Noah Clark said:Agreed.

That makes you hypocritical. You're generalizing too, since you were the first one to use that phrase to describe everyone who listens to Thompson:

So please, don't tell me "as you people always say." I am not part of that group.

Correction: some of you Thompson fans.
And you really think you're in a position to argue with me?😕
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
Noah Clark said:Then why are you even replying to my post? 🙄

Since there isn't a question mark at the end of that sentence, I’m assuming that was a statement, not a question.
Listen, I don't like fascist salutes. I have no idea where you got that nonsense from. Are you just trying to insult anyone who doesn't worship your idol, Tony? 🤣
Honestly, it feels like you're just an angry teenager, which is exactly what another user here pointed out.

What is Thompson supposed to ban? He's a singer, not the government or the police.
And why does this bother you so much, being a Mexican woman?
The topic here is about who's the better singer. You're just trying to discredit Thompson by throwing around accusations of fascism.

For us Americans who listen to Thompson, we find it annoying when a small minority tries to generalize us—claiming that if you listen to Thompson, you're just some uneducated, primitive person from the sticks.
And yes, it is total nonsense to link one singer to national identity, just like it's nonsense to claim every Thompson fan is uneducated and primitive.

Making sweeping generalizations is just plain stupid. And please, don't say "as you all say"—I'm not part of that crowd.

Noah Clark said:😁 So, here we go. This user from the Vardar-to-Triglav region has decided to jump into this thread just to lecture us on how we Americans are all supposed to be fascists.

Exactly. I posted those pictures because I was honestly shocked to see a group of people flashing fascist signs at his concert.
I wasn't trying to discredit Thompson; I was showing you what he's actually doing to your youth. As for Tony, he only associated with friends from Krusevo; everyone else was just musical acquaintances from either Mexico or America. Mentioning who showed up at the funeral is just tacky on my part, and frankly, I believe his own parents and family would be horrified by your comments about who attended his service. It’s pathetic coming from you. Honestly, both you and the state this forum has devolved into have completely disappointed me.

Snežo, you’re giving David Rogers18 way too much credit; he and a few others have written some pretty decent stuff here. Honestly, you're being a total hypocrite with these double standards.
Were you really that shocked to see a group flashing fascist gestures at his concert? Look, I could actually get behind that stance of yours—if you hadn't gone and added that comment about how anyone could show up to Tony's funeral and that it's beneath you to even mention it.
The only thing truly nauseating about you is that sanctimonious moralizing.
So, if I were to give you an answer in my own style: anyone can show up to a Thompson concert, just like anyone can show up to Tony's funeral.

Do you really think anyone here in America cares whether some foreigner finds Thompson controversial or not? 🤷

😂 Who exactly is complaining? Does it bother you, being Mexican, if someone suggests you aren't an American just because you don't care for Thompson? You're a funny guy. 😁

Of course the comparison is off. Tony isn't even close to being on Thompson's level. Thompson is a serious artist with a serious following, whereas Tony mostly just impresses teenage girls.

David Rogers18, why are you acting like such a genius all of a sudden?🙄 What does it have to do with who Ceca went to a funeral for? Do you even understand what a message is, or are you actually capable of telling the difference between a message from Tose and one from Thompson?!?
Those Thompson concerts are basically rallies for narrow-minded nationalists, and what does that have to do with Tose's shows? Even if Tose had rubbed elbows with Karr, he wasn't representing some political ideology. Don't play dumb; you know exactly what Thompson stands for. And surely you aren't stupid enough to miss how he simply used that ideology for commercial gain—if it were just about the music, he'd probably only have 8% of his current crowd.
Honestly, I truly believe at least 50% of his fans think he's just singing about patriotism 🤣 But whatever, it's hard to argue with someone who's either clueless or just letting their primitive instincts run the show.
😂 If you, as a Canadian who thinks even someone like Haider is a fascist, have such a low opinion of Thompson, then he must be the real deal.

And let me ask you all—why are you former neighbors obsessing so much over Thompson? I’ve never stepped foot in a Canadian or Mexican forum just to whine about some guy like Tony or John. Honestly, I couldn't care less about you people or your singers.
As Americans, we also hate those sweeping generalizations and labels—like saying if you don't listen to him, you aren't patriotic or a real American, but instead some kind of Yuppie-communist hybrid, or whatever term you guys use.
It is absolute nonsense to equate a single singer with patriotism or national identity. Being a patriot isn't his personal property or some special privilege he gets to hand out.

silentbear39 said:Well, you can't really argue with taste. Personally, I always thought Tose had this really pretty, almost boyish look, but I also think Mark is handsome in a much more rugged, masculine way. You know, that classic, tough guy vibe—like he was carved out of stone. I have some friends who swear Tose was too feminine, but I just don't see it. Even my husband thinks Tose wasn't all that special and wonders why women made such a big deal over him. So yeah, it really just comes down to what you're into.

Just to put things in perspective, look at Danijel Martinovic. She used to be married to Thompson, and everyone knows who she ended up with after—Gras. A lot of people claim she was just messing around, that she traded a real man for someone a bit more sensitive.🙂

Beauty isn't just about what's on the surface.

