Am I the weird one? in Psychology ·
Rachel Martinez11 said:Just be yourself, and you'll eventually find friends who actually vibe with who you are. Try this: grab a cousin and head to an NFL game—that experience alone will probably teach you just how tedious most people can be. Once you realize how much of a drag the average crowd is, you won't feel so lonely for being different anymore. Besides, you have the internet. You aren't some lone freak in a vacuum; there are plenty of us out there. Find someone online who’s just as eccentric and quiet as you are. Maybe meet up to watch some weird indie flick and just enjoy each other's company in that strange, quiet way. Do that, and life might actually feel full.

I completely agree with this perspective!

I actually have my own little "diet" routine.
Basically, you spend the entire weekend partying—dancing all night long, maybe using some stimulants if that's your thing—and if you're a beginner, you just don't eat anything for two days straight. Living like that frequently will actually get your body into incredible shape.
That is an incredibly unhealthy way to live.

If you want to try something a bit more wholesome,...
just stick to working out and keeping an eye on your calorie intake.

As for me, I’m starting up inline skating tomorrow and cutting back on the snacks because I spent this whole weekend overindulging and now I feel totally bloated and out of shape...

But luckily, I can drop the weight pretty quickly...

Currently feeling heavy!

Bye

I’ve been snacking every two hours for the last couple of days, and I’ve definitely seen the scale creep up because of it.

It’ll pass, just hang in there!

I recently went through a bit of an unpleasant situation that honestly shook my confidence just a little. Someone decided they didn't like the way I was acting and essentially blacklisted me without a second thought. To be fair, I played a small part in the friction, but I truly can't wrap my head around why someone would react so harshly over minor flaws.
I haven't even known this person for a full year. You’ll probably tell me I'm wasting my energy on nonsense, but this specific brand of stupidity really stung. They actually started turning most of the group against me, and now everyone is treating me like some clueless girl.
I'm not used to being rejected—I've never really dealt with anything quite like this before—but I have a feeling this situation might actually be a blessing in disguise because it's showing me exactly how much I'm going to grow.
Honestly, it's just a bunch of insecure people finding ways to vent their own frustrations through others.
I should also mention that I consider myself someone with style and a unique attitude; I'm definitely different from most girls, partly due to my career and where I stand in life. But still, sometimes I find myself overthinking things when these little incidents get under my skin.
Regardless, thank you all for the comments; I've managed to pull some useful advice from every single one of them.

Honestly, I feel the exact same way. I’ll get hit with a great, positive thought a hundred times, but it always seems to show up way too late. It's so frustrating...
But hey, it doesn't really matter. It's fine. I'm just trying to roll with it as much as possible and push away all those insecurities and negative vibes.
And you can always count on me when it comes to books—I'm down for pretty much anything, regardless of the topic.

Cool. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll try to track this down at the local library.
It sounds pretty interesting to me.
I'm a fan of this whole positive repetition concept. I've actually tried something similar before, though I occasionally lose my way and slip back into my old habits.

I haven't actually read the specific book mentioned. Instead, I’ve been focusing on practicing the power of the mind, tapping into spiritual strength, and simply following my heart.
I am definitely interested in finding more books that dive into those kinds of themes.
Could you please provide a bit more detail regarding that author and their work?
Thanks so much!

Yeah, I totally agree that "knowledge is power."
I’m doing my best to stay proactive in that regard—learning new languages and working toward finishing up my degree. I'm 23 right now. I’m really hoping that this anxiety eventually fades as I get older and that I’ll just feel more and more secure in myself over time. It’s definitely uncomfortable, having to constantly second-guess everything and dig through all those little insecurities.
There are periods where I’m just completely chill about everything, but then sometimes... grrr... I just have those days where everything feels off.

Sometimes I just end up holding my tongue instead of saying what’s actually on my mind. If I do speak up, there's this underlying layer of anxiety hanging over everything.
Does anyone have any advice on how to just... chill out? I feel like I'm constantly worrying about what people are going to say or think about me. Why can't I just let go and stop caring so much about everyone else's opinion?

I can relax occasionally, but it really depends on the crowd I'm with.
I know, I'm a complicated one!
