SAP, a total legend for the Spurs 🙏

The day is coming when we finally get rid of that fraud Pochettino, and SAP steps up to actually lead the Spurs back into a title fight ☕

Anthony Jackson2 said:Is it just me, or is this whole situation regarding the footage from the Mayor's trial completely insane?

There’s video of him telling his subordinates to basically manufacture a job opening just to hire one of his cronies—it’s blunt, zero subtlety, and the media reaction isn't just lukewarm; it’s practically non-existent. Then, as if it weren't obvious they're ignoring the actual crime, they pivot the entire narrative to focus on his "communication style" with staff. Like that’s the real issue here 🙏

Did I miss something?

Looking back at the last 20 years in Chicago, 😢

This guy has so much nonsense going on under his hat that, if you look at the weekly data, there's enough evidence there to land someone in federal prison for life, yet absolutely nothing happens. The news media stays silent, the justice system looks the other way, and yet the forum keeps voting for him like clockwork.

That’s the whole kit and caboodle. Why bother with this devilish nonsense—these drunken vultures who dress themselves up like cheap starlets just to poison your spirit by playing on your misplaced sense of machismo? Honestly, wouldn't it be better to just go have a long talk with your local priest?

If I’m reading the room correctly, we’re witnessing a civil war between Thompson’s folk phase and his metal phase.

Noah Roberts46 said:Exactly. I'd put my signature on that. As far as metal goes, maybe just the classics like Sabbath or Maiden, but honestly, the fans who dive into all those subgenres are way more interesting and fun to hang out with than those pretentious indie hipsters.

That’s exactly what I noticed too. In high school, they couldn't even name five Rolling Stones or AC/DC tracks, and then later on, they become die-hard fans. 😁

I agree there. I think AC/DC just radiates this specific energy; the songs are simple and repetitive, but they rarely get boring. Plus, Brian, Angus, the late Malcolm, and Bon are just genuinely likable guys. Watching them live at a stadium... hardly anyone can recreate that kind of atmosphere. 🙏

Queen has about 15 hits that I absolutely love. I tried listening to their entire discography once, but it just didn't work for me.

Man, that mix of AC/DC and those absolute fanatics in Buenos Aires is just top-tier. 🙏 🙏

Matthew Young35 said:At least half of these styles lean heavily on anger, rage, aggression, irony, cynicism, and varying degrees of political incorrectness—often just general provocations.
Punk, metal, and essentially everything born from the lineage of good old-fashioned rock.
It’s been this way since the era of those classic rock ballads.
Take Dylan’s "Knocking on Heaven's Door," where the man is lamenting his impending death because he can no longer kill. Or "Sympathy for the Devil," "Midnight Rambler," Neil Young's "Crime in the City"... the list goes on forever.
Then there is Leonard Cohen. The man has a song detailing how he’ll hunt down the dealers who sold drugs to his girlfriend after she overdosed. He describes her passing with startlingly vivid detail. He even has a cheerful little biblical tune about a father drowning his son on a hillside. Good grief. He even has a collection titled *Flowers for Hitler*.

Broadly speaking, everyone is just trying to shock the system and grab attention.
Naturally, some possess more substance (Cohen, for instance), while others fall somewhat short of the mark.

You're only talking about the lyrics, though. Musically speaking, those tracks don't actually have the heavy weight of metal or the raw fury of punk.

Matthew Young35 said:I was running in those circles back in the early nineties, and it’s been fascinating to watch how almost everyone transitioned into classic rock once the metal scene started to lose its momentum.
It isn't as if they all suddenly swapped their leather jackets for Beatles memorabilia or started obsessing over The Kinks. Instead, most of them leaned heavily into the staples—Queen, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, Dylan, Springsteen, and that whole legendary era.

That is an interesting shift. How does one actually transition from heavy metal to Bruce Springsteen? Hmm.

William Gomez5 said:this stuff gives off major Radiohead vibes😬

In my experience, most people who dig this kind of music—and other subgenres of metal, if we're being specific—aren't actually miserable. If anything, they’re usually some of the funniest, most chill people you'll meet.

Hey steelharbor9, if you ever run into Ode, he can back me up. We have a mutual friend who is a total grouch, a real piece of work, but seriously, no shade intended😁—most people aren't even like that.

