ruggedhawk20 said:So you're saying Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel are basically on the same level?

Pretty much. Though most experts would still argue that Lewis Hamilton is the most complete driver out there...

ruggedhawk20 said:Yeah, but if Lewis Hamilton had stayed at Ferrari—he would've been number one. Right? You're always claiming Lewis Hamilton is a class above Sebastian Vettel

That’s just not true. I never said Lewis Hamilton was *that* much better than Vettel. Honestly, no actual expert would say that either. I just think Lewis Hamilton is slightly better than Vettel, and that's where I leave it. Besides, even with Lewis Hamilton, that Ferrari wouldn't have gotten any further than second place...

That’s what I’ve been telling you for years—Vettel is just better in almost every way 😁

The only thing he can't beat at a dive bar 🙂
and it's not like he hasn't tried 😢

You're right, he's a total champion here too

"I'm going home...!" 😂 😂 😂

Well, they're still second again... 🤣

I don't see how Ferrari is "better" when they're constantly finishing second. They were second in 2010, second in 2012, second in 2013, and still second in 2015... I honestly don't get what's supposed to have changed here.

Look, I’m telling you, he was just fed up with always being stuck in second place—he actually believed all those promises they made him at Ferrari...👋

Sebastian Vettel: Bad news—the gap to Mercedes hasn't budged

After the first free practice sessions in Barcelona, Sebastian Vettel noted that Mercedes' edge remains untouched. It looks like even with a massive haul of new parts, Ferrari just couldn't close that gap significantly.

- We can definitely still find more speed. Even though the gap was officially four-tenths, honestly, it felt way bigger looking at the whole day. I haven't dug into the long stints yet, but it seems like Mercedes' advantage is still right where it was – said Vettel.

- That’s not great news for us – Vettel added.

Looks like nothing from Ferrari again this year. Alonso made the right call moving on🙂

What an absolute disaster from Vettel in Bahrain—he messed up at least four times. Rosberg blew past him three separate times, and then to top it all off, Vettel couldn't even find a way to pass a single Williams. "stormybadger8"... yeah, right...

Edward Howard2 said:but they're out here acting like second place was some massive trophy win 🙏 basically handed to them on a silver platter 🙏

Come on, don't be like that—Kimi Räikkönen earned that second place.
I want to apologize to everyone here—after rewatching the race, I’m convinced Vettel actually outpaced Rosberg and Hamilton ON TRACK. Honestly, I was watching it the second I woke up, half-asleep and barely processing anything before I drifted right back to sleep... totally blanked on it at first 😬 and all without the commentators, too—had to keep it quiet since my brother was sleeping. Actually, maybe I should've just stayed asleep... the whole race was kind of a letdown.
jadeseal7 said:Honestly, when I saw that puncture today, I just let out a long sigh—it reminded me of the days when things were even more chaotic. I mean, remember when we had rear wings flapping off or suspension components snapping on the final lap? Those were the days...

EDIT: These photos are fantastic, Tibi—really quite ironic, aren't they?

That suspension failure was totally his own fault. Man, that win felt so good... god, it was sweet.🙂
Michael Diaz4 said:Mercedes doesn't have top-tier DRIVERS right now, whereas today Vettel showed exactly what kind of driver he is. He's the best out there currently, no question... you saw it today. I think Nico Rosberg will step up now because he's more grounded than the arrogant and, let's be honest, not-so-bright Hamilton... Mercedes has a much better car, but they lack the drivers, which is something Vettel can exploit if he has a fast enough machine. The big question is what happens when the weather turns cold. I'm not sure if Ferrari can even compete with Mercedes then; Mercedes might actually thrive in the rain due to better grip, but they won't have Vettel...

Hamilton isn't an elite driver? Good grief... I don't even know what else to say to you...🤦

While Vettel showed exactly what he's capable of today—proving he's easily the best driver out there right now—there's just no debating it... You could see it clearly today...

So, if he’s really all that—the absolute best—then why didn't we see any of that back in Melbourne? Seriously... if he's such a big deal, how come Hamilton and Rosberg weren't even in his league, yet they still managed to beat him there... 😂
stormybadger8 said:He’s got plenty of excuses, but the bottom line is he never felt like he truly belonged in that squad. Honestly, he didn't even feel wanted. The beginning of the end was really Malaysia 2013. 😉
Ricciardo and that whole 2014 season? They’re just the fallout from all of that...

