's up?
So, since I’m basically glued to my computer for 10+ hours a day, I guess I'm starting to feel the fallout. My work involves software where I'm constantly using both hands at once—left hand on the keyboard, right hand on the mouse (and no, I'm not just gaming all day). I end up using that scroll wheel way more than I probably should.
Switching the mouse over to my left hand isn't really an option for me because all my shortcuts are hardwired for the left side. I wouldn't be able to juggle everything smoothly if I tried to swap hands just to give one side a break.
From what I can tell while browsing around, it doesn't feel like carpal tunnel. My wrists aren't hurting and I don't have any numbness or tingling. The issue is actually deeper in my forearm; it feels like this constant burning sensation inside. It gets especially bad when I'm scrolling, which seems to be happening constantly.
But, here's what I actually wanted to ask you guys. Do you think picking up a drawing tablet might help fix this? Instead of gripping a mouse, I'd be using a pen, which I assume would be a much more natural posture.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
*Just to clarify, when I say tablet, I don't mean an iPad or those other little toys. I'm talking about a graphics tablet to replace my mouse, something like this:
