Can I get an explanation from an admin as to why this thread was locked?

Which rule did I even break? I read them all... how does one moderator just decide they have the right to shut down a whole discussion just because they think it’s "stupid"?
And this is in the "fringe science" subforum, where apparently we could just label every single topic as stupid if we felt like it...

I want a straight answer: which topics are considered "stupid" and which ones aren't?

Thanks

Can someone who uses JPMorgan Chase online banking tell me how to kill that stupid pop-up screen that jumps out at me every single time I log in to their site?
This is what it looks like:

It’s been popping up for three months straight now... seriously, these people are insane. It's like they expect me to read the same thing every damn time.

From what I know, the Federal Reserve or Split banks let you do installments with their Visa cards, but the number of merchants that actually support it is pretty slim.
So yeah, stick with the Zaba MC or the Debit Card. 🙂

Alright, just checking.

By the way, getting approved isn't just about your income; having a high salary doesn't mean you'll get one by default.

I’m not talking about revolving credit, I don't care about that crap... I need the installment plan option. But I saw on some bank websites that they handle debit cards that way—they offer installment payments and then suddenly your debit card turns into a revolving line of credit or some weird scheme like that.

Since I can't get my hands on a Diners or an American Express right now, I'm looking into Mastercard and Visa options instead.

Is it even possible to pay in installments with those cards? That’s basically my top priority at the moment...
From what I've read online, they're mostly just deferred payment cards, and if someone actually offers installment plans, they basically turn into revolving credit cards, if I'm understanding this right.
If anyone here has actually dealt with this, please let me know...

I also noticed in some online shops that the specific bank matters a ton. Like, some places offer installments if you're using a Visa from Zions Bank, but if it's a Zaba card, you have to pay the whole thing upfront—probably because of their specific contracts or whatever.

I don't have any checks, nor do I even want them, and honestly, I'm not even sure if they'd take them anyway.
My card is way more convenient and actually works at most places, but man... I had no idea getting one was going to be such a massive headache.

Anyway, there's already a thread about credit cards. 🙂

I guess I misread something on their website...
(and totally missed the point of the discussion)

They'd much rather hand a card to someone who doesn't have existing debt and pulls in at least $4,000 a month.☕

They aren't "doing me a favor." I know how to control myself, and obviously, I wouldn't be using a card for dumb stuff like paying for a ski trip or a vacation.
When my car insurance bill hits $1000, it's way easier to split that into six monthly payments on a card instead of dropping all the cash at once. Or like buying new tires... I'm not just handing over $2,500 in cold hard cash.

And yeah, sure, they prefer giving cards to people with higher incomes, but who's to say one of those guys won't end up deep in the red too?
They make more money, but naturally, they spend more too.
Honestly, it makes zero sense...

My take-home pay is about $1333, and after I pay off my $333 loan, I’m left with $3,000. That’s obviously not enough to qualify for any decent card, and honestly, I’m just looking for a basic charge card.

I applied for an American Express and they straight up rejected me after waiting a whole month.
Then I tried Diners Club and got the exact same answer.

Is it even worth bothering with a Bank of America Visa or a Mastercard?
Does anyone actually know what their criteria are, like, which one is the easiest to snag?

I seriously don't get how they operate. I know my salary isn't massive, but it's not like I'm planning to blow huge amounts of cash or anything... just want to pick something up on installments here and there.
It feels like I'm asking for a $33 handout, but meanwhile, they blast commercials for these cards on TV every ten minutes, and then when you actually apply—boom, shut out.
