So, I went out for a few drinks last night, and I walked away with two pretty interesting realizations...
Going out without a drink is total garbage, man... So, I was chatting with five architecture students yesterday, and honestly, it’s like they all came out of the same factory. There was this weirdly specific pattern among them that I couldn't help but notice... It seems like there's a total uniform for that crowd right now: short hair, preferably with some kind of goofy bangs, wearing glasses—usually thick frames—and a very minimal, almost non-existent silhouette... Sure, it's a sample, but let's be real—it's such a small one compared to the actual population...
I know. But look, I was raised with manners, and they taught me that if you're going to gossip, you do it behind someone's back. Which is exactly what happened in that whole situation with Tom Radić... literally.
-So yesterday, right after the screening of that film Ivy shot... as I was leaving the MoMA, I was explaining to a friend how Tom Davis ended up marrying Maya Friendly. Honestly, you have to be blind, deaf, and completely oblivious to marry someone like Maya out of everyone else on this planet; and since we were talking about those classic "Why me?" scenarios, Tom Davis happened to be standing right next to me. Witnesses say I wasn't exactly whispering... Only a few weeks ago, I was right in the middle of a debate at NYU when I called Julianna Matanovic a total loser, and suddenly my so-called friends all decided to ditch me. Then it hit me... she was standing right behind me the whole time.

I think the reason I have such a complicated relationship with songs like Proud Mary, Hotel California, Stairway to Heaven, Nothing Else Matters, and stuff like that isn't just because I've heard them a million times. That’s easy to fix—back before we had MP3 players or Winamp, we’d just wear out the most expensive tracks on our CDs until they were scratched... The real issue is that they've been covered way too often by people who don't actually own the sound. You know, those cover bands at festivals, street performers, or some local band playing at a high school prom or a wedding. Out of the total N times I've heard a track like Proud Mary, I bet at least 80% of those versions weren't even CCR. Honestly, that kind of thing can ruin almost any song...