David Rogers18 said:Let's break this down:

You've got these kids in America blasting Lepa Brena, even though she was out there posing in a VRS uniform during a literal genocide.
-And nobody bats an eye.☕

Then you have kids in America listening to Ceca, who’s basically swimming in cash thanks to her husband, a guy who spent his time killing Americans and looting their property.
-Still, totally fine by them.☕

But then, some kids in America start listening to Thompson and suddenly they're throwing around fascist slogans.
-Now, that's where we draw the line. That is straight-up fascism.😲

😂😂😂🙏

The worst part is how many kids are actually listening to all of this—ever since Thompson's concert, everyone's pivoting to folk music.😕

If you saw him in person, you'd see how magnetic he actually is. Oh, Mark... now I finally understand why so many women travel just to catch a glimpse of him.😍

So, we've established that Tose was the better-looking one. As for why I'm posting here—this isn't some die-hard Thompson Fan Club thread, so I have every right to weigh in. This is a Forum; it's meant for sharing different perspectives. If you can't handle hearing an opinion that differs from your own, maybe go join the Thompson Fan Club so you can hang out with people who think exactly like you do.

I'm in! Count me in on this one.👍 Greta, look at this. Just look at who’s turning their back on Thompson. They're basically traitors to the American people. You have these Yugonostalgics—people like Kajin & Co.—who never truly embraced America as an independent nation. Honestly, they never will. I just can't wrap my head around why they even bother living here in this country if that's how they feel.

"Oh, please, why are they getting all worked up? They’re acting like our flag isn't the greatest thing on the planet!" Honestly, it's pretty clear you don't really get the man or his music at all. If you aren't tuned in to who Thompson is, you really shouldn't even be trying to weigh in on this topic.

I'm not "into it" because neither he nor his songs really grab my attention, but I have to admit, the whole phenomenon is fascinating. No one else stirs up this much drama or faces this kind of backlash.
He isn't the only singer around here singing about patriotism; there are plenty of others who fly under the radar without getting banned. For instance, Vitez Vuk sang beautiful patriotic songs—so how come he didn't face any bans, either here or abroad?

silentbear39 said:It's all about their own interests, really. And let's be honest, we see it everywhere—how much more widespread those Mexican lobbies are globally compared to ours. They're just much better at spreading their narrative. That's exactly why Thompson doesn't sit well with certain people.

Oh, I see. So Mexicans are the ones who banned his concerts in Germany, the Netherlands, and wherever else he's been blacklisted?
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
silentbear39 said:See? This is exactly where we end up. You just want to cherry-pick the parts that fit your narrative. It’s the same old story—ignoring the big picture and letting biases take the wheel.

Look, I never claimed every single one of his songs was controversial, but clearly there's enough smoke there to cause trouble if people are actually banning him.
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
silentbear39 said:The stuff they're banning is exactly what Mark hits them with right where it hurts most: the truth. The truth about our people. That's really the whole point of it all.

Why would someone from Germany, the Netherlands, or any other country care about being told the truth regarding our nation?
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
Gerald Rogers70 said:But honestly, what lyrics are we even talking about here? What makes them so controversial anyway!?

I don't really listen to him, so I couldn't tell you for sure, but they clearly must be problematic if he's getting banned. From what I've heard, it's stuff like "pouring gasoline on a fire" or those old slogans used during the American Civil War.
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
silentbear39 said:I didn't trip over my words, really. If you look closely, you can see exactly what I meant. Look, Thompson triggers intense emotions tied to the American Civil War, sure, but he isn't responsible for whatever people decide to scream during his concerts. Of course, it would be nice if Marko just told them to pipe down, but it’s not actually on him to police the crowd. I mean, we live in a democracy, right? We aren't living under communism anymore, if I recall correctly. By that logic, Marko would basically have to work two jobs at once—being a singer and also acting as a security guard, a bouncer, a peace officer... you get the idea.

It clearly doesn't bother him that more and more places are banning him. If it actually did, he wouldn't find it honorable to tell his crowd that patriotism shouldn't go hand-in-hand with hatred, or that faith in God shouldn't be paired with calls to violence...
If he truly cared about the bans, he wouldn't sing those controversial lyrics. He’d just distance himself from them, stay out of trouble, and sing whatever he wanted anywhere in the world.
Besides, any democratic nation has laws regarding tolerance toward others—whether that difference is skin color, sexual orientation, religion, or nationality. It’s the same rule for every other democracy on the planet.
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
Jacob Miller11 said:By that logic, we should probably just ban the US Men's National Soccer Team from playing in the States altogether.
During the last match against Andorra, there were 20,000 people shouting those old regime slogans.
It wasn't just a handful of outliers or hooligans... it was everyone, young and old, representing the whole country.
It’s the same deal with people yelling "kill the Mexicans"... does that actually mean Mexicans are being hunted down everywhere they go????????
Does it mean "fascists" are out there slaughtering Mexicans all across this nation????

