I’m looking into moving a fairly substantial amount of money over to JP Morgan Chase, so I wanted to reach out and see if anyone here has any firsthand experience with them—specifically regarding their service quality and how "reliable" they actually feel in practice.

I’ve heard some whispers about certain scandals involving money laundering or those whole Zagorčev jewelry controversies and similar messiness... My main concern is, to what extent could that kind of stuff impact the actual security of my funds once they're sitting in their accounts?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can share.

Back in the day, before I started getting serious about my stock portfolio and mutual funds, I actually kept a pretty significant chunk of change sitting in their accounts.

He moved his money out of Wells Fargo because they offered better rates back then—I'm talking top-tier stuff, probably the best on the market at the time, rivaling big hitters like Chase or Bank of America and those other heavyweights.

But honestly? I don't think that's the case anymore.

I remember one time when I went in to break a CD, and they wouldn't give me a dime more than $6667, and the whole ordeal dragged on for over 45 minutes. And the kicker? I was standing there in the branch, just staring at empty space because there wasn't a single soul in sight to help me.

Apparently, to process a withdrawal like that, they have to fax some request over to headquarters or something. So, if the person handling it at the home office happens to be on a coffee break or out sick, you're basically just stuck waiting forever... nothing but bad luck for you.

Hold on... what do you mean they wouldn't give you more than 20,000? Did you have to wait a few days for them to process the funds or something?

Pretty neat, right?

The money was originally locked in a one-year CD, with the option not to renew it once the term ended.

I eventually went in and extended it for another year, though I wasn't really paying close attention—my wife just checked the box that says the CD automatically rolls over for the same duration once it matures.

Fast forward a year later, I head back in. I ask them to release $50,000 and let the rest roll over. They tell me, "No can do." Apparently, since it auto-renewed, I can only pull out $20,000 without giving them prior notice.

And get this: they made sure to mention that when I needed $13333 just a few months ago, I gave them two days' notice for a similar amount and they told me that for such a small sum, no advance notice was even required.

But now, suddenly, because it’s $50,000, they’re claiming I should have given them a heads-up.

I ended up badgering them until they agreed to just cut me a check for $30,000 in cash. Honestly, my plan was to dump that money straight into a mutual fund anyway, but since I was dealing with JPMorgan Chase, I managed to talk them into putting the remaining balance into their "Growth Fund" instead. And wouldn't you know it? That fund has been up a solid 1.84% since then, which actually beats out what I would've made if I'd just left the cash sitting idle; JPMorgan Chase basically outperformed my basic savings by three times, hitting 5.2%.

I was wondering if anyone could share their thoughts on this bank

Basically, I'm looking at the personal banking side of things, and I wanted to see if there's anyone here who actually jumped on that recent promotion to open a new account lately...

I wouldn't recommend them at all based on my own experience, and honestly, even their own staff wouldn't suggest it. 👎

Could you maybe walk me through that just a little bit more... explain what you mean by that?

So, I see this flashy ad from JPMorgan Chase promising a checking account where you get an overdraft limit equal to two full paychecks, plus easy loans up to $16667... so what do I do? Naturally, I move my entire direct deposit over there. And what happens? Absolutely nothing. I barely got an overdraft for one paycheck, and when I actually tried to apply for a loan, they buried me in a mountain of paperwork just to end up rejecting me anyway. Look, I’m not even on some blacklist or anything; I’ve just got one single loan with a monthly payment of $217 which is about $1500 of my salary. Honestly, I feel totally played. I switched everything over for nothing. I didn't get any of the perks they advertised—hell, they didn't even throw in a stuffed animal or some little welcome gift like they do for new customers elsewhere.😕

The package: a premium checking account with extra perks.

People are talking about some serious drama over at JPMorgan Chase. Is there any truth to this, or is it just noise? How likely is it that they actually go bust this year or next and wipe out everyone's savings? I don't buy it, but maybe someone here knows what's actually going on...

