Monaco GP 2015

I wasn't kidding when I said Hamilton looked absolutely clueless out there. Such a massive talent, too... what a waste.

Team boss Toto Wolff admitted they made a massive call error during the closing stages of the Monaco GP.
"Yeah, we absolutely ruined Lewis Hamilton's race. We just didn't read the gap to Nice correctly—total miscalculation. All we can really do now is apologize. I feel terrible for Lewis, and honestly, I feel for the crew who made such a bad call. We should have cruised to a perfect 1-2 finish today. We need to sit down, dig into what went wrong, and send Lewis Hamilton a formal apology," Toto Wolff said right after the race wrapped up.
Just thinking out loud here—what should the 2017 lineup actually look like before Red Bull Racing makes their move...

Highlighting part of Lewis Hamilton's response:
I saw a screen, it looked like the team was out and I thought that Nico Rosberg had pitted. Obviously I couldn't see the guys behind so I thought the guys behind were pitting. The team said to stay out, I said “these tyres are going to drop in temperature,” and what I was assuming was that these guys would be on Options and I was on the harder tyre. So, they said to pit. without thinking i came in with full confidence that The others Had Dona The same.
So, his team told him to stay out. It was probably just a massive misunderstanding... He could've just asked if his rivals had already pitted, though.

jadeseal7 said:If Ferrari doesn't show more pace and grab a win at the next race, their upgrades are basically useless... We're all just waiting on those power unit update details they promised.
slydrifter39 said:If I recall correctly, he totally blew it by trying to overtake Vitaly Petrov in a much slower car. The strategy was just off—he didn't realize Sebastian Vettel was going to be the champion, instead he was too busy worrying about that wreck of a car driven by Mark Webber... 👍
stormybadger8 said:That’s exactly what sets the real drivers apart—and honestly, that's why I respect him way more than Fernando Alonso starting today...
They were all pretty close until now—but honestly, Hamilton is clearly on a whole different level... 👍
slydrifter39 said:We all know... Fernando Alonso basically screwed himself. Or maybe it was Di Grassi? Or Vitaly Petrov? Or Robert Kubica when Fernando didn't give him the spot back and ended up with that penalty at the British GP? Or maybe Lewis Hamilton in Valencia? Hehe.
Raymond Ortiz89 said:So that's how you see it...
So you're basically saying you know Hamilton and Vettel are better drivers than Alonso... 🙂🙂🙂
You're just digging your own grave...
stormybadger8 said:It’s the same old criteria...
If you don't cause damage to another driver, there's usually no penalty...
Kimi wasn't forced off the track and his car was fine... but Hulk got pushed out, lost a ton of positions, and had to pit because of the damage...
That's how they always judge things whenever it's a gray area—something sitting right on the line between a racing incident and something worth a harsh penalty. That's exactly why Fernando Alonso's penalty was so minimal in the first place...
slydrifter39 said:Don't get worked up—title counts don't tell the whole story... I mean, Alonso had a killer car back in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2010.
Michael Diaz4 said:He messed up by actually listening to them. A real champion—someone truly elite—would never have done that in a spot like this...
Michael Diaz4 said:Look, he drove his heart out in both races—couldn't have done any better...
