Also, does anyone know anything about flowers? I haven't even started looking yet, and honestly, I have zero clue who's actually good. Along with everything else, I’d love some cute little table arrangements... I have no idea what kind of budget I'd need for that 🤷 and maybe some ribbon bows for the chairs that match the bouquet colors... has anyone here dealt with that or knows where I can find decent stuff

I'll shoot you a DM with the contact info for a really awesome lady from the forums here in St. Louis—she rents out chair bows......

For florists, I’d suggest the shop in that small town in the Midwest (he's doing my decorations), then there's Jane's shop, or Flower (they're all based in Castle Rock)....
The florist over in Elizabeth is also great too.....

I also highly recommend the florist run by our friend Raymond Brooks7; she made some absolutely stunning arrangements for me👍

Michael Davis21 said:@rapidmason10 I see you've got a party going on over in Bellevue... just a heads up, tell them not to turn the music down at 3 AM... I've seen it happen before where people start complaining 🙄... since they have apartments there too, they tend to sneakily lower the volume so they don't wake up the guests 🙄 personally, I really like setting those house rules right at the start—I'd tell them straight up if they try anything, they aren't getting paid... then they don't have any issues 👍

The venue owner is actually a close friend of mine, and our contract is crystal clear: music can stay loud until 4 AM, and then we just taper it off a bit🙂

I know she won't screw me over. I told her straight up that I've heard all the drama about venues turning the music down early, plus I was at a bash there during peak season and nobody asked to lower the volume once😁

So, seriously, nothing to worry about🙂

Michael Davis21 said:Can you even believe me? Honestly, the jokes are the least of my worries😁 once everyone's had a few drinks, everything's fine🙂 I actually talked to the owner and told them I'd handle the decor myself...😉 since they clearly don't have an eye for it, I'll make sure everything looks gorgeous...😉

The band and the crew are what really matter... because if the vibe is off, it doesn't matter who's playing, nobody's gonna have a good time.
I was at this party once where the band was killer, but everyone just sat there... maybe ten people were actually dancing or trying to get the rest of the crowd to move even an inch, and eventually, even they gave up.

Half the guests bailed by 1:00 AM... just seeing that nobody was feeling it.

That venue is a total gem... and honestly, it could look absolutely stunning with the right decor.👍

Michael Davis21 said:The venue was the Maestral (all the other spots were already booked up 🙄), and while it's nothing mind-blowing, I've heard some really good things about it... plus, once I get in there and do the decorating 🤣🤣😁
I've actually never been to a party there myself, so if anyone has been—please, give me the tea! Any comments... any critiques...

As for the photographer—Photo Mark—I am obsessed with their shots, they're just so good

I was just at a wedding there this past October; a friend of mine was tying the knot, and F. Mark (Zvoniti and John) were shooting it.

Look, a hall is a hall, and it’s not bad... though for this specific wedding, the setup wasn't anything special... but honestly, you can do a lot with that space if you try.

The food was decent, and the servers were super helpful... I hadn't been to a party there before and had heard all sorts of rumors, but in the end, it turned out pretty good.😁

Just kidding—the music and the photographer are all set... but now I'm totally lost when it comes to the wedding dress... am I cutting it too close if I wait until 4 months out to go shopping? Or should I be rushing to find something way sooner? 🙄

Which venue and photographer did you pick? 🙂

Honestly, the best time to hunt for a dress is during Korizma, because shops usually have their full inventory in stock then, so you get way more options to choose from...

Michael Davis21 said:Honestly, I feel a little better now🙂—everyone else was tied up, and then apparently someone on their end had to call out, so I just kind of drifted off into a nap... 😁

Don't even sweat the Bomb....it's a total home run...trust me, the party is guaranteed and the vibes are gonna be legendary!

I'm thinking about grabbing some of those cookies for a sailing trip, so I wanted to see if you knew if they actually carry them?
And where are they even located?

Delta's got those sailboats, I just spotted them at the expo 👍

Michael Davis21 said:I’ve spent so much time lurking through these threads before, just soaking up all the advice for a friend back when she was planning her wedding🙄. But now—well, it’s finally my turn😲. 😍 I mean, I still have about 10 months to go, but you can never be too early when it comes to getting your ducks in a row, right?
I wanted to ask—has anyone here actually seen the band Bomb live at a reception??
I’ve listened to their tracks probably ten thousand times already, but I’ve never actually caught them performing at a party...

If you hire Bomb, you're golden. silentpuma28's guys killed it at their wedding! 👍

Your bride is gonna be telling you the exact same thing the next morning. 😍

James Kelly82 said:Hey there!!
It’s my first time posting here, but since my turn has finally come up, I could really use some pointers from you guys...
I've got a huge party coming up this October in San Francisco, and honestly, I’m starting from scratch!! We’re looking at about 300 guests... so if anyone could lend a hand, I'd be so grateful...
Can anyone hook me up with some contact info for local bands, venues, or photographers?? Thanks...

Welcome to the club!