There's this massive police investigation blowing up over at JPMorgan Chase in Austria right now. Word on the street is that things aren't looking great for us here in the States either, but the government seems to be dragging its feet on everything. It’s making the Austrians absolutely furious with us.

So, does anyone here have savings over at JPMorgan Chase? I’ve got some tucked away because I picked up a Mastercard linked directly to my term deposit. I'm wondering, what's everyone else planning to do regarding their savings? Are you thinking about canceling your accounts and just pulling all your cash out?

I was actually considering moving my business over to JPMorgan Chase, but after hearing what everyone here had to say, I decided to steer clear
I ended up swinging by three different branches, and honestly, it was just one headache after another... every single time I went in, they’d tell me something completely different or start demanding stuff I didn't even want, like trying to push a loan on me when I wasn't looking for a 😉 at all
In the end, I just threw my hands up in frustration and walked away from them for good

My experience with Hyp has been nothing but a headache...
If you run into issues with their online banking, good luck actually getting a human being on the phone. Even worse, if you have a lease set up via automatic withdrawal, they’ll happily hit you with late fees every single month without fail—and again, trying to reach someone to sort it out is a total dead end. When you finally make it to a branch, the teller usually has no clue what’s going on because "that’s not her department."

Their fees aren't even that high, which almost makes the terrible service feel more insulting.

Avoid this criminal bank at all costs.

I mean, seriously, once one of these governments finally decides to actually cough up the paperwork regarding how they've been doing business through JPMorgan Chase, you can bet the federal government is going to tear them apart from top to bottom...

Hmm, now I'm actually getting a little worried 😢... That same ad definitely tempted me to switch to their bank and take out that loan too... but of course, it's vacation season, so nobody seems to be working or even knows what's going on (and they call it a "fast transition," yeah right 👎). Anyway, I submitted all my paperwork... My salary is $2,700 and I have a loan of $217, but they told me that wouldn't matter since I plan to pay it off with this new money anyway. I still don't know if they'll actually approve me or not, but basically, everything is at a standstill because no one can give me a straight answer. Every time I show up, I get a different story...🤷 ...I'm still holding out hope that it all works out... I'll let you guys know around August 20th what happens... because apparently, that's when everything should be finalized.

