cosmicdriver27, I'm no expert either, but this looks like it hits on what you're dealing with:

Any info would be appreciated.

Maybe some of the doctors or centers mentioned by patients here could help:

Dennis Castillo2 said:Here’s my experience with Dr. Ivanovich:
Had surgery at the Leptir Clinic back in December 2012. Before that, I dealt with stage 3 external issues and bleeding for years. Things improved significantly afterward. No more bleeding, though a small prolapse popped up a month later. I insisted on a follow-up surgery (for $0.00) in February 2013. Since then, everything's been fine. I can handle physical activity and sports normally now. I still stay away from alcohol and spicy food, but so far, I seem cured. The service at the clinic was top-notch.

Thanks. We don't get enough concrete patient reports like this on these forums... they're actually useful. 👍

Seems fine...

Ever since the bleeding started, the pressure feels less intense. It seems to be easing up slightly. Hoping it clears up soon, because this is anything but pleasant...

Great, as long as it works. 👍

Gerald Evans45 said:Hey everyone,
I’ve dealt with hemorrhoids for the first time ever and I need some advice. The issue is I'm currently abroad in Ireland, so my usual doctor isn't really an option right now.
No clue how this happened. I had some spicy food the day before, strained a bit on the toilet, felt a little sting, but didn't think much of it. It's not like I eat spicy stuff all the time or anything. I've been in similar spots a hundred times and nothing ever happened. It wasn't until the burning started this morning that I realized something was up. Now it's stinging pretty bad, it's been three days, and I can feel it, so it's external. Walking is tough, sitting is awkward, I mostly just lie on my side... it sucks. All I've done so far is rinse with cold water and use some Nivea Soft cream. Probably not the best move, but it was all I had. What should I do? Is there just one go-to cream for this?
I'm planning to hit up a pharmacy today to look for something. Anything specific I should watch out for?
Please don't suggest any brands from back home, because they aren't available here.
Thanks.

Just tell the pharmacist you have external hemorrhoids. They'll definitely give you something better than Nivea Soft (which is probably just making the stinging worse). Got any olive oil on hand? If so, use that instead, then head to the pharmacy.

Jesse Castillo9 said:The procedure was a total disaster. Nothing’s fixed—it actually feels worse than before. I spent two months' worth of pay on this, so if you’re looking for ways to throw money down the drain, definitely go with private clinics... otherwise, stay away.

Man, that sucks.

I wasn't planning on seeing him anyway. I only talk to surgeons under 50 just to get a sense of things. In this field, you can't really replace experience, but I was curious...

Hope you find someone who can actually fix this soon.

Thanks for sharing what happened. Good luck. 🙂
wiredotter75 said:Just a quick update... finished my 60th chemo cycle. Moving forward. I feel "great," except for...
toothaches, nausea, numbness in my limbs, nerve damage, insomnia, hitting the restroom 20 times a day, my whole face and body covered in red rashes, constant gut pain from the underlying illness, some liver issues, a bit of ascites, and blood pressure swinging wildly from 100/50 up to 160/95. I FEEL FANTASTIC. Hang in there, everyone...

Glad to see you're still fighting. Good on you. 👍
How do you spot a minor these days? in Psychology ·

It’s not a modern thing. It’s always been this way. We just have a more massive cosmetic industry now...

So, I work at a local bar and I’ve run into a serious issue. How on earth are you supposed to tell who is actually a minor and who isn't these days? I'm asking because I had a situation where a girl came up to me who looked, quite frankly, to be about 26 or 27. Naturally, I sold her alcohol and cigarettes. Then, as I was passing by her table a little later, I overheard her saying she was only 16!

This stuff is getting out of hand...
I'm genuinely worried about getting into legal trouble over this.
A friend of mine dealing with the exact same thing works at a 7-Eleven...

Just ask for an ID from anyone who doesn't have those two lines between their nose and mouth. 😁
Those usually show up around 25.

