Michael Davis21 said:So, I'm currently on the hunt for a really solid florist—or honestly, even someone who does private gigs—around the Charleston, Miami, or San Diego areas... I'm sure one of you former or current wedding planners has a killer recommendation or two somewhere! 🤷
What kind of price range are we looking at lately? And do they usually handle the full venue decor too? I just really don't want to mess this up and end up in a total disaster zone on the big day... 🤣
John Doe, thanks so much in advance for any leads you can throw my way! 🙂

I'm totally backing Raymond Brooks7's suggestion here!
🙂In the San Diego area, I highly recommend the Trader Joe's near Malibu—oh, and there's also a shop called "Cvitak" in the suburbs, plus a place downtown called "Ispod Skala" (that's the one I used for my wedding!)
😉

amberpanther17 said:Uh... you hit the nail on the head there. Seriously, living the dream!
I still have absolutely no clue when my guy is finally going to be stationed out on a ship... who knows, right?

And since there’s actually a chance I might get some space for free—but without any of the gear or supplies—I was wondering if anyone knows if there's even a way to rent out my own inventory? Like, is that even a thing people do?

It looks like I’m going to be a very frequent visitor to this forum over the next year or so!

On a totally different note, if anyone is looking for a makeup artist—I know a girl who is super talented and doesn't charge an arm and a leg! I've seen so many girls get done by her, and she's a local from a small town nearby, so she can definitely come to you or visit your place. I pop in to see her every once in a while myself.

If anyone's interested, just shoot me a message and I'll send over her number privately!

Wait, is that by any chance Gaga from Montauk??
She did my makeup once and she is seriously incredible 👍

amberpanther17—I am totally with David King72 on this one... first things first, you’ve gotta nail down a date—and obviously, only once you know when your sailor can actually make it...
once you've picked a day, go ahead and scout out those venues immediately. As soon as you settle on a spot, lock in the catering and the DJ—and do the same for the photographer... everything else can wait until later.😉

Paul Mendoza17 said:The big day is approaching, and I can't wait to take her to the altar. We have run into one small logistical hurdle, though. We live in Washington, D.C., but we want the wedding to be in California, which doesn't leave us much time to scout out venues. We are expecting roughly 250 guests.

Could anyone suggest a venue that can accommodate a group that size somewhere between Key West and the Miami area?

Also, how far in advance should we book a venue for a "larger" wedding like this? Our current plan is to have everything reserved about eight months out.

Thanks so much in advance!

Just browse through the info here—you'll find plenty of useful stuff... Personally, I think you should put down a deposit even earlier, especially since venues that fit that many people are hard to find around our neck of the woods... My advice? Secure the venue ASAP so you actually have time to focus on planning everything else.😉

George Castillo6... I'd say you're looking at starting around $100 just for an accordion player—and that's being generous...
If you're planning on bringing both an accordion and a guitar into the mix—assuming they actually bring something to the table—you'll probably have to shell out at least $200.
I once hired an accordionist who was super low-key... if you want, I can shoot you his number in a DM... plus I have a few other contacts for different bands lying around.😉

Does anyone have recommendations for a good bakery? I am looking for somewhere other than Magnolia Bakery.

Zenit, Bobis... 😉
Hey everyone, just wanted to drop a quick heads-up about something important:

A brand new wedding planning studio called "lipa Ana" just opened up! It's located right over at 2 Kalet Street in Los Angeles—right across from the local Pizza Hut...
They handle all the wedding coordination and they even have gorgeous gowns starting at just $2,000—$1333 so definitely swing by if you're in the neighborhood! 😉
Rebecca Nelson59 said:Look, I’m really just looking for a budget-friendly option here—something decent that won't break the bank. I'm talking in the ballpark of $1,000 up to $667. Does anyone actually know of a reliable laptop in that range? Also, if anyone has a specific model number or recommendation that fits the bill, please let me know.

A girl using the handle pingulinka had one—I think she paid about $500 for it—so maybe shoot her a DM 😉 and see
Betty Gomez2 said:I’m looking for recommendations for a venue and a band for a wedding with roughly 230 guests. Any suggestions? 👍

For venues—maybe something like a grand hotel in Los Angeles, a nice estate out in Napa, or even a large ballroom in Chicago—though I'm not sure if a club in San Francisco could actually fit that many people.
band: maybe a local jazz group, a wedding DJ, or one of those high-energy cover bands you'd find at a big Austin venue...
I actually caught Nov di's reception a couple of years back—they had the band Lido playing and they were honestly incredible... I’d definitely recommend them to anyone! 👍

Michael Davis21 said:I’ve spent so much time lurking through these threads before, just soaking up all the advice for a friend back when she was planning her wedding🙄. But now—well, it’s finally my turn😲. 😍 I mean, I still have about 10 months to go, but you can never be too early when it comes to getting your ducks in a row, right?
I wanted to ask—has anyone here actually seen the band Bomb live at a reception??
I’ve listened to their tracks probably ten thousand times already, but I’ve never actually caught them performing at a party...

I've seen Bomb play at a party before and I totally recommend them... everything went exactly how we planned, too—it was a huge 👍 for the band

It’s my first time posting here, but since my turn has finally come up, I could really use some pointers from you guys...
I've got a huge party coming up this October in San Francisco, and honestly, I’m starting from scratch!! We’re looking at about 300 guests... so if anyone could lend a hand, I'd be so grateful...
Can anyone hook me up with some contact info for local bands, venues, or photographers?? Thanks...

Check this out—it's got plenty of numbers for music, photography, and venues too 😉

Well, I guess we're heading to the beach then...😉

Alex Carter3 said:Yeah, Dolis can handle that crowd.
As for Fabula, I'm not sure, and I doubt the robots either.
But honestly, everything you need is right at the start of the thread—just check the first ten pages.🤷

I was actually at a party with about 210 people, and honestly? I have no clue how they'd squeeze in another 90 folks🤷
unless they completely rethink the whole floor plan🤷

From what I know, the Phoenix Ballroom is good for a crowd that size—maybe the Holy Cross venue...
I don't think Dolis is 🤷

What about Fabula? Or those Robot Girls????

Jacob Harris88 said:The brittle was from Whole Foods—it felt like a scene out of a cartoon with a donkey and a mare in wedding attire—and there were also a few small treats, though about ninety percent of those were made by my mother and our relatives beforehand... and all I can say is, simply wonderful!!!

Man, it's about time you told us who's playing your tunes! 🙂