So, last winter I tried pulling a loan through JPMorgan Chase... At first, everything seemed totally fine—I mean, my credit score is solid, I’ve got plenty of collateral, the whole nine yards, and they tell me, "We'll be in touch in about a week." Yeah, right... Then silence. Total radio silence for nearly two weeks before anyone even bothered to reach out again... Typical.
So I head down to JPMorgan Chase, right? And this lady behind the counter—totally deadpan, too—just tells me straight up that we’re gonna have to stretch the loan out over a longer term because of my credit score... which, honestly, isn't exactly stellar, but whatever. It’s not really my idea, but hey, just give me the cash already. When you're trying to pull the trigger on buying a house, everything starts feeling like a massive existential crisis... just give me the money and let me deal with the fallout later...
So, she tells me—this lady from the bank—that we’re supposed to touch base next week so I can get all the paperwork squared away. And of course, they go radio silent again... typical. So now I'm stuck trekking down to JPMorgan Chase just to hear her tell me that I need to clear out every single cent of debt on my revolving credit cards before we move forward. Like, excuse me?! Are you kidding me right now? 😕
Fine, I'll get on that. I'll pull some cash together and just wipe the slate clean—close out all those debts once and for all. Of course, I’m making sure to grab a formal statement for every single card first... because you know how these banks are, always looking for any little excuse to hit you with extra fees... $17I mean... honestly? It’s just... yeah. Just like that. $33 So, the latest report from the NYSE just dropped... and honestly? It’s totally out of date. Typical. You can't trust a single number in there—it's basically useless. Which means, once again, I'm stuck doing the legwork, trekking from one bank to the next just to get actual, real-time confirmations of what's actually sitting in the accounts... what a complete joke... 🤣
So I show up feeling all optimistic—you know how it goes—and she’s telling me everything is just peachy, we’ll talk later, the usual... yeah, right. Anyway, to make a long story short...
So, they came knocking, trying to get me to move my entire checking account over to their bank—obviously, I told them to shove it. Then it was "Oh, you really need to get full life insurance through OUR provider," and "Why don't you just close out all your credit cards?"—not even talking about paying off the balance, mind you, but actually canceling the accounts entirely... like that makes any sense. And then—get this—they insisted on having one of their own appraisers come out to look at my house. The appraisal they handed back? It was somehow 30% lower than what I actually paid for the place. And the excuses they used to justify it were just... ridiculous. They claimed the windows were cheap PVC instead of high-end wood, said it was basic single-pane glass when it’s clearly insulated, and acted like there were zero utilities installed when everything is fully hooked up. To top it all off, they had the nerve to claim I still needed another $20,000 in work just to finish things up, even though the architect's blueprints alone cost me $15,000... and of course, they charged me a massive fee just for the privilege of giving me such a garbage estimate... $500.
And then they had the nerve to start breathing down my neck about that car loan—you know, the one that wasn't even a headache until suddenly it was... just one thing after another, I guess. 👎 So... after three months of basically being dragged along in this endless limbo—just constant stalling and nothing happening—she finally drops this bombshell on me. She actually looks me in the eye and says, "The truth is, we’re just really nervous because there isn't a husband in the picture and you're trying to take out a mortgage all by yourself..." I mean, seriously? After ninety days of playing games, that's the big reveal? It’s like she thinks I haven't spent the last few months wondering where the hell this was going... but no, it turns out it was all about my credit score and my lack of a spouse... unbelievable... 😕
You guys... I honestly couldn't believe my ears when I heard this. Seriously. I mean, look, I’ve got a pretty solid setup—I work at a massive corporation with over a thousand employees, full benefits, the whole nine yards... I even own my own house and have more than... $3.25 So, here's how I see it... looking at the net pay... the plan is to take out a loan for about two-thirds of the property value—you know, keeping things somewhat sane—while I cough up the other third in cold, hard cash. It’s safer that way, I guess. I'll be insuring the place, obviously, and making sure I'm covered too... just trying to mitigate the chaos of it all...
So, after everything that’s gone down...
I basically just gave them a big thanks for all the harassment—really sincere, too—and then headed straight over to New York City. And honestly? They cut me a check for the exact same loan amount with way better terms in less than a week. When you look at the math, those clowns actually cost me a few hundred bucks in unplanned fees... not even worth mentioning the sheer headache and the endless walking just to deal with their nonsense...

GET OUT OF THERE NOW!!!!!

Well, here I am, checking back in just like I said I would. And here I am, sooner than I expected... 😍 it turns out I actually got lucky... my loan was approved 😉 after reading through everyone's experiences here and piecing together all the info I gathered, I honestly thought there was zero chance I'd get it. I guess miracles happen🤣... they called me this morning at 7:50 AM saying I could come by at 8:00 to pick up the papers because the loan is approved...🙏... I still can't quite believe it... I actually got it👍

Hypo is easily the worst, most shady bank in America.

Check out what happened to me:

I was overdrawn at Chase, and Hypo was running this promotion where if you switched over, they’d cover your overdraft with a loan or something similar... sounded great.

So I go in, they approve my line of credit $5667 and I immediately transfer it over to Zaba.
Since I stopped being a client, Zaba (which just pulls all those Mastercard and GoCard payments straight from the checking account—about $13333) put me on a blacklist, while Hypo promised me they'd ignore it and still give me the loan to refinance the debt at Zaba.

In the end, when I actually applied, everyone just washed their hands of it and claimed there's no credit available due to the economy.

Now I'm just stuck between two banks (them and Zaba).

Eventually had to use an Erste Bank loan to cover it all...

Honestly, stay far away from Hypo, people!!!
