briskjackal5 said:It’s pretty straightforward—you just take 60g, or maybe half of that. 😁

Me? I’m out here packing in two full scoops—I mean, I build this little mountain of protein in the spoon that looks like it's under actual physical stress just waiting for me to give the scoop a tiny shake. And then, naturally, I go for the biggest scoop available.
Whatever works, I guess.

So that's the secret... build the pyramid and then give it a little shake. 😁

I just got on the scale to double-check things. Using ten level scoops with a little bit extra on top, I'm hitting about 120 grams 🙄Which basically means you're looking at roughly 2.5 scoops for every 30g of Protein

Hannah Wright said:How much is 30 grams, exactly? Like a spoonful? A soup spoon or a coffee spoon?

I'm pretty sure a standard soup spoon gets you right around 30g.

That’s exactly how I’m going to handle it then...

Thanks 👍

I mean, why not just toss all the ingredients into the shaker beforehand and then just add water and shake it up right after your workout?!?

goldenangler4 said:glucose is your one and only go-to here... check out the 11-$4.00 options over at Dietary Supplements Corp... look for the blue box, just make sure you don't accidentally grab fructose. It's definitely not the same thing. 🙂

If you're looking for something decent—nothing fancy, just solid—I’d suggest PROSTAR WHEY from Ultimate Nutrition. It runs about $67 for a 900g tub... that works out to roughly 30 servings, which, if you ask me, makes it a pretty good value. Not that I'm speaking for Stipe, but I hope that helps you out. 🙂

Glucose (the stuff you find in standard table sugar packets) is what you want to get from Dietary Supplements Corp.

If I were hunting for the most budget-friendly yet reliable protein, I'd probably pick something like this:

It's a concentrate, but honestly, for the average person, it's perfectly fine. A membership with Pronutrition costs $67, and at that price, you actually get a full kilo of the whey from the link I shared. Once you're a member, you can grab that same whey for $50/kg—or drop it down to $45/kg if you stock up with 7 kg or more, plus they'll cover the shipping in that case...

velvetraven said:Before you head into your workout, I’d suggest taking about half of what you normally throw into your Protein Weight Management shake. As for those high-octane energy drinks—you know, the stuff like NO or Supercharge—honestly, I can't really give you a recommendation there. They don't do a damn thing for me, so I don't even bother with them.

During the day, you’re totally fine to stick with some Whey—just mix it with milk—or maybe grab a blend that includes egg protein. If you're looking for something to take before bed, casein is the way to go since it digests so slowly. But honestly? Instead of blowing your cash on expensive powders, I’d just suggest grabbing a serving of low-fat cottage cheese before hitting the hay. It does the trick just fine.

Low-fat cottage cheese is packed with casein. Honestly, in my opinion, you might actually get more total protein intake if you just opted for a casein powder supplement instead—but that’s just how I see it. For me, those pre-sleep shakes never quite hit the spot to keep me full, and I absolutely hate lying in bed with my stomach growling. Because of that, cottage cheese is always my go-to, regardless of how you prep it. And yeah... let's be real—if you're grabbing a tub every single day, it's definitely not the "budget-friendly" option people claim it is.😉

Are we talking about hitting the gym or what?

velvetraven said:I’ve been there—buying just about everything online and getting flagged by Customs more times than I care to admit. That said, I’ve heard they’re pretty aggressive with packages coming through the standard international mail routes. I actually just pulled the trigger on some Optimum Nutrition whey from Bodybuilding.com for a ridiculous price—only about $19—so we’ll just have to wait and see if it gets held up at the border.

Which shipping method did you end up going with? Was it standard international mail... or something like FedEx?

Nicholas Kern90 said:I get mine from them... honestly, I have zero complaints.

Are you actually heading over to Canada to pick it up, or are you just having it shipped? And how's the situation with customs looking lately?

jadetiger962 said:Look, let’s be real for a second—you can absolutely pack on the pounds from protein alone. It really just comes down to the math of how much you're actually consuming.

If you actually want to pack on some serious mass, you’ve got to put in the work at the gym—and then you have to eat even more than you think you need to. It really comes down to that balance of high-intensity training paired with a massive caloric surplus.

I agree—but you’d honestly have to shovel them down in massive quantities to see any real results, which is something most people just aren't going to commit to.

Wait, what was wrong with the 5lb packaging? I'm actually thinking about grabbing some myself... How much did that EAS set you back?

Lawrence Phillips said:I just grab my protein powder from Dollar General🤣

My strategy? I just mix a little bit of the "real" stuff into the container from Dollar General... mostly just to keep the peace at home.

😬

Honestly, though, anything from Dollar General is still better than nothing at all.🤣

I’m pretty sure that stuff from Dollar General is just soy protein... you'd be better off hunting down something actually decent.

briskjackal5 said:You can't make a direct comparison—it’s just not scientifically possible, because you can never replicate the exact same conditions twice when you're talking about multi-month stretches.
If you spend three months on SciTech and then switch over to Incorporated 3 for the next three, a dozen other variables have shifted besides just the supplement. Your diet changes. Your lifestyle shifts. Even your training intensity isn't identical. Those first three months and the subsequent three are two entirely different chapters.

That’s why trying to draw a straight line between them is a fool's errand.

That doesn't mean you can't make an educated guess, though.

Personally? I wouldn't dream of running a Mercedes-Benz on heating oil once I finally buy one, and I certainly don't go shopping for half-baked, low-grade products for myself.

-Steve

Sure, but people love to talk trash about SciTech (and stuff like it), even though a massive number of pro bodybuilders swear by it. Honestly, I think there are much bigger fish to fry for any serious lifter—things like making sure the rest of your nutrition is top-tier, crushing your workouts, and actually prioritizing recovery. If you've got your diet dialed in and you're hitting your training and rest according to the playbook, it really doesn't matter which specific protein powder you're scooping.

briskjackal5 said:I’m honestly not sure what you mean when you talk about actually noticing a difference in protein performance.

Personally, I’m convinced those differences are very real—it’s pretty much like the difference between using 87 octane versus premium fuel in your car.

-Steve

Look, it's not that the composition isn't different, but if you're expecting to see a massive jump in progress—or a sudden slump—just because of this... yeah, good luck with that. It's going to be a hell of a stretch to notice.
Quad pain/issues in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Honestly, it doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary... I mean, if you aren't in pain and you aren't actually feeling any discomfort, I'm not sure why anyone would make such a huge deal out of it. Maybe it’s just some weird quirk of quad genetics finally showing up after a few solid sessions on the leg press....
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Who actually claims they can tell the difference in protein performance? Honestly, they're lying to themselves! Just grab whatever fits your budget and call it a day.

Honestly, if I were you, I’d just do what I do—give them a massive wide berth and stay far away.
And I don't just mean Weider; I'm talking about avoiding companies like ExxonMobil too.

-Joe

Look, Weider is decent enough—true, they're a bit overpriced for what you actually get, but they're still pretty solid.

Jesse Martinez23 said:Look, I’m not trying to rush things for no reason—I actually have a shoot coming up at my agency in about six weeks. I'm trying to balance out my physique as much as possible in that short window while hopefully packing on a few pounds of muscle. It just feels like progress is moving at a snail's pace, so I figured there might be some kind of shortcut or trick to speed things up. 😢

Hold on—you actually think you can put on "a few" pounds of pure muscle in just a month and a half?😕