Basically, Malaysia 2013 marked the end of an era, while Malaysia 2015 was the start of a whole new one. 🙂

Wait, so he didn't feel "at home" with the exact same team he won FOUR—yes, all four—titles with???🤦 🤦 🤦

Just come out and admit it—Ricardo played him, and he did it right under Vettel's nose. Honestly, even Lewis Hamilton didn't pull a fast one on Alonso 2007 quite like Ricardo did to Sebastian Vettel.
stormybadger8 said:That’s probably why he’s your favorite idiot in this whole mess...😁
Honestly, just looking back at how much some teams fell apart right after he left, everything becomes pretty obvious.

I really want to see if some random rookie can actually jump into his seat at McLaren and start grabbing podiums and wins in their very first season.😁

Come on, explain to me how Vettel managed to turn last year's total junk into a winning car in less than three months?????

The driver’s job is to provide feedback—it's up to the engineers, and Ferrari has over 500 of them, to actually build the car. This machine was designed long before Finger even showed up. He arrived when the work was basically finished.
Michael Diaz4 said:He had more mechanical failures, which was the main issue, and honestly, the car just didn't suit his driving style. Comparing a four-time consecutive world champion to a rookie driver is just... well, it’s misplaced and frankly a bit silly. Without Michael Schumacher around, Formula 1 is only worth watching because of Sebastian Vettel. He proved once again today that he's the greatest. In those head-to-head battles, he absolutely smoked them.👋

Cut the crap, man—you're reaching. In those three wins, Sebastian Vettel didn't have a single breakdown; he was just absolutely smoking Sebastian on pure pace. 👋

...plus, the car just wasn't clicking for him. I mean, comparing a four-time consecutive champ to some rookie is just... hmm, misplaced and honestly pretty dumb. Without Michael Schumacher, Formula 1 is basically only worth watching because of Vettel. He proved today he's the GOAT... he just completely dismantled them in those head-to-head battles...👋

He won because of a solid pit strategy—he didn't actually overtake anyone on track for the lead 👋 not even Mass in the last race 👋
Michael Diaz4 said:Beep, beep, did Sebastian Vettel suddenly learn how to drive, or did maybe Fernando Alonso just forget how?😒 Sebastian Vettel is in a solid team on a track that really suits Ferrari—he even mentioned that three days ago, and Kimi agreed. As the best driver on the grid, he took the win without any issues. He is the best Formula 1 driver these days... No doubt...:klap:

Then explain to me how he got absolutely smoked by Ricardo in the exact same car last year... 👋>
I’m seriously considering just walking away from Formula 1 altogether because these races are absolute garbage.

Ps. Someone please wake me up when McLaren actually starts winning again...👋
Jack Kelly5 said:I get the excitement and the hype, I really do, but maybe don't go too overboard with it.... Vettel drove both those races incredibly well, sure, but his actual contribution to making the car this fast is probably pretty negligible.

The absolute dumbest argument out there is the idea that a driver is the one actually developing the car🤣🤣🤣
stormybadger8 said:Back in 2007, STR was a total junker that spent the whole season praying for even a single point. Then Vettel jumps in mid-season, and by the very next year, he’s already winning races with that exact same STR.
Ever since Vettel left, STR has basically become a total joke again. ☕

Back in 2009, Red Bull Racing was just a mid-field squad dreaming they might snag a top five finish if things got messy enough. Then Vettel shows up in 2009, and suddenly they’re title contenders—eventually crushing it with four straight championships right after.
They started messing with his head as far back as Malaysia 2013, and the kid already knew he had to get out of that dump. So, he pulls the trigger at the end of 2014, and wouldn't you know it? Red Bull Racing is right back to being a mid-field squad just dreaming of a top 5 finish in a chaotic race. ☕

Back in 2015, that Ferrari was basically a dumpster fire dreaming of a podium finish. They spent their Sundays practically praying to the heavens just to get a sniff of a trophy. Then Sebastian Vettel rolls up to Ferrari and—presto—suddenly they’re magic. Two races in and suddenly there's a win and a podium on the table. What a joke.🙏 So, you're just flat-out against the team that’s absolutely dominated everything for the last 20-plus years... classic.

Honestly, at the end of the day, it all just comes down to the car. 😍

Of course it's about the car. Ricardo proved that perfectly last year when he completely wiped the floor with Vettel.

You're just being delusional if you think Vettel deserves all the credit.🤦
stormybadger8 said:And what does that have to do with strategy?
That’s about tire degradation, not strategy...
Sebastian Vettel was actually able to nurse his tires and finish the race with just two stops, whereas the Mercedes crew knew from the jump their drivers couldn't pull that off...
If Mercedes had somehow tried a two-stop strategy, Sebastian Vettel would have left them in the dust by more than 30 seconds.☕

Given how much those tires were wearing out, Mercedes deciding to grab fresh rubber under the SC was a damn good tactical move.😉

Lewis Hamilton should have stayed out to defend first place using the same strategy as Sebastian Vettel.
