"Come on, come on... I gotta find something that actually catches my eye"
Arthur Sanders74 said:Alright, Jack Cook7, listen—I’m craving some Smokvica, Greece this week, but there's no way I'm getting there through moussaka.

You gotta have meat with it. We aren't Turks, for crying out loud.

You jerk! You just want those Smokvica, Greece! 🙂

Just so you know, I'm gonna sue you in front of your whole family!
PS: "Smokvica, Greece" was actually this famous softcore flick back in the 70s, where the wildest part was basically just seeing some ladies with bare boobs.
Arthur Sanders74 said:The only thing I care about right now is some moussaka.

I’m gonna look down at Niš from the sky and just bomb it with nothing but love and pure chaos. 🙂

In America, we just call it moussaka. It was basically meat for the sheriffs, and for the rest of us, it was a veggie feast once a week back when it was our go-to celebration meal.
Oh, come on, Jerry Robinson56, this guy's been trying to pass off crocodiles as alligators for years now.

What’s next? Caimans? I mean, what kind of shape do you guys think we're in over here in America if we can't even tell a crocodile from an alligator or a caiman?

Look, obviously we know the difference. It's just that Arthur Sanders74 is always out here trying to blur the lines.
Arthur Sanders74 said:Look, let's be clear about this self-ban mode thing! 🧐

I wasn't trying to follow the Politburo's rules—I just went rogue. 🕺

To make matters worse, my total moral meltdown was fueled by the fact that clearing my cache on my laptop wiped out all my saved passwords too. 😬

He’s just playing for nothing, that’s his only real skill.

Haha, I’ve heard plenty of stories about people building massive careers in music without even knowing how to read a single note. Guess some people just have that raw, natural talent.

I could probably pull it off too; I can't read music any better than he can, and I've got a voice just like Dylan's.

He was the first guy in the small towns of northeastern Canada to pass an IQ test on Facebook, so now he won't shut up about it. 😁

What's your problem with folks in rural northeastern Canada having access to Facebook? 🙂
Arthur Sanders74 said:And why on earth did you completely ignore the version of Nancy Pelosi that's fifty years younger, plus a young Era from Split? 😉

Seriously though, when are those guys just arriving in Split going to stop with all these bizarre local customs? 🤷
Linda King said:Alright, don't go posting here if anyone finds this. I can't deal right now, so I'll catch you guys later.

When I see your username pop up in a thread about politics or anything serious, honestly? It just hits me hard. Like, what a massive waste of potential. A total tragedy, really. I get this wave of pure melancholy washing over me—just mourning the loss of what could have been if you actually used your brain. I don't know, man. May God help you.

Getting the hang of things. Slowly but surely.
I can't see the image you linked! You gotta upload the actual pic or tell me what's going on in it if you want me to weigh in. My eyes aren't working through links today, haha. Send it over!
The whole thing is that you end up finding your own way to a solution. (Seriously, don't even bother reading the comments under a Twitter post). It’s super straightforward, and honestly, it's basically what politics is all about.
To my own shame, I actually had to laugh at myself once it clicked—not because it took me ten seconds to get it, but because I didn't realize just how simple the answer was right in front of me. 🙈

PS: It's not that I went wrong with politics, it's more like politics decided to go rogue on me. 🙂
Linda King said:Just line the apples up at a two-thirds offset, and cut through them both with one slice. You'll end up with two large pieces, each of which go to one person, and two small pieces, both of which go to the third person.

Honestly, I’m not even mad that I gave up. There was no way I would've figured that out on my own.

That was actually the first thing that popped into my head. 😁

But then I realized something felt off—there's no way something that simple is supposed to be an actual intelligence test.

It took me maybe 10 seconds to find the SECOND solution, and honestly, it's the most logical one. 😁
Linda King said:It doesn't say anything about not being allowed to toss a quarter... 🤣

Look, that’s option number three. I just hate wasting food. 🥳

I was saying the perfect fix is actually political, but honestly, it only hit me after I spent ten seconds staring blankly at my screen like an idiot. 🙈
Alright, let's get political for a second. 😁

Look, we all love a good IQ test, especially when they confirm what we already think—that we're geniuses. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fu6Cy64a...jpg&name=small

It took me a solid ten seconds of staring at this thing, wondering where the catch was, before I finally remembered the OTHER solution. Guess I'm not quite the rocket scientist I thought I was after all! 🕺
Smart guy with a bright future ahead of him, bravo! 👍

Devil's advocate here: you still gotta take a break from the Democratic Party once in a while. 🥳
rowdytiger13 said:If I were losing sleep over everything happening in some tiny corner of the world and trying to link it all back to American imperialism, I’d be losing my mind too.

