“Max is just more aggressive. He might slip up more often because of that edge, but honestly? He’s better than Hamilton. Things are too easy for Hamilton to win it all with Bottas by his side as a second driver.

“It’s kind of like how Mansell and myself in Williams operated—everyone else was just miles behind. I took the '87 title, even though I wasn't quite at my peak after that early season accident and struggling with the field depth... but I got it, with a little luck. I really should've clinched it in '86, but '87 was the year.

“But man, it was simple. The car was in a league of its own. And let's be real, Mercedes has been leagues ahead of everyone else for years now.

“It’s not that Hamilton lacks talent. It’s just that he’s had an inferior teammate, and his predecessor [Nico Rosberg] was even tougher to beat. He [Nico Rosberg] only managed to win because Hamilton was dealing with crashes and DNFs that year.”

Nelson Piquet Jr, who had that short stint in F1 driving for Renault alongside Fernando Alonso back in '08-'09, chimed in: “I think there are two main factors here: Lewis' experience and Max's drive. Lewis has been in F1 for 15 seasons and I think that, over time, you just start losing that raw hunger. Meanwhile, Max is coming at it like he has a knife between his teeth.

“Lewis has already stacked up seven championships, so he carries a different kind of 'fire.' That matters.

“I see Max more like an MMA fighter—always ready to jump into any fight. It’s a totally different vibe than Lewis, who’s already conquered everything and so on.

“While Lewis' experience gives him an edge in certain spots, Max's sheer willpower and aggression carry more weight.”

Pike 🙏 I don't care for his son, but after hearing this, the older one has earned my respect...

And Max is out there hanging with his daughter...😁

A penalty only happens if someone overtakes Hamilton—like Red Bull Racing did. And from what I know, he didn't actually get penalized; they just voluntarily let him through. I have a feeling Max had enough of a gap to pull more than 5 seconds ahead by the end, but Red Bull decided to play it fair against a "dirty" Mercedes and a protected Hamilton.

Poor Vettel getting stuck with a penalty because of Nikita Mazepin... wasn't even his fault, he couldn't even react in time.

He got an order from Race Control via RB. And word is, the penalty would have been 10 seconds anyway.

There's no point bringing up examples from other races or different seasons when the rules weren't even the same back then. Max accepted the loss, Christian Horner accepted it, even Helmut Marko accepted it. But you just can't...

Hey, I can accept it too. It’s just... I'm frustrated with the FIA. Honestly. Though I did get told I shouldn't let it get to me because this was basically a favor for a favor. See, the FIA gave Red Bull Racing the engine freeze, and in exchange, they expect Red Bull Racing to throw a race or something. Formula 1 is all about politics...

Still, Max has a fast car—even Mercedes admits that—and with budget caps in place, it’s going to be a real struggle for Mercedes to catch up.

Same track, same corner—Lewis-Vettel situation, where Lewis does the exact same move when overtaking and gets zero penalty. Man, this FIA...

Richard Walker38 said:It wasn't just Lewis testing positive—a bunch of them dealt with it during the break. Leclerc, Gasly, Norris, Stroll plus Perez, and Hamilton at some point during the season... maybe a few others, I didn't catch everyone, but basically, they all caught it back in January 😬. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say maybe they were advised to get it over with during the off-season just to stay clear for the season 😁
.
I know I read somewhere that Toto picked some up too, and even old man Stroll—lots of them, actually.

Honestly, I doubt the ones who didn't test positive weren't vaccinated—it's all handled through those private channels. If the little guys are scrambling for shots, then these guys definitely are too.

Man, I just remembered—you know, even someone who got the shot can still test positive. They could still spread it...

12 positive cases in Bahrain

Formula 1 announced they found 12 positive Corona cases during last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.

They ran about 8,150 tests between March 22nd and 28th—testing everyone from the drivers and crew to the support staff and media folks.

"We had 12 positive cases. The FIA and Formula 1 will be releasing this info after every Grand Prix to stay transparent while keeping the whole paddock safe," the Formula 1 statement said.

Two cases were confirmed within the Aston Martin team, and one person from the Channel 4 media crew also tested positive.

The Formula 1 season rolls on with the race at Imola on April 18th.

I wonder if Max got vaccinated?

We know Luis already had it, so he's probably got those antibodies now...

Richard Walker38 said:You could look at that fight between Leclerc and Verstappen at Silverstone—but honestly, you can't blame the drivers there. It’s the FIA's fault for not enforcing the rules properly. Even Brundle pointed out right after the duel, "he took the position outside of the track," but nothing happened... no reaction at all.

🤦

Back in 2006, he and Sumia were neck and neck right up until the penultimate race—then Sumia's engine just gave out while trying to hold off Alonso. They actually had the exact same points at that stage... ended up with Ferrari finishing the season just one win ahead of Renault.

Richard Walker38 said:I thought I was dealing with people who actually write realistically and look at things objectively... instead, most of these posts are just straight-up teenage levels of nonsense. Look, I don't like Hamilton for other reasons, but claiming he spent the MAJORITY of his career in the best car is just pure idiocy. We're talking about a 14-year career—for the last two seasons, sure, he basically strolled through because the car was so dominant. But before that? Back in those early McLaren years, the car was good, but definitely not superior—he was actively fighting Alonso and Kimi. Then McLaren eventually turned into a total wreck. During his first three years at Mercedes-Benz, the team was still building up, and he was constantly battling Rosberg. After Rosberg left, he had a 40-point lead over Vettel in 2017 only because Vettel had two DNFs in the second half of the season—plus, in that season and the one after, Vettel basically shot himself in the foot a few times and handed the title to Hamilton.

Sure, 2019 and 2020 were a bore because there was zero competition, but saying he had a superior car for the MAJORITY of his career is just idiotic.

Hamilton debuted in 2007

From 2007 to 2013—that's 7 years where he didn't have a dominant car.

From 2014 (since the start of the hybrid era) to 2020, he sat in a dominant car. That's also 7 years.

And now, in those 7 years, he took 6 titles with a dominant car. Everyone just fixates on that and nothing else...

analogpilot16 said:Yeah, he overtook him by being too fast and having to go off track. Just think about it—if you think that’s okay, what happens to future overtakes in Formula 1? Everyone would just charge at someone and then dive off the track at higher speeds to pass them. It doesn't work like that. You have to stay within the track limits. I don't get why that's so hard to grasp...

Well, then Hamilton should've been penalized for going off track 29 times to gain that 6-second advantage. If we're being fair...

wiredseal7 said:So, Helmut Marko is saying Max Verstappen had to dial back the engine power because of that differential issue—which basically means he wasn't running at full tilt during the battle. You could definitely see Lewis Hamilton being a bit quicker on the straights right before Max Verstappen pulled into the DRS zone... probably due to that power gap.