There are way too many sixteen-year-olds out there who look like they're in their twenties or thirties.

Linda Patel21 said:I buried my dad today. It’s been such a whirlwind... just two months since he got his diagnosis (gallbladder cancer with metastasis). We didn't even make it to chemo; he wasn't a candidate for surgery, so they just put in a stent. He didn't have much pain, though. Right up until the end, he was talking about planting an orchard. He struggled with confusion, fevers, and losing his appetite. I tried to do everything for him. I knew the end was coming, but I still held onto hope. I knew it would be hard, but not like this... I miss him already. My heart is heavy. I just wish we had more time. To hold him, rub his back, even just to see him give me one of those grumpy looks... anything. I haven't been on these forums long, but I've met some truly wonderful, brave people here. I wish you all strength in your battles. Don't give up, and stay close to your loved ones until the very end. My days are just grief and tears, until the good memories start drifting back...

I'm sorry. Hang in there. 🙂

Mine passed 13 years ago, and the ache only gets heavier every year.

Honestly, I haven't encountered a doctor quite that full of herself, uncommunicative, and just plain cranky in a long time. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

I went to her once... decided never to make that mistake again.

gentlecrane20 said:PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! I've been dealing with these stupid hemorrhoids for 9 months now! First one popped up, then another... and I'm only 18! I have no idea what stage I'm at or anything! They've just been sitting there for 9 months... if I stick to my diet and use ointment, nothing hurts, but if I eat chocolate, the pain is killing me! Today was absolute torture. How can I tell what stage I'm in? I have two slightly larger external ones that have been there for 9 months, and they usually don't hurt unless I eat something I shouldn't. I went to the doctor and they just gave me some cream and called it a day. What a joke... :/

Eat plums and apples instead of chocolate and go see a proctologist.

Sandra Brooks91 said:I wouldn't recommend him for his bedside manner. Super arrogant, you practically have to pull answers out of him, and the wait times are endless. In the end, he didn't help at all... since my Electroencephalogram came back normal. I guess he's so used to extreme cases that slightly off results aren't worth his time...

He was actually quite polite to me (went private), and the appointment took a while, but he didn't even hint at what might be wrong or who I should see next...
Jonathan Morris40 said:Last night, I noticed this sensation at the base of my skull—like liquid sloshing and popping. Tried turning my head and stretching, just heard awful cracking and felt like fluid moving through channels. It's been happening more lately, but I only really focused on it last night since it’s never been this intense before.

Could this be related to blood flow in the brain?

No clue. Just write it down and make sure you bring it up with your neurologist.
Jonathan Morris40 said:I asked my doctor about getting a CT scan, and she said once she reviews all the imaging I’ve already had, she’ll decide if there's any reason for a CT or an MRI... I went in hoping for a referral, but apparently, according to her, it's unnecessary. 🤷

Maybe do some digging yourself to see if you actually need it. Those symptoms sound pretty heavy... honestly, if I were you, I'd just book a private appointment with the best neurologist in town immediately and get a second opinion.

I spent two years effectively disabled because I blindly followed my primary care physician's orders on a diagnosis that was actually quite simple and easily fixed with surgery. I'd still be struggling today if I hadn't started investigating things myself. Part of that process involved swapping stories with people who went through the exact same thing... and let's just say there are plenty of us.

I don't trust our general practitioners at all anymore. I'm definitely not leaving a new diagnosis up to them and just waiting to see what happens.

Good luck.
Jonathan Morris40 said:thanks for the support 🙂

Don't mention it. I wish I could be more helpful, but I don't know anything about potential diagnoses for those specific symptoms.

Just speaking off the cuff... if you haven't had one yet, I'd probably push for an emergency brain MRI.
Sorry you're feeling so rough.

It might be worth listing out all your symptoms—the old ones, the new ones, what triggers them, what helps, what makes things worse... everything.

Might give some expert passing through here a better chance at giving you decent advice.

Hang in there.🙂
