Everyone knows Drazen gets an extra boost in these debates just because he's no longer with us, even if nobody wants to say it out loud.

Kukoc achieved way more and was a vital piece of what was arguably the greatest—if not one of the greatest—teams in basketball history.

Bojan Bogdanović has had an incredibly solid NBA career, yet our media barely gives him any credit at all. Ever since that standout generation from the 90s, he’s easily one of the rare few—if not the only one—who has maintained a successful NBA run for years while consistently serving as a vital piece for whatever team he joins.

They bring back public transit, slash the schedules on Sundays and holidays, and then act completely shocked when the buses are packed like sardines.

I don't know if it was a money thing, honestly. I wouldn't say so. His eyes always looked that way. He definitely had a thing for grabbing a drink and lighting up a cigar, even when he was still at the top of his game.

But yeah, he’s a hardcore gambler, just like plenty of guys in the NBA. The difference is most people try to hide it. I remember hearing Charles Barkley just come out and say it straight—he gambles, and he couldn't care less what people think because it's his own damn money he earned.

I just finished watching those next two episodes about the Bulls last night. We’re four episodes in now and there hasn't been a single mention of Kukoc. It’s like he didn't even play for the team. 🤦

The only time they even bring him up is some quick clip of Jordan yelling at him during practice, or you catch a glimpse of him sitting on a plane or standing in a hallway somewhere.

I am honestly fascinated by how much energy you put into defending Babica and Yahoo. Either you’re on their payroll or you guys are tight, like some kind of inner circle. I seriously don't see any other logical explanation for it.

steelharbor9 said:Okay, so where exactly does it say anything that contradicts what I'm saying?

Wait, did you seriously just add five words in parentheses inside that quote just to totally flip the context? 🤣 🤣

Man, I actually opened the link though, and it's super clear they didn't publish anything.

And here we go again. 🤣 🤣

I mean, maybe try reading with actual comprehension? If you just read what's actually written, it should be pretty obvious that the sentence you quoted says the only copy they had was what they wanted to gift to Severina, and THAT is what they "posted" last night—not some porn. It’s also pretty clear if you don't throw those extra five words in parentheses just to beef up your arguments on Reddit 🙏 🙏

Hey, Matijin's fiscal guy.

Just wanted to brag for a second. A few years back, this total jerk actually blocked me on Facebook just because I left a couple of comments on his posts. Can you believe that? Absolute clown behavior. 🤣

image

Of course, before that even happened, he went on a massive, insulting rant in his usual style and then blocked me so I couldn't even get a word in edgewise. Seriously, this guy is like North Korea. He just wipes out any negative feedback or anything that doesn't line up with his views, creating this total echo chamber under his posts where his little group of followers just sits around sucking up to him.

So, let me get this straight. They had the footage, they went ahead and posted it, leaked all the screenshots, and then suddenly played nice and acted all innocent just because their manager was breathing down their necks. And after all that, they end up in court even though they never actually released anything? Okay. Makes perfect sense.

Severina told Yahoo that the whole thing was a massive ordeal, saying:

"I want to thank Yahoo for not taking part in destroying people's lives or invading their privacy. Once again, it's clear that human cruelty, stupidity, and jealousy are truly endless."

We released the only copy we have—which we’re more than happy to hand over to Severina right now—last night. But let's be real: don't go thinking this hasn't been copied a dozen times before it even landed on our desks.

steelharbor9 said:Because of some copyright infringement claim—which, honestly, turned out to be totally fake, no joke! 😁

So, the bottom line is that Yahoo only ever reported on the fact that her video existed. They never actually showed the footage itself, which is funny because they loved to brag about that later on! I guess it was all just hype, maybe? 😁

But how exactly did they violate those rights? Just by mentioning there’s a clip?

I distinctly remember links on the Yahoo portal that were scrubbed later on. Then came the whole runaround where people claimed the footage leaked from anonymous sources at the PBS sports desk, or that CDs were being passed around the PBS building, and then the New York Post jumped in too. I don't feel like using Google to dig up those old articles right now, but I'm certain they're still floating around somewhere online.

steelharbor9 said:Man, you're really out here spreading misinformation again. 😁 I mean, Babić actually admitted several times that Yahoo's traffic was almost entirely just grabbing stuff from the Associated Press, and they'd just sprinkle in some original bits to grab people's attention. They honestly didn't have the resources to do anything else, I guess.

Look, I'm just repeating what he told me personally when he sat down with Stankovic over at NU2 a few years back.

If he was lying to my face then, I'm allowed to lie now.

steelharbor9 said:Yahoo never even actually published that tape.

Plus, the guy basically built News Corp from the ground up at the turn of the century—he started one of the first actual specialized news portals that felt legit. It’s not like all that success just fell out of the sky or anything.

Of course wiredrider9 is immediately jumping to the tax angle. That is probably the most obvious reach I've seen in a while, haha. 🤣 🤣

Then why on earth did Severina sue them? 🤔

restlesssurfer97 said:Look, Elizabeth Mendoza, my friend, let's start with some basic math here—how many actual internet news portals were even around back before 2004? 🙂

Compared to what we have now, Yahoo wasn't even close to being the powerhouse it is today back then, but that’s not really my point.

