Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
jadesurfer8 said:If you're looking for somewhere in Slavonic City, I’d highly recommend the Matićević Center—the hall is seriously awesome! The servers are super fast and efficient, too... I was there as a guest recently and was honestly blown away. Definitely the best venue in the area right now!

That's where my wedding guests are gonna be. 🙂

We've got "The Musicians" lined up to play.
I know firsthand that these guys are absolutely fantastic... they actually just finished a three-weekend stretch playing weddings for some friends of mine, and they were incredible. Seriously, everyone was out on the floor dancing.

Has anyone here had experience with them, or maybe spent some time at the Mayo Clinic venue before?

Been there about ten times, twice as a maid of honor, so I know the deal. The owner is top-tier, you can work out pretty much anything, and the prices are super fair. You can even order the cakes through him—they’re great. Sad I won't be having my wedding there since it's a bit awkward for me to host guests that far away, but I did buy tablecloths, napkins, balloons, and other decor for my house from him. He even gifted an exploder to one of my friends. Of course, that's just my take, someone else might've had a bad time.

Dana Wright4 said:They made those treats themselves with some help from the neighbors... so they aren't much help to me in terms of finding a vendor...

However, I did spot a small bakery business on the main road heading out of the city toward the Suburban town... I think the name was Amanda or maybe Maggie...
Does that ring a bell for you? 🤷

Look, the absolute best treats around here come from this one lady in a Suburban town and her shop, Sweetie. They're doing my cake, and my coworkers and cousins—who I actually baked for at their weddings—are handling the cookies.

Dana Wright4 said:A quick question for our Midwest girls...

I was just out in Indianapolis this past weekend for a wedding, and I am still thinking about those desserts. I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews about Midwestern baking my whole life, but this was actually my first time tasting the real deal...🙏

So now I'm wondering: what are the odds of me ordering my wedding treats from someone out in the Midwest? Would it even make sense financially to have them shipped or brought in? And more importantly, does anyone have a specific baker they’d recommend?

Thanks...😘

Dana Wright4, can you please find out who they ordered those cookies from? I’ll handle everything else—what’s good and what it costs—since I already know most of the women who bake for weddings.

Dana Wright4 said:Well, now... as far as my knowledge of Pittsburgh goes—and I’ll be the first to admit I don't know the whole thing— 🤣)
The invitation says it's being held at the Obama Hall in Malibu, near Pittsburgh.

So, you think you're some kind of expert now? You clearly know more than I do...😘

I was literally like 15 feet from that hall on Saturday night, just for a bit though. We were hanging at Baron. Ugh, if I’d seen this post sooner we could've totally linked up. So, how was that salad?

Dana Wright4 said:Just wanted to drop a quick note to my dear Slavonkan friends to let you know that I'll be heading out this Saturday for a wedding in Indianapolis...

My very first Midwest wedding...😍

That's awesome, Dana! Do you know which venue it's at? I'm actually hitting up a wedding this Saturday too! 😛

Thanks for the wedding gift ideas, ladies. I found some porcelain ones I'm obsessed with, but they aren't available in Slough. Does anyone know if I can find those white porcelain ones anywhere in New York City?

fadedhound91 said:Thanks so much! I just shot them an email... now we wait and see if they actually get back to me. Honestly, I might have to play the numbers game and reach out to dozens of them just to be safe. That one shop near the train station seems pretty well-stocked, though! :-)

They won't get back to you because their email system is totally busted. Just browse their site, pick what you want, and call the number listed on their page to order. You'll have your package in two days. Even for us, it wasn't express shipping, just standard delivery. 😘

Patrick Morris said:Hey, does anyone have the scoop on what the catering menus actually cost over in Stanley's neck of the woods? Like, what are we looking at for a place like Durant's restaurant? And what’s the deal with the spread at the White Palace? I haven't heard much about them, honestly...
I really need to get out there and start dropping down some deposits for the venue soon, so I figured I'd better ask around first... 🙄

Yo, I just DM'ed you everything I know.
What date are we talking?

Ugh, ladies, every time I scroll through this thread, I get hit with this massive sugar craving.🙂 Seriously, why does this happen?🤔 It’s because of you guys and those mouthwatering descriptions of cakes—all those adjectives about how sweet, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious they are... plus all the "yum" and "mmm" sounds. Honestly, if you're gonna kill me like this while also making my fridge look pathetic, at least throw in some advice on how to burn off all those calories. And don't even try telling me to go find some random diet thread, because after reading a cake description from Malabudal, nobody's thinking about working out. 😱😵

Jeffrey Castillo8 said:Listen, dear, if you're looking to plan something in America—especially out in the Midwest—and you haven't booked everything a full year in advance, you're going to have a very hard time finding an open slot. We're talking the venue, the photographer, the band, even the officiant... everything is booked solid.

Facts. We went to book a venue in Indianapolis just last month and literally every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is booked up until November of next year. Only one random Saturday was actually open, and it was the same story with the bands and photographers we wanted. I guess he was talking about us.

velvetjackal752 said:Just wanted to give a quick heads-up to my friends out in the Midwest (and everyone else following along!) that Vigus—they’re one of those big wedding supply wholesalers based out of places like Indianapolis and St. Louis—just picked up some bubble and snow machines ($200). We aren't actually going to rent those specific machines, but we are definitely going with their balloon drop and the decor for our main table plus the entrance to the venue (which brings the total to about $367). Honestly, I’m pretty thrilled with how it’s coming together; I think it’ll look elegant without being over the top. And most importantly, dear is totally on board

Do they have a website?

Trust me, there's gotta be some amazing spots around here with cakes just like this—you know, where the layers are actually separate. Just look.
