I forgot to mention that I'm planning to play on my Samsung 49-inch TV.
So, it’s just the graphics card I need to worry about... I should probably start saving up. I've done some reading, but I'd value your input: do you think an NVIDIA GTX 1070 is enough? I don't necessarily need everything set to ultra, but hitting a steady 60 fps would be ideal.

To be honest, I don't have much technical expertise, which is why I'm asking here. Nothing is set in stone yet. My first step is to figure out exactly what needs replacing and how much trade-in value I can expect. If the budget doesn't hold up, I might just opt for something more modest.

I am looking to make the jump to 4K gaming soon, so I am trying to figure out what upgrades are necessary and what kind of resale value I might expect for my current setup.

PSU: Xfx Pro 550W
RAM: 8GB
I realize I will need a new GPU, a better power supply, and an additional 8GB of RAM, but I am uncertain if the CPU and motherboard need replacing as well.
I am considering picking up an NVIDIA GTX 1080; what are your thoughts on that choice?

I think I’ll go ahead and pick up a new monitor after all. It feels like I won't see much of a difference if I just upgrade my graphics card while sticking with my old screen. I really want to experience that visual jump.
At least now I have a clear picture of where I stand and how much cash I can pull in. I’m going to run the numbers one more time to see what my final budget looks like. Once that's settled, I’ll start a fresh thread so we don't clutter this one with estimates.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole thinking there might be some actual difference, maybe something newer or improved. After doing a little digging, I realized they're essentially identical, aside from how HDMI handles audio. Let's just move past that then. xD

That was my initial thought, but the maximum resolution is only 1690x1050. I feel like I wouldn't be fully utilizing a high-end graphics card at that resolution. I'm not entirely sure if those two things are directly linked, but it seems likely. Plus, it lacks an HDMI port.

Regarding the coolers, I plan to sell the Accelero along with the GPU (which will allow me to bump up the price 😁), and I'll just move the Freezer over to whichever new CPU I end up getting.

Thanks for the help. I'll likely list everything on Craigslist soon at those prices. As for the monitor, I'm still weighing my options since they seem to go for anywhere between $50 and $100, so I'll aim for something in the middle. I think I'll hang onto the power supply; hopefully, it still has some life left in it. 🙂

I initially shared my thoughts on these $467 without much prior knowledge, but after doing some deeper research, I realize I’m actually closer to what Benjamin King2 suggested.
However, is that price $333 just for the entire setup?? Would I potentially get more if I sold the components individually? Any idea what they might go for?

For the monitor, I'm looking at roughly $467. I believe that is a reasonable amount.

It is finally time to retire my old PC and start saving for a new build. I am trying to figure out what its resale value might be, but I am not quite sure how to price it properly. Perhaps someone here can help me 🙂

RAM: 2 GB (brand unknown)
Power Supply: Zalman ZM500-GS (I am undecided on whether to include this, as I am still determining if 500W will suffice for my upcoming $650-$750 build)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-2014S1T ATA Device
Case: A basic Micro Center case; I doubt it is worth more than $33 (name is forgotten)
I do not plan on selling the hard drive since I just purchased a new one recently.
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 2232 BW, 22"

Please feel free to suggest prices for individual components or for the entire setup as a bundle.

P.S. I am also wondering if these two coolers are compatible with newer or more powerful CPUs and GPUs. Since both are relatively recent, I am considering keeping them.