So basically, you don't care and you don't even try, which means you probably don't even need a vacation.

Lucky you. 🕺
Honestly, I lose my cool once in a while too, just to clear my head. 😢
Absolute madness!! 18++ of Putin's unhinged, raging beasts are tearing into Ukrainian sacred sites!

Luckily, they failed miserably! 👋
Look, technically speaking, this is child's play. I’ve probably done this hundreds of times myself, and so have the guys I mentioned earlier. (Though, honestly, I haven't touched this kind of stuff in ages)

I'm positive you can find someone to get this sorted for you, but my advice? Just head to a repair shop or a local tech hub. Trying to schedule an on-site visit at a client's place is always such a massive headache. Getting the hardware connected, making sure the drive is recognized, and checking the file system? That’s maybe a 10-minute job per drive.
The catch is, you spend all that time looking through the files, and then you're copying everything onto whatever media you brought along before wiping the original disk right in front of you. That whole process—the browsing, the transferring, and the erasing—isn't part of those initial 10 minutes. Depending on how much data we're talking about, that could easily turn into hours.

If you don't happen to have a buddy who does this, you should probably budget around $15 to $20 an hour.
Look, it’s technically super simple. It really just comes down to whether you want to drop a few bucks to have someone migrate everything over to a new drive—which, let's be real, means you'll be facing this exact same headache again in five or ten years anyway—and then maybe give away or sell the wiped gear for peanuts.

Personally? I hate the idea of tossing out perfectly good hardware. It’s such a waste when it could still get some decent use out of it. But hey, at the end of the day, I can't exactly live my life relying on everyone else's tech skills.
If those drives are still working—which they probably are—it’d be a total waste to just toss them. Plus, it’s sketchy, you know? Someone could always dig through the trash and scrape your private photos off them.

Maybe try donating them to a local non-profit or a tech charity that knows their stuff. They can usually get even ancient hardware running perfectly fine with a lightweight Linux distro. Just make sure you insist they wipe all your old pictures first!

But hey, if you aren't feeling the whole donation thing, my advice? Grab a hammer and give those disks a little "love" before you drop them in the e-waste bin at Best Buy.
That drive is a 3.5" PATA (Parallel ATA/IDE) model.
https://www.goharddrive.com/Seagate-...p/g01-0122.htm

Yeah, you can definitely hook this up to a computer, but you’re gonna need
1. A power supply—if you look all the way on the right side of the photo, there's a 4-pin connector. https://cdn3.volusion.com/ovay6.hxgv...G01-0122-3.jpg

2. A PATA (IDE) interface on the PC (it's on the far left, those 40 pins split into two rows).

3. A PATA cable (there are a few different types out there).

Modern PCs haven't used PATA interfaces in forever. So, you'll either have to hunt down an old desktop (maybe 10+ years old) or just grab a PATA (40-pin) to SATA adapter, like this:

Oh, and don't forget you'll need a power cable from the PC with the right connector to make it spin.

There's also a workaround where you use a PATA to USB interface, and then you handle the power through a separate USB cable.

It's actually pretty straightforward if you know your way around hardware and have the gear on hand. Honestly, any local repair shop could probably knock this out for you in ten minutes tops.

Once you've tackled the hardware connection part, *then* we can start talking about getting the OS or the file system recognized so you can actually move your data. It's most likely some version of NTFS or FAT32, so your current PC (Windows 7 or Windows 10) shouldn't have any trouble reading it.
Laptop battery issues in Laptops ·
Michael Jackson10 said:I can totally back up what Jack Cook7 said. My old laptop had a battery that barely lasted about an hour and a half. I didn't even touch it for maybe three months, just left it sitting in a room that was kept around 60 degrees... when I finally pulled it out and plugged it in, the charging light just stayed on forever. Without the power cord, it dies instantly. I still use it, but it’s basically tethered to the wall. Even when the light shows it's "full," it won't last a single second without being plugged in.

My advice? Just toss the battery. Or better yet, take it back to the shop where you bought the laptop and have them swap it out—they should handle the disposal, though let's be real, those things usually end up in some random landfill. Just buy a new one, and make sure you get the official part number. Sure, third-party replacements are cheaper and sometimes claim to have more capacity, but there's a catch: the laptop's internal electronics often refuse to recognize them, making everything super clunky and glitchy, even if it technically works.

It reminds me of how we used to handle things with our UPS suppliers. Since most of those units run on lead-acid batteries, the rule was you had to top them off every six months at most. Man, what a massive headache that was! Especially considering lead-acid batteries can actually vent explosive gases, and the supplier always had to keep a ton of spare parts sitting in the warehouse just in case.
