Like, if gas hits $5 a gallon—which is basically mandatory since you can't get around without a car in most parts of the US—they're just stuck.

Cairo and all those other Gulf states are probably going to be one giant bonfire pretty soon.
I'm still holding out hope that the 2022 FIFA World Cup final happens at Wembley Stadium. Or maybe Beijing if things go south.
I’m not exactly a huge Lionel Messi fan, but if this guy is supposedly sitting on Mount Olympus because of how he acts both on and off the pitch, then maybe Argentinians aren't really the gold standard for judging greatness, even if they are their own.
I guess we could have said the same thing about your baseless takes earlier. But you aren't alone; even Nina Raspudić seems to be joining in on the general nonsense. Honestly, she knows about climate change about as much as Mary knows about algebra, yet she—along with a bunch of other know-it-alls from our local media outlets—insists on weighing in on absolutely everything...
George Soros, globalists, fake news, libtards, blah blah blah—see, I can be even louder than you!
The Expanse takes a minute to get moving; those first 5 or 6 episodes feel painfully slow. But once it hits its stride, it just keeps getting better. Since Amazon took over, I’m guessing the production value will actually look decent for once, unlike that budget they were working with on Syfy.
Anyway, I’m just finishing up the second book, and honestly, I'm pretty pissed at how much they changed, added, or cut from the show.
Chilavert was in goal. For me, this guy still sticks in my mind because of that celebration against Norway—now he's just some pundit over at ESPN.
Anyway, we're kind of off track here.
Speaking of semifinals, I’m actually curious if anyone in the FIFA archives has full footage, or even just extended newsreels, of those two semifinal matches from the first World Cup back in 1930. (both ended 6-1, by the way).
I was born in '89, so I remember '98 in France pretty vividly. Honestly, I remember it better than any other World Cup since. If you threw random scores from that tournament at me, I could probably nail most of them. Brazil? Not so much.
That was actually the only tournament where I sat through all 64 matches. I’ll admit, I almost passed out during Paraguay - Bulgaria.

To be honest, I can barely make sense of his rhetoric, but even he seems to realize the fundamental truth here: this wasn't a real referendum. Even if they somehow managed to count a 90% vote for independence, nothing is actually going to change. It was a complete sham designed to mislead the public. People poured out into the streets with genuine passion, braved physical confrontations, and stood waiting outside polling stations for results, all for what? Absolutely nothing. It’s as if the whole ordeal never even happened.
Total waste of effort. Washington, D.C. already won this one. I guess nothing moves unless you have the world on your side—you know, the EU and the USA. If they actually had that backing, they could declare independence tomorrow and nobody would blink.