I can definitely point you toward some killer bands—here are my top picks: Verizon, The Beatles, Major League Baseball, Orange, Barclays (which is actually my band!), Boombox, Pink Floyd, 100s, Flash Entertainment.....
I'll shoot most of those numbers over to you via PM

As for photographers, check out John Doe or Ivica Lisjak http://www.ivicalisjak.com/
Or Studio in (I use them myself) http://www.weddingstudioin.com/
Sina, Matić.....

For venues... Sunce or Dolis..... (both can easily handle 300 guests)

Rebecca Nelson59 said:Does anyone here actually know anything about The Three Tenors—or some group like that? I’ve had people raving about them lately, claiming they're absolutely incredible, but I'd love to get some actual opinions from you all before I commit.

I think Snow White had them once, and honestly, I've never heard a single bad thing about them...

Sophia Gray2... listen, I was at that party where The Beach Boys were playing, so don't sweat the fact that they'll be jamming until 4 AM. To be real with you, half the guests will have cleared out by then anyway (unless you count the immediate family).
The Beach Boys create such an awesome vibe, though I don't get why they wouldn't play if there are only a few people left on the dance floor...?

Grace Flores5 said:hey girls, I was wondering if you could maybe help me out with some recs for bands, photographers, hair stylists, or makeup artists... My big event is in November and I honestly haven't booked a single thing yet.

Also, if you happen to have any phone numbers handy, that would be amazing. Thanks!

Welcome 😁

For bands, I've got plenty of leads. Here are my top picks: Viva, Brava Band, Major League Baseball, Orange, Barbary (which is actually my band!), Bomba, Pink Panther, 100s, and Flash.....
I'll shoot most of those numbers over to you via PM

As for photographers, check out Jakov Teklić or Ivica lisjak http://www.ivicalisjak.com/
Paramount Pictures (I've used them before) http://www.weddingstudioin.com/
Sina, Matić.....

For makeup, I highly recommend my girl Antonija Guć, or Goga—so many girls have used Goga for their big day (sending the numbers to your PM now)

It was in Savannah, at the Bellevue ballroom. I actually dropped a link to the photos in my signature...

Shoot me a PM if you want more details so we don't clog up the thread here 😍

Nicole Kim11 said:Me too, me too!!!!😍 I caught a video of my cousin's wedding and that band is incredible (I've heard them a few times before, though never at a wedding setting)
they look great on her🙏
I can hardly wait to see the photos...
and let me know how everything went for you too...😘 🙂 🙂

Of course I'll give you the scoop....

But honestly, I have zero doubts about either Paramount Pictures or Barbary....

I feel like I've seen and heard Barbary a billion times, not even mentioning all the DVDs and stuff I've binged from Paramount Pictures....

Nicole Kim11 said:👍 I felt the same way, having used the studio in and BARBARY myself—it was pure madness! I’m actually thinking about booking them for my own wedding too...😍

I've got Studio in handling my filming, and they're playing Barbary... 😍

It honestly makes my day hearing people talk this highly of them! 🙂

Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
I’ve gotta vent about what happened to my cousin who’s getting married this Saturday...

They ordered all the desserts from Ojai (the girls from St. Louis know exactly which shop I mean), but when they swung by to pick everything up two days before the wedding, they found the doors locked with a sign saying they were closed until 9.2 due to a death in the family...
I won't even get started on how unprofessional Ojai is being. They didn't even bother to call anyone! Even though they left both a cell number and a landline, nobody had the decency to reach out and say, "Hey, we had a death in the family, so we can't fulfill your order."
My cousin and his fiancée definitely aren't the only couple tying the knot on 7.2, so I bet there are plenty of other newlyweds left hanging right now...

Look, I totally get it—a death in the family is heavy stuff—but failing to notify your customers? That’s just shameful... 👎
Kyle Scott10 said:Hey rapidmason10, do you happen to know any women from Savannah who do makeup? I heard someone there is actually really talented.
Well, personally, I wasn't exactly thrilled with Antonija Guć; she did my sister's makeup when she was younger, and she did a truly beautiful job on her.😕

I actually know a girl from Savannah who is amazing at makeup. I'll shoot you a DM...

Wait, I'm lost here. Was your sister's makeup amazing, or was it just done too late? 🤷
frozentinker3 said:Did you end up taking that course at the church? How long does it actually last—what's the whole process like? Oh, and one more huge thing!!!! Does the godparent seriously have to be baptized, or can you just give the priest a hundred bucks to make it work?

I haven't made it to the course yet, but it’s usually three days. Your best bet is to check directly with the priest to see when they’re running the pre-Cana sessions.
From what I know, the best man or maid of honor is basically just a witness (totally different from a godparent at a baptism), so I don't think they need to have any sacraments, but definitely double-check with the priest to be sure....
As far as I know, they'll just ask for a copy of the best man's ID—they won't ask for any other paperwork...
So yeah, you definitely don't need to bribe the priest with a hundred bucks! 😉

EDIT: Just did a quick search online, and turns out the best man/maid of honor doesn't even have to be baptized because for a wedding, they're really just there as witnesses.