Maybe it's because they listen to a mix of everything. Or maybe those heavy emotions really do dominate when you're a teen, but who knows? Back then, I wasn't hanging out with the crowd that listened to this, or maybe we just didn't own up to it.😁

I have to agree. I think metalheads are great people; it’s just the music itself that isn't really my thing.

restlesssurfer97 said:Man, I’m telling you guys, the mods are totally icing me out and won't let me use my permanent account, so if you see me getting quoted again, don't go coming for me, just blame the admins because I'm really not the one causing the drama here. 🤣
I’d totally jump in on that thread if I could, but since my ban finally wore off, I can't actually post there anymore, so I just drifted over here instead only to find out a massive debate has already kicked off, which is honestly pretty great because a good argument always keeps things interesting.

To kick things off, brightpilot6 basically said exactly what you’d expect him to say, which is pretty much his whole thing every single time we do this.
Honestly, man, I’m just completely fed up at this point because for months now, we've been letting certain people absolutely trash this thread with jokes that have the intellectual depth of a ten-year-old who just got his first vaccine, and it honestly only got way worse once those guys caught a little bit of a winning streak and let that whole dopamine-fueled adrenaline rush go straight to their heads. And then, out of nowhere, suddenly everyone starts acting like they're the freaking moderators or something.

Look, Walter Grant5, you really shouldn't be judging everyone else based solely on what you've been through personally, because if I hadn't been constantly popping in and out of this forum, I honestly wouldn't have any clue who was actually doing that. And honestly, this kind of doubles as my response to that little comment from ruggedjackal46 about why I’m even bothering to look for a permanent spot here instead of just walking away for good.
There was this stretch where I just completely vanished for like a full year, you know? But honestly, looking back at the last decade or so, it feels like the gaps where I don't post are actually getting longer than the actual times I'm hanging out here and typing stuff up.
Look, I’m asking for a permanent transfer for actual reasons, not because I’m throwing a tantrum or acting out, and I even went ahead and laid everything out clearly in my post, so let’s get one thing straight right now—what happened with Bryan Adams6 and his three disciplinary cards has absolutely nothing to do with why I'm looking for a move.
Man, I think my username has actually become cursed by its own reputation at this point, which is just wild because it feels like I’ve officially become the Sergio Ramos of this entire forum, if you know what I mean. Like, first off, I ended up racking up more red cards than anyone else here—and I don’t even mean lately, I mean just looking at my track record in general—but then I turn around and read all these haters claiming I’m getting special treatment from the mods, and finally, I’ve gotta pull a parallel like the one ruggedjackal46 always brings up regarding that whole Suarez vs. Ramos drama. You remember how it went with them in the big leagues where they used to punish Suarez so hard they basically kicked him off the pitch, while they punish Ramos by just leaving him out there to run wild, and honestly, that’s exactly the kind of sentence I feel like I’ve just been handed. 🤣🤣

Bryan Adams6, you asked me earlier why I spend my time trolling, and honestly, I’m not even sure if we’re using the same dictionary for that word, because in my book, "trolling" covers a massive spectrum of stuff, so when you look at people who don't troll at all—like Noah Roberts46 over there—they actually end up being the most boring ones around, just totally uninteresting, whereas most of everyone else here is out here trolling.
There’s a whole crowd of them out there who are just straight-up terrible at trolling, like that guy yellow-flagging everything, which is honestly just pathetic because at that point you aren't even being clever, you're basically just spamming the feed and wasting everyone's time.

Michelle Palmer6, look, I wasn't even trying to start any drama or report anyone, honestly, I just noticed that the moderation tools were feeling a bit more streamlined lately and decided to drop a post that fit the current vibe perfectly, only to end up getting hit with an instant ban. 🤦
I'm not exactly looking to be a total hall monitor like Walter Grant5 and go running to the mods to report every little thing, honestly. 🤦I mean, honestly, I think James Anderson5 really hit the nail on the head there.
So you actually went ahead and reported brightpilot6 and restlesssurfer97, and now you’re sitting here posting these massive essays like you're some kind of judge? Honestly, man, it never even crossed my mind to flag that absolute circus of a VB16 clone situation to the mods, I just sat back and watched to see how far that whole psychiatric meltdown would actually go.

I mean, look, if I see someone actually being straight-up abusive or hateful, I’m definitely going to report them, but honestly, reporting every single troll is just a waste of energy because then I’ll end up burning through my report credits way too fast and ruin my whole streak for when it actually matters.

Well, hey everyone, looks like we’re destined to cross paths here again because that’s just how the universe works, I guess, but I'm actually gonna head out for a little vacation for a bit, so let's just see where everything lands when I get back.
I’m honestly only gonna break my vacation if Real Madrid pulls off another Champions League title, because if they actually win the big one again, I'll just have to jump back online and vent about it, but man, looking at them right now, they seem like they're in such a massive slump that I wouldn't be surprised if we see a total blowout on the scoreboard, maybe even something like 1-3 after they face Ajax.

