After spending years trying to brighten everyone's day on this forum, I woke up one morning and realized the reality of things has shifted. I can feel the changes setting in, and it finally hit me: I’ve officially outgrown this space. I’m an adult now.
... So, where does someone go once they've moved past a community like this? Where am I supposed to find a new home for my thoughts, a place to hide away, or somewhere to actually share the pieces of writing I'm most proud of?
Are there any sites out there designed specifically for adults?

but when I’m just posting here like everyone else, I’m just as right or wrong as any other user on this board
🙂
You know exactly how you act on this forum; one minute you're being sued by some local official, the next you're sitting there acting like the judge and jury.
Whoever handed you that power clearly didn't know what they were doing.😁
🙂

🙂
The rules clearly state that you're the boss here and your word is always final.🙏

Regarding the apology part: I’m sorry, man. I truly didn't mean anything by it personally.
The explanation: It was honestly just me messing around. It wasn't an attack on you at all.
To be completely honest, I even forgot we ever had a fallout, and I can't even remember what it was about.
You aren't going to get banned or anything over this, and I definitely wasn't expecting you to owe me anything.
Actually, I think you owe me an apology too, don't you?🙂

Honestly, I’m starting to doubt it. I’m beginning to think we might be dealing with some kind of automated system here—something capable of spotting those unique irregularities specific to each individual and fixing errors in record time.
Moderating everything without getting a paycheck for it 😲, honestly, you might have been better off helping me till my cabbage patch or actually being useful to someone somewhere.🤣

All you really need is enough proof to show that the work was originally yours.

That story isn't yours anymore, and you don't hold the copyrights to it. It belongs to the website owners now. Honestly, it'll be tough to claim any rights since you voluntarily handed ownership over to someone else, and I doubt the site is going to go out of its way to protect it...
Edit: Why not just post it on a blog first, then link to it here from there? That's how you'd actually protect yourself. 🙂
Well, look at that. Your take doesn't line up with what hollowtrucker77 said. It's probably for the best that we both opened this thread; at least we learned something together.
I can't manage running a blog too, though. I've got way too much going on around the house.

Now, if you mean someone else posting protected material without permission, then yeah, you can definitely file a lawsuit and go after the user who posted it for damages.
(I'm not 100% sure, but I think there might even be a way to file criminal charges for that too, let the police handle it, but honestly, you should probably check the "Legal" subforum for specifics)
I wrote a story on Lonely Hearts, and now I'm wondering—can someone just take it and publish it in a major newspaper or somewhere else? What kind of rights can I actually claim as the owner?
It’s happened to me so many times where I’ve been totally shocked to see my own stories or ideas from this forum popping up as headlines on other websites.
Is that even possible, and if so, how does it actually work?
ACR said:...within maybe a single month, several of my friends had multi-year relationships fall apart... I felt bad for them and honestly thought I was immune to that kind of thing, until it happened to me just the day before yesterday. 😢
Still, I have this tiny sliver of hope that things might be fixable in my case (though probably not right away, obviously), so I'm posting here to see if you guys can give me some advice...
So, here’s the situation... my girlfriend lives in a different city (not too far, maybe about 40 miles away), and since I'm in my final year of college, I've been absolutely buried under responsibilities... all of that meant I could only see her about once a week, which just wasn't enough for her... I'll admit it, she had every right to be upset; I pretty much neglected her and didn't do a great job showing her how much I care... The day before yesterday, she calls me up and says the distance and lack of time finally took its toll, and that she's started seeing me more like a friend, so we need to end things. 😢 I reacted pretty emotionally to that, and honestly, I'm a little embarrassed about it now...
The next day (yesterday), I managed to pull myself together, called her, and suggested that if we take some time apart—and if I work on myself to fix the reasons why we were unhappy—could we get back together later? She told me that I definitely should do that, though she won't make any promises, and noted that the absolute prerequisite for us being together again is for me to finish my degree and actually have some free time... I told her, okay, that's all I needed to hear, and we broke up...
What should my move be now? I really care about her (for reasons too long to list here because I don't want to overwhelm anyone) and I really want to play this smart. I am fully aware that this might be the permanent end and there might be nothing I can do, and thankfully, my self-esteem hasn't tanked so hard that I'm worried about other guys being in the picture; I just want to do everything within my power... So,
how long should I wait before calling her again?
should I do something special for our 2.5-year anniversary or just wait?
is there anything else I could do?
Help!
If you're having a hard time deciding, just have a kid with her... then MARRY HER.👍
