Thanks! I'll definitely take your advice! 🙂

So... I just got this pop-up notification from my antivirus regarding my email.
It says something like this: avast! has detected a secure connection from your mail program (process OUTLOOK.EXE) to the POP server "broj" (gmail.com). This type of connection cannot be checked for viruses. Please disable SSL/TLS in your mail client so that the Mail Scanner can scan your mail. The mail Scanner will provide the SSL / TLS security itself.
What is that even supposed to mean? And where am I even supposed to find these SSL/TLS settings? I've tried searching everywhere and I seriously can't find that option anywhere. 😕
(Side note: as far as the antivirus itself goes, I’m actually really happy with it!)

Man, this tutorial is gold! Thanks a ton, this is exactly what I needed! 👍

Sure, you can go into Outlook settings and check the box asking for one, but whether you actually get that confirmation depends entirely on how the recipient's mail server is set up... In most cases, mail servers block those receipts specifically to prevent spam, so they usually only work for internal emails within a single corporate domain. It could even be blocked at the ISP level. Bottom line: if you didn't get a non-delivery report or some other error message saying the message failed, then you can bet your life the email landed exactly where it was supposed to.
As for read receipts, both email clients have to be configured to play along—both yours and the person you're emailing. If the person on the other end has their email client set to 'never send receipt'—which, let's face it, almost everyone does—then you're never going to see a notification. Period.
Thanks for clearing that up! Sounds like that's exactly what's happening here. Everything makes sense now. 🙂

Try setting up that Gmail account on your Outlook at home—if you can actually get it to work—and see if the message delivery holds up.
Look, I'm running on POP/SMTP.
I handle everything from my setup at home since I don't have a computer anywhere else while I'm out hunting for a job. 😉
And guess what? I just received a read receipt right this second. 😁
So maybe the whole thing is working fine after all...

It’s possible there’s some rule set up where confirmation emails get auto-deleted or dumped straight into the trash. Also, my advice? Log into your email through the web interface. Check there to see if those confirmations are sitting in a folder or if the server is just "eating" them immediately. There could be a million different reasons for this, and you didn't mention which providers you're using (like Comcast, Verizon, Gmail, Windows Live, etc.).
So, the first email is from our family business domain. I have never, ever had a single issue with that account—sending or receiving, nothing. The second one is a Gmail account. I use it because it feels stupid to send job applications from a corporate domain like I still work there. And since all my close friends and family have my primary address, I'm not about to ditch it, if you know what I mean. 🙂
I spent all day yesterday digging through every single setting imaginable. Everything is dialed in exactly how it’s supposed to be. According to the documentation, there shouldn't be any reason for these kinds of issues to pop up.
After I sent out the applications, I naturally jumped onto the Gmail web interface to see if the confirmations had landed there instead—maybe Outlook was just being stubborn and refusing to pull them in—but nope, nothing there either.
I guess I'll try what you suggested; maybe it'll actually do something, even though I'm telling you, everything is configured perfectly.
Oops! Thanks a million! 🙂
Hey there, mods and admins! 🙂
So, yesterday I dropped a post over on the Accenture sub-forum under the thread outlook - issue because it looks like I’m dealing with the exact same headache. I hopped back on today to see if anyone had actually replied, only to find that my entire post has completely vanished. I even tried searching the boards to see if it got moved to a different section, but absolutely nothing. 🤷Can someone please explain what the hell is going on and why my post just disappeared into thin air?
Thanks!
Hey everyone!
I don't want to clutter up the forum by starting a whole new thread, so I figured I’d just ask here. 🙂
So, I think I might be having some issues with Outlook 2007. Basically, I have two different accounts set up in my settings—one for sending and one for receiving. (And yeah, I seriously need both of them active. 🙂 ) Up in the Options menu, there are these specific checkboxes: Request a delivery receipt and Request a read receipt. From what I understand, a delivery receipt is supposed to be automatically fired off by the server the second my email lands, whereas a read receipt only triggers once the recipient actually opens the damn thing. Since I'm currently blasting out job applications, it is absolutely critical for me to know if these employers actually received my emails, so I turned both of those options on. The thing is, I haven't received a single delivery receipt yet. 😕 (I'm not even worried about the read receipts right now.) I even tried testing this by sending emails to people I know personally. They got my messages without any trouble, but I haven't seen a single confirmation come back my way. What gives? Is there some other setting I'm missing that I need to toggle on?
Also, is it possible that having these two accounts set up is causing some kind of massive glitch? Ever since I added the second account a few days ago, I haven't received a single email from anyone. And I usually get emails from my friends all the time. To give you a specific example: I sent an email to my mom at her office using my "main," first account while the second one was already linked up. She got it and replied, but then suddenly her server blocked her from sending anything back to my email address. (Up until this point, my mom and I have always had perfectly fine email communication; we've never had a single issue before.) 🤷
If anyone actually knows what's going on here, I'd really appreciate the help. 🙂
I’m pretty much on the same page as redeagle96, but honestly, I have zero clue when the right time of year is to actually go through with those tests. 🤷
If you ask me, the smartest move is to just grab a referral first. Take that over to an allergist who actually knows their stuff; they'll be able to tell you exactly when to schedule the testing so you aren't wasting your time. 😁
Honestly, you just need to go get some real allergy testing done. When I was a kid and dealing with health issues, I used to go over to Silver City for all my tests. (Granted, that’s a children's hospital, but you get the idea.) I went through the whole process there multiple times, testing for pretty much every allergen under the sun. You really ought to find a clinic like that to figure out exactly what you're reacting to. Relying on dermatologists or your standard GP is a total waste of time. It's all just guesswork, "he said, she said" nonsense, and a bunch of useless creams. 😉
Steven Morris12 said:Where on earth did you get the idea that VISA is just for foreign currency? Never heard that one in my life... you can totally have a VISA debit card for a standard US dollar checking account, so... just setting the record straight since that's flat-out wrong. 😉
Alright, so I checked with my mom, and yeah, okay—VISA isn't strictly for Euros, but saying it is isn't exactly a total lie either. 😉
As for the credit card situation, I think somied actually explained it better than I could. But look, regardless of how you slice it, you’ve gotta have a basic checking account first where your cash lands. You need that account to cover all your credit card fees and stuff anyway. 😉
Look, it’s simple. You can walk into basically any bank in the country and grab a checking account. Nobody is going to grill you about why you’re opening one; they don't care. And once you get that account set up, you’re pretty much automatically signing up for online banking and all that extra digital stuff too. Most standard debit cards are just basic Maui branded ones. If you want to deal with foreign currency or anything involving the European Central Bank, that's what you use a VISA for. 😉

Look, just hit up a dermatologist. Honestly, your best bet is probably starting with your primary care physician first; they'll give you a referral to a specialist if things look sketchy. Most likely, you're just dealing with an inflamed pimple. Especially if your hair gets oily fast or if you've been sweating more lately with this heat... It sounds like nothing more than a freaking zit. Give it a few days. If it doesn't clear up, dry out, or whatever, then yeah, go get it checked out by a pro. 🙂
