Which bank should I choose for a new account? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Robin Diaz4 said:I totally lost it when I went to pick up some checks at a local branch, only for them to tell me I could only collect them at the specific branch where I originally opened my account...

Ugh, yeah, that drove me absolutely insane too.
It’s like you always have to trek back to your home branch for everything.
With Hypo, it’s so much easier—you can just walk into any branch and get things done.
If I'm down in Miami, I should be able to handle my business right there.
I seriously don't get why you'd have to go back to a specific location if they're all part of the same network... isn't that the whole point of being interconnected? 😕

About a year ago, I actually made the switch from JPMorgan Chase over to Hypo.
Honestly, Chase was driving me absolutely insane... My main branch was right in the heart of downtown, near the corner of Broadway and 42nd, so I didn't have to go there all that often, but whenever I did? It was always the same old story... They are just painfully slow. Every single time, I’m stuck waiting around, just watching my life tick away while nothing happens...
To top it all off, they actually forgot to close my account even though I’d finished everything on my end. Apparently, they were waiting for my online banking access to be deactivated first, and then they just... "accidentally" forgot to finalize the closure?!? I only found out because I happened to stumble upon it by pure luck.
But at Hypo, it’s been such a breath of fresh air. I rarely have to wait, the staff is actually pleasant, and things move fast. Sure, they don't have an endless sea of ATMs, but they seem to be adding more and more lately.

So, if I were in your shoes, I’d definitely pick Royal Bank of Canada over Chase. In my experience, the smaller players are way better and much easier to deal with.

I really fell for it because of that titanium casing... I just love how it looks when I'm carrying it around, whereas those plastic ones always looked kind of cheap to me.
Even if it doesn't come loaded with all the bells and whistles like some of the plastic models in the same price range...

I guess I still haven't quite mastered the art of not relying on Google for everything... it's a habit that's hard to break, I suppose.

I picked mine 😉
up over in Canada, but I actually dealt with an Intact Group distributor because they handle the wholesale for most of the US... so maybe just reach out to them. I can grab a phone number for you if you're having trouble tracking them down... might save you some legwork.
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I went through dental school at the University of Chicago, and honestly? I wouldn't do it again if you paid me.
They had to pull my wisdom teeth. The first time was a quick little 15-minute procedure, but man, I ended up swollen for a whole week... I was crying like a baby because they didn't bother telling me a single thing about what was actually going to happen. I had absolutely no clue I’d end up with three stitches in my mouth. Just a total shock.
The second surgery took about 45 minutes, and the tooth was just as stubborn as the first one. They basically massacred me—my tooth was actually loose for a while afterward. My regular dentist (she has a private practice) couldn't believe they didn't even prescribe me any antibiotics.
So, yeah... if I ever have to go through that again, I'm definitely heading straight to a private clinic and paying the premium.
Anyway, the only reason I even went to those guys was because my mom's friend used to work there, so she knew the doctors and blah blah blah...

I’ve got a Polar myself, and honestly? I can't recommend them enough. 😉
About 6 to 7 hours during the week, though I usually pull more on the weekends.
My main issue is that it doesn't matter if I crash at 10 PM or 2 AM—waking up the next morning is just as much of a struggle. Once I actually manage to get out of bed, I’m fine, but man... getting my head off that pillow is an absolute battle.
People claim it's all about "training" your body, but honestly? I have my doubts about that one...

THC can actually hang around in your system for up to six months after you last use it.
All I know for sure is that smoking weed can mess with male fertility, but I've been wondering if it also tanks sperm quality...
We definitely have to consider the fact that the stuff people are smoking these days is roughly 30 times more potent than what was being smoked back in the 60s—mostly because of all those different additives they use to boost it nowadays...
Sorry about the Karate in Movies ·
I caught the premiere the other day and honestly, I really enjoyed the movie. It actually gave me a good laugh...
Plus, it’s only about 70 minutes long, which is a relief because I absolutely can't stand it when a film drags on forever...

I just want to drop as much weight as possible in the shortest amount of time...

Honestly, I don't even care if the weight comes right back, I just want the numbers on the scale to go down...

Like, if I could lose 6 or 7 pounds in a week, that would be perfect...

I tried that celery juice cleanse thing last year... lost about 10 pounds in a week, but I actually passed out once, so now I'm feeling pretty bad about it...

Cheers.

I pretty much stick to one simple rule: burn more than you eat. 😉
I really don't buy into those fad diets. You just need to watch what you put on your plate and stay active. The easiest way? Just walk a little faster. Once your heart rate hits that 100 to 110 range, you're starting to burn fat. Just keep in mind that any aerobic stuff needs to go on for at least 45 minutes to really kick in...
Oh, and one more thing: try not to mix proteins and carbs in the same meal.
And since you're a guy, it’ll probably be a bit easier for you anyway.
Good luck!

Whatever, babe

I checked out those two movies.
The first one was okay, though it felt a bit slow in spots... kinda dragged for me.
The second one... yeah, it was actually pretty fun for a lazy Sunday afternoon. (Rowan Atkinson playing a gynecologist, though—now *that* had me cracking up, he was easily the best part)
