Lewis is basically playing snail during the formation lap—this shot is actually kind of hilarious...
He pulls into his spot on the grid, and boom, the start kicks off within three seconds... Honestly, it’s no wonder four cars got wiped out before the first turn, and he nearly rear-ended Lance Stroll during braking... Is this even legal? 🤔 He practically barely stopped on his grid slot before he was already rolling... Everyone else was busy warming up their tires, especially the guys at the front, while he just barely tapped the brakes long enough to look like he was actually stationary instead of already moving...😁
Who was the one whining the other day about drivers taking too long to get in position after the formation lap?
Most people just head out the second they see Lewis on screen. They know there’s really no point in wasting their breath on him, and honestly, they don't want to risk looking foolish by defending him. The only ones sticking around are guys like Fernando Alonso, mostly because their egos won't let them sit back and stay quiet while things go south.
What the stylist pulled off today was like watching a world-class quarterback enter his veteran years. He can’t churn out elite performances every single week anymore, but he can still find that spark to channel his old self every once in a while. That’s exactly what happened here. He clearly let that recent penalty fuel him, because he finally delivered a solid performance for the first time this season. Honestly, he's been making uncharacteristic mistakes all year, but today? Today he actually showed up.
Everyone seems to be conveniently forgetting that Max Verstappen started out on mediums. He didn't even begin closing the gap to Valtteri Bottas until lap 20. At the end of the day, Bottas admitted his tires were absolutely spent and they lasted just about as long as they could.
It’s honestly a joke that Max couldn't just cruise to an easy win while sitting on those mediums.🙄
Good grief, the amount of debris these other cars are throwing everywhere is insane.
The guy practically drove right onto the edge of the track within twenty laps. It was only because Alonso and Ricciardo gave him a lap to breathe that he didn't end up in the wall.