And yeah, just to wrap this up, I actually find myself agreeing with Robert Torres—which is wild because I rarely see eye to eye with him, though not regarding his little accusation that I’m just whining, since we both know that’s total nonsense, but rather on his point to Noah Roberts46 about how banning anyone who doesn't fit a specific mold is basically killing the soul of a forum, leaving nothing behind but a bunch of bland, boring drones. It’s something that Walter Grant5 and even Andrew Hayes2, which was a pleasant surprise if I'm being honest, pointed out too, and honestly, once you let those dry personalities and internet trolls take over the conversation, the whole vibe goes south fast, and it feels like that’s been the direction everything has been heading for the last few years.

Take Patrick Martin, for instance; the guy straight-up tore into me here, but he’s basically a staple of this community at this point, so you just have to give him a warning when he starts going off with those heavy-duty insults, which probably only happens when he's having a rough day at his job in Chicago, because usually, about 80% of what he does is just pure trolling. I mean, there’s no way someone can be that biased toward the Lakers without it being a deliberate joke.

Anyway, enjoy yourselves, everyone; I guess I’m officially the drama queen now, but whatever, someone’s gotta stand their ground every once in a while, just like how Coach Tomlin showed us during that intense matchup against the Steelers.

So, do I deserve one of those two trophies? ☕

If you're actually going to change your handle based on what you just wrote, I suggest: Koba ☕

Look, I’m also against "sterilizing" the trolls, but let’s show a little empathy for the moderators here. It’s a bit unrealistic to expect someone to volunteer their time, sitting at a computer during every single El Clásico, making sure the shouting matches don't spiral into actual insults, and then handing out cards fairly and promptly. But then again, someone has to do it, otherwise, these discussions would just devolve into pure, unadulterated trolling.

So, forget about restlesssurfer97, Bryan Adams6, Michelle Palmer6, or Anthony Jackson2, and forget about Barcelona. As far as I'm concerned, the Real Madrid fans can take a permanent ban for all I care. ☕

So, let me get this straight. Walter Grant5 hangs out with restlesssurfer97 for one last dinner before the big rivalry game, gives him a friendly kiss on the cheek, and then turns him over to the forum mods later that same night? Unbelievable. Honestly, I just hope Andrew Hayes2 at least wired Walter Grant5 a silver medal for his services ☕

I’ve always had a bit of a bone to pick with those historical dramas that try to romanticize courtly life—they feel so fake. That’s why I actually find myself looking forward to films like this one, which portray the royal court as something grotesque and morbid. Honestly, that’s probably how it actually felt back then. With Lanthimos, what’s really fascinating is how he conveys that vibe not just through the characters, but through those unsettling shots and tiny details, like the jarring makeup or those bizarre, awkward dances. If I have one gripe, though, it’s that Lanthimos is so deadly serious and pretentious about his weirdness; it’s like he’s terrified of accidentally being funny. Personally, I think a sense of humor is vital when you’re taking such an unconventional approach. It doesn't need to be a dark comedy, but every moment of levity in this film was top-tier. It’s a shame it wasn't a little more relaxed so we could have seen more of that.

The dynamic between the three female leads is spot on. What looks like "female jealousy" on the surface is actually driven by a desperate need for compensation due to deep-seated trauma—it's pure survival instinct. All three actresses are incredible, especially Olivia Colman. There’s that one scene during the dance where her expression shifts so suddenly it practically gives you chills. Also, this marks my first time actually enjoying a performance from Emma Stone; she usually rubs me the wrong way.

Fun fact : Rachel Weisz is actually older than Olivia Colman.

It was quite the classic showdown, really. A heated debate, feathers flying everywhere... and now, thanks to that, restlesssurfer97 and Justin James10 will be out strolling around town for the next three days instead of hanging out here on the forum. Big deal. ☕

I honestly don't get why restlesssurfer97 was pushing for a permanent ban. Back when we were dealing with those massive fallout debates after the Champions League finals, we probably should have been asking for five bans given how much he was trolling us. But so what? Whether he was messing with people or if he was messing with Justin James10, once you cross the line, you get wiped and penalized, and life goes on. Or maybe it doesn't go on—maybe he just stays off the forum and stops posting. Yeah, a permanent ban sounds about right. 🤦

What a total insult to all those respected VRM13 members who spent years grinding on the Real Madrid thread defending the club's honor.

Classic Madridista behavior. While the rest of the squad was out there pouring their blood on the field, they were busy reducing Real Madrid to nothing more than "BBC."
