Friday and Saturday we've got the 4x100 relay 🙂
2009 World Athletics Championships - Berlin in Other Sports ·
So, here’s the game plan—qualifiers on Tuesday morning, quarterfinals in the afternoon, then we hit the semifinals on Wednesday, and finally, the big championship showdown on Thursday!

Usain Bolt 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Man, I don't know how anyone is gonna make it through until Thursday—not to mention Saturday! I am seriously counting down the minutes
World Athletics Championships - Berlin 2009 in Other Sports ·
Bo messed up a little bit there—he’s acting like the 100m final is happening at 8:35 PM. The start is actually at 9:35 PM

northerncanyon54 said:Powell crushed those qualifiers—honestly, maybe even the most convincing run out there. This whole new rule situation feels like a mess; I think we already saw one mistake at this championship where someone got DQ'ed right at the start.
The only thing that might actually stop Bolt from breaking the world record or just taking the win is stuff like this—it’s probably adding this weird mental weight, even if he is a total legend who doesn't take anything seriously.

That new rule isn't even kicking in until 2010. For now, we're still stuck with the old way where the second false start gets you tossed. Personally? I think the current system is dumb, and the new one is even dumber—we're either going to see way fewer records or just a massive wave of disqualifications.

Everyone's obsessing over the Bolt vs Gay showdown, but like you mentioned, Asif handled the qualifiers perfectly, and honestly, I wouldn't count Bailey out either. So, in my book, it's more of a four-way race. I really feel for young Lemaître, though—he's the fastest white guy out there and could totally shake things up for the darker-skinned runners in the near future, which is something that could have started happening right now.

The 100m semis are kicking off at 7:10 PM, then the finals roll around at 9:35 PM

Anyway, you can find all the details over on the official websites—they’ve got the full daily schedule posted right there

Me, on my first time ever watching the 6.2 miles women's event—and honestly, before the race started, I didn't have a clue who anyone was—I'm just sitting here at the finish line like, "Wait, who is who again?"

Man, my wife 😁 is gonna kill me

steelmaker said:Hey, let's not be too hard on them—they aren't the only ones who completely lost the plot here. Even the organizers totally dropped the ball, which is exactly why they had to push the whole ceremony back to tomorrow. Plus, the official results didn't even hit the screen until a full hour after the race ended!

Man, that finish was absolutely wild—I mean, talk about a photo finish! Those last 100 meters kept flipping the top five rankings around like crazy, which is honestly such a rare thing to see in a 10,000-meter race. It was total chaos in the best way possible! And since all five of the leaders were Black women, it was actually kind of a struggle for us watching at home—and probably for the NBC commentators too—to tell everyone apart in the heat of the moment. What a race!

I wonder if they actually managed to push for an extra minute or two of airtime—you know, just so we could actually sit through the suspense and see how that ball landing plays out!

Big fat minus from me for NBC because of that—and honestly, major props to the German TV crew and the director too, but they really dropped the ball here. They’re showing the final throwing series with this weird delay in the footage, even though everyone already knows how it ends! Total buzzkill. 👎

World Athletics Championships - Berlin 2009

Get ready, because Berlin is about to become the absolute epicenter of the sporting world! From August 15th to the 23rd, all eyes are going to be glued to the Olympic Stadium in Berlin—it’s hosting the 12th edition of the World Athletics Championships. It's gonna be wild!

image

So, looks like the US is sending five athletes to represent us! Our biggest superstar is definitely Blanka Vlašić, who’s going to be crushing it in the high jump—fingers crossed! Then we've got Sandra Perković and Vera Begić both stepping up for the discus throw, plus Nedžad Mulabegović taking on the shot put, and Andras Haklits out there for the hammer throw. It's gonna be a wild ride!
Jurica Grabušić actually hit the Norma in the 110m hurdles—he totally crushed it—but then he ended up pulling out of the competition after chatting things over with his coach. Just one of those things, I guess!
Blanka is heading to the World Athletics Championships in Berlin—she might not be showing up with her best numbers from this season, but she’s looking absolutely hungry to reclaim that gold she snatched up in Osaka two years ago!

Alright, here’s the breakdown—the finals schedule, all those insane World Records, championship records, and just the absolute best performances we've seen throughout 2009!

15.08.

1:00 PM — M 12 miles Race walking—man, that sport is something else! It’s one of those events that always grabs my attention because it looks so intense yet so rhythmic at the same time. You see these athletes pushing themselves to the absolute limit, maintaining that specific technique while moving at speeds that seem almost impossible for a walk. It's wild!

Man, can we just talk about this record for a second? It’s absolutely wild—1:17:16! I mean, looking back at when Vladimir Kanaykin set that mark in Russia back in September 2007... just wow. It’s one of those numbers that stays burned into your brain, you know? Just pure, unadulterated greatness. Seriously, what an incredible feat.
Man, looking back at this one—Jefferson Pérez clocking in at 1:17:21 in Ecuador during that Paris meet on August 23, 2003... absolutely wild! Just thinking about those times and how much the sport has changed since then. Such a classic moment.

Top 2009:
  • Man, I was just looking back at those old stats—check this out! Valeriy Borchin clocked in at 1:17:38 way back in Russia during that run in Adler on February 28, 2009. Crazy how much time has passed since then, right? Just one of those moments frozen in time... anyway, just a random thought hitting me!
    Petr Trofimov — Russia, Adler, February 28, 2009. 1:19:02.
China's Wang clocked in at 1:19:27 during that meet in Rio Maior back on April 4, 2009.

19:25... man, that's a wild time for the women's 10,000m! Just absolutely blistering. Makes you wonder what kind of training regimen someone would need to pull that off—probably nothing short of superhuman. Seriously though, seeing times like that just hits different.