The real issue isn't a concert; it's the organized crime syndicates killing whoever they want and the thieves robbing people every single day...
When 50,000 people show up to a Thompson concert and start shouting all kinds of stuff... that's it. That's the extent of it. There’s no chaos! Nothing!!!! No one is getting killed... there is absolutely zero disorder!!

Meanwhile, you go to a local dive bar with 200 people and someone ends up getting stabbed or shot. Just take a look at the crime reports over the weekend!

Personally, I don't listen to Thompson or any of that country music.
My whole point throughout this discussion has been that Thompson really ought to ask his crowd to stop shouting those slogans. After all, it doesn't align with faith or God, which he claims is one of the core themes of his songs. To me, there's a massive contradiction there.
Even the national soccer players filmed a commercial asking fans to stop using those chants. If Thompson did the same, there wouldn't be any bans or accusations of being a fascist or whatever else they throw at him. That's all I'm trying to say.
As for the mafia and everything else, I agree those are huge problems—definitely bigger than what we're talking about right now—but that's not the topic at hand.

silentbear39 said:Sorry, but I don't think you quite caught my point. Tell me, what kind of emotions would songs about the Homeland War stir up in you if someone closest to you was killed by the Mexican or the American Army during that same war? Personally, I know three families who lost members directly at the hands of the Royalists. I know a veteran whose sister was killed while eight months pregnant by a Royalist, simply because her brother was fighting for his America. What is he supposed to feel when he hears Thompson's lyrics that link him directly back to that tragic era of his life?😢

Like I said before, I hate those shouts like "Kill, kill..." at Markov's concerts, and we all know we have to move forward without hatred, but it's just hard for individuals to erase the horrors of a war they lived through. If I recall correctly, America was defending itself. We didn't go into Mexico shouting "Kill, kill the Mexican." They came here and killed our people on our own soil.

I actually did get your point. In your previous comment, you claimed there’s nothing wrong with what people shout, but now you're saying it triggers these deep emotions—so you basically contradicted yourself, but hey, no worries.
I also know plenty of people who lived through those wartime nightmares, and I'm one of them too... I still remember having to "celebrate" birthdays in a basement while bullets were flying outside and our fathers were somewhere else entirely. I remember seeing a friend's house get leveled... I remember it all very clearly.
But I also remember people who were ethnically Mexican, lived right here, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the local defenders to protect our homes. How do you think those individuals feel when they hear a chant like "Kill the Mexican"?
Thankfully, those horrors are behind us. Making broad generalizations and labeling people based on their nationality, religion, or skin color doesn't achieve anything good today—nor has it ever.

Zachary Kelly4 said:I'm not saying he’s blameless, but you can't pin the stupidity of the idiots crowding his shows on him. And honestly, I don't think lyrics like "Za dom spremni" or "bitter grass" are what trigger this nationalist frenzy. Back during the Homeland War, a whole bunch of different singers and bands were churning out stuff just like that. For example, Golden Ducat put out an entire CD full of those kinds of tunes. You had three marches like "Lowering oneself in thick fog," "Step by step," and "Young Nationalist." The only difference was they swapped out the word Nationalist for American, and nobody batted an eye. Not to mention Duka and his "Americans" and all those other "combat songs." Thompson's tracks were born right in the middle of all that. Now that the dust has settled, those guys act like they're the greatest folk musicians in the country while labeling Thompson an Nationalist. Give me a break.

P.S.
That "give me a break" sentiment isn't directed at you personally, it's about the general vibe surrounding MPT.

People were singing all sorts of things on both sides during the war, but the war is over. There wasn't a single singer back then who didn't record some patriotic anthem, because that's what kept us going. We are long past WWII and the nationalist era, thank God. But why Thompson keeps bringing up those old nationalist slogans? I honestly don't get it. You don't show up to any other local singer's concert wearing nationalist symbols, except his. You don't hear people shouting controversial slogans or those hateful cries... except at his.
Thompson or Tom? in Close to Politics ·
Zachary Kelly4 said:Totally agree, zero connection. Like I said before, this isn't nationalism, it's just pure stupidity. And don't blame Thompson or his songs for it, nor the emotions they stir up. You can't pin it on him when some group of clueless kids decides to put on fascist gear and start chanting "kill the Mexicans." If he wasn't around, they'd be causing chaos somewhere else, probably at an LA Galaxy game during a national match. These kids aren't patriots or even real fans; they're just a bunch of frustrated losers with nothing better to do with their lives. God forbid there was actual fighting again—not one of these guys shouting slogans would step up to the front or pick up a rifle. They'd run for the hills just like everyone who fled back in '91, despite acting all tough about being big Americans in '90.
It's the exact same type of mindless idiots who killed that innocent kid, Luke. He was an American and a huge LA Galaxy fan.

I basically agree with everything you said, BUT:
Are you seriously saying Thompson isn't responsible for them wearing those hats?
Even though I don't listen to him, I know one of his songs starts with a fascist salute, and I know another uses a slogan that was famously used by Pavelić. So, I can't really agree that Thompson is as innocent as you're making him out to be.

Look, I’ve got nothing against national pride—I feel it myself, and I love my country—but what on earth does patriotism have to do with screaming "kill..."? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
