Sadness, or something more? in Psychology ·
Jamie Scott2 said:How many people does it take? What if someone is still grieving after 7 or 10 years?
What’s your take on this?

Of course, who passed away and how they died matters... plus personal circumstances.

There's also something else—complicated grief—which sadly most people haven't heard of.
To make a long story short, it's when someone just stops after a loss. They're completely stuck, as they say.
I think that's enough context.
Do you think those people need professional help?

No. I don't think there's any help for people like that...

Most people say the issue is communication. It's not. If you're human and just tell each other what you think, things end there. Everyone just retreats to their own corner because nobody wants to make a move. I know from my own experience. It's not that I want them completely wiped from the internet, but rather that they should scale back... you know, getting out of bed just to check the latest updates!!! Is that normal!? A guy in his thirties?! Weekends are the same... start checking... finish checking... and I wonder how long this lasts. Will it ever stop!? And then they say everything is fine as long as they have something to watch! The day feels empty if it isn't filled with that kind of content. I don't know. No clue. Just stay quiet. Deal with it. Play dumb. Be blind. Be deaf. Ignore it. Live your life. And just drift away... because to me, THIS makes no sense. Where does it lead... goodness knows...🙂

Then again, someone could get out of bed just to check the score of the Yankees game or the weather forecast. For instance, my aunt turns on the TV at least seven times a day and opens the newspaper to see tomorrow's weather, and she's retired and barely leaves the house. My 27-year-old neighbor spends ten hours a day on video games. An acquaintance buys about a hundred pairs of stockings a month. My grandma spends half the day playing Solitaire. Another neighbor stays glued to his office for 15 hours a day. I don't know if I even know anyone left who isn't obsessed with something.

What's your addiction? 🙂

John Price said:A few months ago, when he had internet in his room, he basically occupied the place most of the day. Not sure exactly how many hours... crimsongull20 used to laugh about us not having internet in the apartment because of it, but honestly, it’s the only thing that actually works.

Personally, I think a better preventative measure would be gouging both his eyes out.

John Price said:Fine, I'll accept what crimsongull20 said and ask for help. How do you deal with the negative feelings porn triggers in me? When does it stop being just "fun" or spice for a sex life and start becoming an addiction? Where's the line? Right now it's teenagers watching it, tomorrow it'll be kids...🤮

It’s not actually a problem with porn. It's an ego thing. You just want him to be incapable of wanting any woman other than you, which would be a world-first case in the primate kingdom...

John Price said:I should mention I’m not against watching porn if we're doing it together? Does that make me a hypocrite? I often wear provocative lingerie and try to play into his fantasies hoping I'll be enough for him... Is the issue me or him? Please help, this is honestly killing me. 😢

It's you. Definitely.

Megan Peterson87 said:if it's yeast, you'll get Monistat suppositories and cream.

For yeast infections, if Monistat doesn't cut it, you could try Lotrimin. But that stuff stings, and since you didn't mention itching, it might be bacterial instead—especially if the discharge is yellowish rather than white.

Anyway, stop playing doctor and just go see a physician. Right now.

He gave her another shot despite all her self-destruction, and she took it... maybe that helped her push through, and probably out of gratitude for everything, she stays with him... at least, that's how I saw it...🤔 maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't feel like that part was missing.

Not me either. 🙂
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Stepinac Optical, in that shopping center near Savica. This older female doctor—Black—spent forever examining me, only to realize I don't even have astigmatism... after I spent eighteen months wearing cylinder lenses for absolutely nothing. 😵

Thanks to her. 🙂

Is this it?

I have a pretty close friend dealing with this exact thing, even though her family is perfectly healthy. She's been stuck in this loop for years and it's reached a scary point... I'm not sure she'll pull herself out easily... Out of respect for everyone involved, just try to stop the nonsense and eat normally.👋

Times have changed. I have one friend who had her first at 39, and another just two weeks ago at 41. Five kids total!!!👍

My great-grandmother also had her first—my grandmother (back in 1926)—at 35, then had two more children, with the third arriving around age forty... and she lived to be nearly ninety.

So what's your point? 😁

The whole bit about "cinema needing to create its own films" is just stating the obvious.
Not to mention, hearing this from Johnson feels incredibly hypocritical, especially since Dark Night has absolutely nothing to do with the American reality.

It’s just the worst kind of stale, academic pretension. Pure patriarchal-pastoral kitsch, right up there with some cheap Latin soap opera. Total megalomania funded by $9333333.

Still recovering from last night's three-hour ordeal... 😠 :2up:

We spend our lives looking for excuses to stay in our own little bubbles instead of actually seeing people as individuals. We all play a part in widening that gap, don't we? Whether it’s guys talking about women like they're just objects, or mothers telling their daughters that all men are trash... it's all there. Maybe we're just too self-absorbed to look outward. Why can't we accept that everyone is their own center of the universe? Sometimes it might be nicer to orbit someone else for a change, giving them that focus, rather than waiting for the whole world to revolve around us. Perhaps we just lack flexibility... or maybe we're just fundamentally lonely...

The internet is just one big distraction. But how do you escape the urge to run...

I know a guy who, while whining about this exact thing, once muttered:
"Wherever I go, there I am." 😎
