Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) in Movies ·
The trailer really hooked me, and most audience reactions seemed positive—lots of people saying things like "I left the theater in tears" or "this movie changed my life." Because of that, my expectations were high, but in the end, it felt like being promised a chocolate croissant only to find almost no chocolate inside. As much as I wanted to love it, especially since I generally enjoy "weird" films ranging from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to The Art of Self-defense, this just felt emotionally hollow to me. I don't know, maybe I grew up in a different kind of messed-up family than the one in the movie, so I couldn't quite connect, or perhaps the pacing was too fast, or maybe the "what-if" scenarios weren't explored enough and felt confusing.
On another note, the casting was impressive. From The Goonies and the second Indiana Jones installment to Big Trouble in Little China and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It makes me want to revisit those classics, whereas I'll probably forget this one within a week.

I don't see Adobe RGB listed in the specs for either monitor. I guess it's just not mentioned.
Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
Hi everyone, I’m looking for a new monitor primarily for design work and photo editing—mostly using Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, and a bit of Premiere Pro.

Right now, I'm torn between the Benq PD2700U (which hits 100% sRGB/Rec. 709) and the Dell U2720Q (with 99% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3), so I was wondering if anyone could share their thoughts.
The Dell costs about $500 more, so I guess I'm wondering if it's actually worth the extra money.

Or, if you happen to have any other similar 4K recommendations, I'd appreciate them.

Kyle Howard82 said:Hey there,
I’m actually in the exact same boat as the other user here. Someone in my house tested positive, and our last contact was about 3 or 4 days before they got their positive result. I let my doctor know the same day we found out, and she told me I need to isolate for 14 days. Now, logically, it would make sense for those 14 days to start from when we were last in contact with the infected person, but nope... she's logging my medical leave as 14 days starting from the date of the test itself. 🤔 I don't have any symptoms at all, so I'm wondering if I really have to grind through the full 14 days (counting from the household member's positive test), or if there's a chance it could be shortened if I tell my doctor I feel totally fine? Also, would Medicare give me any grief regarding my disability payments if they see I didn't stick to those 14 days mentioned in their guidelines? My leave code isn't listed as isolation, but rather "exposure or contact with other illnesses."

I thought self-isolation was only 10 days now, but I guess everyone seems to have their own set of rules. In my case, I was assigned 10 days of isolation, but it started from my last contact with the infected person I live with—someone I can't really distance myself from. I was lucky enough to develop some symptoms and stay negative, which I think meant my 10 days only started counting 10 days after the first symptoms appeared in the infected person. So, maybe 20 days total.
Best pulse oximeters for home use? in Health ·
Is anyone else using a smartwatch to track their blood oxygen levels? My Apple has been running constantly, and the data is actually quite interesting. It seems to drop during the night to around 93%, sometimes hitting a low of 88%, before climbing back up by morning. In the mornings, I’m usually at 93%, then it hits about 96-98% around noon, and starts dipping again in the evening, sitting around 94% by 8 or 9 PM.
Or maybe it's just me, but sometimes it stays steady at 98-99% all day from 1 PM to 9 PM, yet if I take it off for thirty minutes to shower and put it right back on, it suddenly shows 90%.

I realize that how the watch sits on my wrist and how much I move probably affects the readings, and I know these aren't medical-grade devices. But for those of you using actual pulse oximeters, do you see similar fluctuations in saturation throughout the day?
Jack Cook7 said:Maybe the Intel modules or the Hard Drive have just wiggled loose, so I guess you could try reseating them.

Well, I've run into an interesting issue with the Intel. One module is 4GB and the other is 2GB. If I try running with just the 4GB one, the laptop starts up and then immediately shuts down. If I use only the 2GB one, it does the exact same thing. Swapping their slots doesn't change anything either. I don't really have any spare Intel lying around to test right now, unfortunately.
I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with something similar: I hit the power button, the fan kicks in and things seem to be running, but it won't boot Windows. There's nothing on the screen at all—just a black display. After a while, it finally starts booting and everything works fine.
If I shut it down and turn it back on immediately, it boots up normally.
But then, if I shut it down again and try next time, the same thing happens where the screen stays black forever, and it just won't start. I end up having to force it off. Then I try turning it back on, and it's the same story. This keeps happening all day until it finally decides to work.

I'm guessing it isn't a Windows issue since it doesn't even get to the boot stage. I don't think it's the RAM either, because I tested it with different sticks and had the same result. I also doubt it's the drive, since it's an SSD, and if that were failing, I'd expect more obvious signs.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe it's something with the motherboard? My laptop is about 6 years old, a Dell Inspiron with a dual-core i5, which I upgraded with an SSD quite a while ago.

So, is Isle of Dogs only playing at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival? I noticed it was pulled from the AMC Theatres trailers.

Noah Roberts46 said:It’s a decent enough movie. Viggo delivers a solid performance and there are some fun moments sprinkled in, but nothing groundbreaking. Honestly, I’m still scratching my head over the point of that ending.

That's exactly it; I don't really grasp the point either. At first, it felt like an anti-establishment film made for a mainstream audience—sort of a Chomsky-themed cliché—but in the end, they just get co-opted.
I suppose I would have preferred if Santa Claus had joined them in the woods, giving them enough momentum for a sequel where they actually overthrow the government through guerrilla tactics. 😁

Nebraska was my first thought too. And maybe Paper Moon. Both are black and white.
408 Request Time-out Error in Forum Help! ·
If you look at the top right corner near the X, there are three little lines; if you click those, a menu should pop up where you can select "New incognito window." Or, I guess, you could just hit CTRL + SHIFT + N. The only real downside is that incognito won't save your login info.

I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, but browsing the forum on Chrome has become nearly impossible. I keep getting hit with a 408 Request Time-out almost every other click. 🤷Interestingly, though, if I just open an incognito window in Chrome and head to the site, everything loads perfectly on the first try.
The Monuments Men (2014) in Movies ·
On paper, this should have been an Oscar contender: you had a stellar cast and a premise with massive potential. In reality, though, I guess it was one of the most tedious movies I've sat through in years. The direction felt off. As others have noted, the character development just isn't there, and the dialogue feels incredibly repetitive. It was a total disappointment.

White House Down (2013) in Movies ·
I think this movie would have been incredible if it were titled White House Down and starred Steven Seagal instead.😁

On another note, why does the "tech expert" in these kinds of movies always have to be such a massive weirdo? It reminded me of the guy from Die Hard and, of course, the character from Under Siege 2.

Since fall is approaching, I’ve been thinking about my gear. Given that I’ll be riding through one of the rainiest cities in the country, I was wondering what you all think about fenders. Does it make sense to pick up something like this:

or should I just shell out for some "real" fenders?

I guess that classic Cleveland rock scene has been gone for years now. Judging by the turnout at local shows, Cleveland seems to be more about that heavy bass and modern electronic stuff (though I'll admit, I don't really follow those genres much myself).