I asked if you honestly think they would have grown this much or reached their current status if it weren't for that Severina scandal. That one moment put them on the map. Overnight, they went from a tiny little site visited by almost nobody—one that focused 99% on investigative journalism—to the massive media giant they are today.

restlesssurfer97 said:Babic really strikes me as someone dealing with some pretty deep-seated insecurities, too, and he’s clearly not cut out for the spotlight—I mean, when Hebrang mentioned his hands were shaking, he really shouldn't have even let that slip.

But man, you gotta admit the guy has guts, because you definitely need some serious nerve to be in his position. It would be great if we had some kind of superhero fighting corruption who was young, handsome, tall, well-spoken, and totally honest.
But he isn't.
And we’re living in such a rough neck of the woods that we don't really get a choice, we just have to take whatever we can get.

Just give it to me straight... do you honestly think Yahoo would be this massive today if Babić hadn't basically hit the jackpot back in 2004 with that Severina sex tape? I remember what Yahoo was like before that huge revelation about Babić, and I know exactly what they turned into right after. Severina’s assets basically launched him into the mainstream.

steelharbor9 said:I guess the only real issue here is that you're trying to find any shred of truth in clickbait, which feels like a losing battle from the start. 😁

But look, that was actually the whole point from the start. You can't find any legitimate, trustworthy news anywhere anymore because everyone has gone absolutely insane chasing ad revenue and clickbait. We seriously need to stop these bombastic headlines and all this garbage being copy-pasted or run through Google Translate just to clutter up news sites.
Offside Chat Archives (2014-2021) in Soccer ·
That’s exactly my point right there. They just flip-flop whenever the wind changes direction. They have zero credibility.

The guy would basically be eating his own words if anyone pointed out how much this is going to tank his ad revenue. On top of that, he’s so incredibly arrogant and full of himself that I’m honestly surprised he hasn't been taken down a notch by the public yet.

steelharbor9 said:I mean, what you said applies to pretty much every major mainstream news site out there, without exception. It’s like, their whole primary way of making money is just churning out whatever gets the most clicks. I guess that's just how it works now, right? I don't really see what else there is to say about it!

The thing that really makes Index stand out from the pack is how they handle scandals. They just dive right in. Whether it’s some local drama or a massive scandal involving the highest levels of society, they write about it without hitting the brakes at all. It's exactly what restlesssurfer9 was talking about, I guess. Maybe that's just their style!

Also, something I’ve happened to hear—and read, actually—in a few different places is pretty telling. A ton of journalists, including some really seasoned veterans, have pointed out that Index might be the only newsroom they've ever worked for where they never ran into those walls. You know, like being told they couldn't publish a specific story, or having to rewrite something just because they were afraid of stepping on the wrong person's toes. It's wild, I guess! Maybe it's just their thing, but it seems pretty unique.

The bottom line is this—if you use Index for what it’s actually best at—which is those killer columns and deep-dive investigative pieces that nobody else has the guts to touch—you can get some seriously massive value for your clicks. I mean, obviously, you’d have to just tune out all the absolute nonsense over at Rouge, like those constant articles about masks and the Headquarters, but honestly? That seems like a pretty small price to pay.

Wait, what exactly? I might have missed that specific part of the conversation, but it seems like they’ve always been pretty convincingly against Tatta, I guess. 🤷

Nah, this isn't even like that. This is enough to make you want to vomit. One day they say one thing, the next day they flip-flop completely without an ounce of shame.

I was especially disgusted by them during the World Cup. They were practically calling for everyone to boycott the national team, dragging up all these scandals, and then suddenly, the very next day, they’re acting like the biggest patriots on the planet.

steelharbor9 said:Index is far, like way far, from being the best mainstream portal in America. Not even close.

Everyone out there has huge amounts of clickbait trash, so nobody really stands out for being bad. Maybe the only way to survive is to just mentally tune it all out? But, I don't know, Index seems willing to write stuff without any filters, regardless of what's happening or the context. In that specific way, they really stand apart from everyone else, except maybe some smaller outlet like Telegram.

That site just blows whichever way the wind is blowing. They chase whatever is pulling the most clicks at that exact moment. Sure, they dig up a story here and there, but you have to wonder how much of that is actual investigative work and how much is just getting tips from people playing both sides of the fence.

restlesssurfer97 said:The way Google marketing became the lifeblood for news sites has basically birthed this absolute monster of clickbait journalism we've been stuck with for the last decade or so, and honestly, I think that’s a massive reason why everything spiraled into such widespread panic. People's genuine fear regarding the virus got multiplied dozens of times over by these outlets, and well, we all saw how that played out. I'm telling you, there are going to be endless scientific studies on this exact phenomenon, probably enough doctoral theses to fill a library. Mark my words.

I was diving into some documentaries about the Great Depression back in '29 and '31 a few months ago, and it really hit me that if people hadn't gone into that frantic frenzy of rushing to the banks to pull their deposits, the crisis might never have reached the catastrophic levels it actually did. Panic is a wild thing, truly.

There's truth to this. Honestly, I can point to myself as the first idiot who fell for that clickbait hysteria about a month and a half ago, reading all that garbage online.

These portals churn out hundreds of these articles every single day just to keep the ad revenue rolling in, and Index is leading the pack 24/7.
They have an entire army of student "journalists" who dutifully Google Translate everything and pump it out exactly how the bosses order. 99% of the time, it's complete trash.

Index is pure garbage. That site was built on a different set of values entirely. After the scandal involving Madonna and her business dealings, Babic got drunk on cash and turned it into the leading clickbait machine in the country. It’s basically a way for Babic and his sponsors to fund his constant trips to the Bahamas and his expensive wine habit.