Man, I still can't get over this one—talk about an absolute legend! We’re looking at that insane World Record from Junxia Wang back in China during the Beijing meet on September 8, 1993. A time of 29:31.78... just wild to think about how long that mark has stood. Truly one for the history books!
Man, I still can't get over that run—30:04.18! Berhane Adere absolutely crushed it back in Ethiopia during that race in Paris on August 23, 2003. Just incredible stuff.

Top 2009:
  • Meselech Melkamu from Ethiopia hitting that 29:53.80 mark in Utrecht back in June 2009—man, those times always stick with you!
Man, can we talk about that run? Meseret Defar absolutely crushed it in Birmingham! She clocked in at 29:59.20—just barely breaking that thirty-minute barrier. Honestly, watching her move like that is something else... just pure speed. Such an incredible performance from Ethiopia!
Man, I was just looking back at those old stats—Florence Jebet Kiplagat hitting that 30:11.53 mark in Utrecht back in June of 2009? Absolutely wild! It’s crazy how much time flies when you're digging through these archives... anyway, just a cool little throwback to see those numbers from years ago.
Man, did you guys see that? Wude Ayalew absolutely crushed it in Ethiopia—clocking in at 30:11.87! Honestly, watching those times come in just makes me realize how insane the speed is lately... it's wild. Such a massive performance!

20:15 Shot put

Man, looking back at this one—the absolute legend Randy Barnes setting that massive 23.12 mark! It all went down in Westwood, California, back on May 20, 1990. Just insane how long that record stood... truly one for the history books!
Man, I was just looking back at some old stats—can you believe it? Werner Günthör absolutely crushed it in Rome back on August 29, 1987, hitting a massive 22.23! Just wild how those numbers look compared to everything else nowadays... pure greatness right there.

Top 2009:
  • Man, did you guys see that? Tomasz Majewski just absolutely crushed it in Stockholm with a massive 21.95! Seriously impressive stuff—he’s looking unstoppable right now. Just incredible.
Man, I still can't get over that performance! Reese Hoffa absolutely crushed it out in Eugene—hitting a massive 21.89. Just incredible stuff to watch from the States right there. Such a powerhouse!
Man, I still can't get over that mark! Christian Cantwell absolutely crushed it out in Eugene—hitting 21.82 meters back in June of 2009. Just a massive throw from him, seriously impressive stuff.
Man, I was just looking back at some old stats—check this out—Daniel Taylor hitting 21.78 back in May 2009! He was throwing out in Tucson, Arizona, and honestly, that’s such a solid mark for that time... just a really clean performance from him right there.

16.08.

12:00 PM 12 miles Race walking... man, what a wild sport! Honestly, there's something so hypnotic about watching those athletes push themselves to the absolute limit while trying to keep that specific technique perfectly intact—it's like a high-speed dance mixed with pure grit. You see them flying down the track, legs moving like pistons, yet they have to maintain that strict contact with the ground. It’s intense! One tiny slip in form and you're looking at a red card, which is just brutal when you've put in all that work. Definitely one of those sports that makes you appreciate how technical athletics can truly get.

When's the full version dropping?
Is it possible to upgrade directly from Windows XP with newer builds, or am I still stuck only being able to upgrade from Windows Vista?

1. Yeah, you can.
2. No one's really sure yet—maybe sometime in the second half of the year, towards the end, I guess.
3. Just from Windows Vista.

So, I figured I’d kick off a thread about something that's been popping up everywhere lately—and honestly, it’s been a hot topic for a while now. I want to put everything in one spot: product demonstrations. You know, all those different kinds, whether they're hosted at someone's house or set up in a restaurant. I’m sure most of you have been invited to one of these at least once, so I really want to hear about your actual experiences with specific companies. Since I’ve sat through plenty of these myself—and even worked for a few outfits that run this kind of business model—I pretty much know how the whole machine works. Nowadays, there are tons of companies out there; some are actually decent, but from what I’ve seen, a lot of them lean a bit too close to being scammy. That’s why I’m asking you to please stick to what YOU personally experienced, rather than just repeating stuff you heard from someone else. Let's try not to generalize too much or go on a massive rant against the sales reps—at the end of the day, they're just doing their jobs to pay the bills. Tell me if you liked the presentation, what they promised you versus what actually showed up, and how the prices compared to other brands (and please, skip the "this isn't worth the money" comments—I'm not looking for that kind of negativity!). Also, let me know how you were invited and how you were treated... and definitely drop the name of the company.
Seriously though, let's not label every single company that does this as a scam or a nuisance, because they aren't all the same. If you can't think of a name off the top of your head, here’s a little refresher (Tupperware, Amway, Avon, Sherwin-Williams, Expedia, TripAdvisor, Pavletić, Walmart, Lineage Logistics, Tupperware...)

Alright, I’ll toss my own little "drama" into the ring. So, back in February 2003, I got into this fender bender—basically rear-ended some girls driving ahead of me. It wasn't like a total wreck or anything, just smashed headlights and stuff like that. The cops showed up, and yeah... I blew a 0.10% BAC. Naturally, the next day those girls headed to the hospital with all the classic complaints—nausea, whiplash, you know the drill. Fast forward about a year or a year and a half later, and I get hit with a fine of roughly $1000, though I have the right to appeal. Well, I did appeal, and honestly, I haven't heard a peep since, so I’m assuming it just fell through the cracks or hit the statute of limitations. BUT... in the meantime, State Farm is coming after me for about $11667 (covering the car damage and the injuries for those four girls). Here's my question: can they actually pull this off? Since there hasn't been a final, official ruling proving I was at fault or that I was definitely under the influence—meaning nothing is legally binding yet??
