At 60 or 75 Hz, you might see a drop if you went with an ultrawide setup 😁
Honestly, 1440p at 144Hz is non-negotiable for me. I don't mind tweaking a few settings to keep things smooth—I think an RTX 3080 would handle it just fine. I'd even consider giving up an IPS panel if I had to 😉
We'll see. There's still plenty of time before Christmas rolls around 😁 😁
It’s practical—basically the only real option you'll find in the US with an IPS panel and those specific specs.
If you want to spend less than what's listed above, you're looking at a TN panel and 1080p resolution. Honestly, you might be able to dodge the TN panel altogether if you pivot.
Man, for that kind of cash, you're better off grabbing a 27" 144Hz monitor with G-Sync and pairing it with a used RTX 3080 or 4070 rather than sticking with a G-Sync/Vega 64 combo.🤔
Alright folks, I’m looking for some recommendations for a 1440p/144Hz monitor—ideally something with G-Sync support. I'd prefer an IPS panel if possible. Budget isn't really an issue here... mostly because there is no budget. LP
It’s most likely a motherboard issue—I ran into something similar when I picked up my last one used. It wouldn't recognize the keyboard, mouse, or any of the USB ports, which actually prevented the PC from even booting up. A hard reset worked for me—specifically, clearing the CMOS using the motherboard jumper. Link shows you how to go about it. Check your motherboard manual to find where the jumper is located; if that doesn't do the trick, try replacing the CMOS battery.
Either there’s some sort of short occurring between the cables—or the connectors—and the motherboard, or the hard drive itself is failing. If it's the latter, the system might be triggering an emergency shutdown during vibration just to prevent data corruption.
Nice! I'm putting together a used rig for some gaming. Specs:
i5 2500k ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x 4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM ASUS GTX 770 Zalman Z3 EVGA SuperNOVA 600W Some random HDD I have lying around
Do I have any headroom to overclock the CPU—or maybe the GPU? Not sure if this power supply can handle it.
Thanks for the tip, Timothy Kim60, but I can't get my hands on an FSP unit locally.
The situation has shifted slightly—I’ll likely end up going with the Asus GTX 770 2GB after all. It pulls about 230-250W, and the minimum requirements suggest a 600W PSU at the very least. I need some guidance on which power supply to pick.
Here is what's available:
EVGA 80 Plus Bronze 600w single 12+ rail — $60 EVGA 600w Single rail — $56 EVGA Bronze 600w Single rail — $72
Hey everyone, what kind of PSU would you recommend for a GTX 760? The specs suggest a 500W minimum—would a Corsair VS550 be enough to get the job done?
Alright, I’m working with a pretty tight budget—somewhere in the $300-$350 range—and I’m looking to get some gaming done. 😁
If you were in my shoes, how would you approach this?
New build options: Intel Core i5 with integrated graphics, 8GB DDR3 2133 MHz RAM (2x4GB), and a 275GB SSD
Used build options: i5 2500k, ASUS ROG Maximus, Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x 4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM—as for the GPU, I'm torn between an EVGA GeForce RTX or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX.
What's the verdict? Should I play it safe with something new, or go the used route?
Fair enough—let’s say I was pushing it a bit too far with that 315 figure. All I really wanted to figure out was whether it’s actually worth sinking money into that overclock, or if I should just leave things at stock and call it a day. I'll see—I still have a few days to chew on it. 😁 Anyway, thanks everyone!
It’s not exactly a massive price gap between the i7 and the i5 overclocked. I'll most likely just end up going with this cheapest option anyway.—budget wins again.
Not just yet—I’m heading out to pick everything up next week, so I'm currently deep in the research phase, trying to weigh every possible option to ensure I get the most bang for my buck. 😁
EDIT: The i7k is looking a bit too pricey for me right now—plus, I’d have to factor in an extra cooler. Honestly, with the 6400, I can push the stock cooling pretty far without much trouble.
