Nicole Morales4 said:Wait, so you're saying their sweets aren't good? Maybe I'll swing by there in a few days to check it out myself, and if they aren't great, I'll look somewhere else.
Look, they’re good. It’s just that over at Mrs. Baker's, they had that specific homemade taste that I haven't really found anywhere else. I was at a wedding recently where I could have easily ordered from Ann Taylor or even Whole Foods, but I ended up choosing Mrs. Baker's instead...
I was originally planning on getting my cakes and dessert spread from Small House Cake. I actually went there with my godmother for a tasting session. Don't get me wrong, the pastries were delicious, but I wasn't thrilled with the service. When I asked if I could just take about five pastries to go, the staff just plopped them onto a paper plate and wrapped them in plastic wrap. When I mentioned I was taking the bus home, they had the nerve to tell me that a proper box would cost extra money...
I ended up letting it slide because, honestly, the sweets were good. But then I get home, and my mother—bless her heart—sees how I'm carrying everything and says, "Let's try somewhere else." She drove me over to Kasin to check out those Mi-Mi Sweets. We got half a pound to try at home, plus we did some more tasting right there. And they came in actual BOXES. It was such a relief. In the end, we decided to go with them. It wasn't just about the packaging, though; the pastries were significantly better and had that much more authentic, homemade flavor. To be honest, everyone who attended our party later asked for the contact info for the bakery... And since the venue required all food to be covered, the people from Mi-Mi Sweets served everything in these nice clear boxes, and they didn't charge us a cent for the containers.
I’ve sampled treats from Absum, M. K. k, Tom, Anna, Cukeraj, and pretty much everywhere else you can think of...
Bottom line: if anyone picks them, you won't regret it. 100%.
I remember we did the exact same thing, getting everything squared away six months out... you really need to handle those details early if you want any peace of mind. Back then, we had about two and a half pounds of dessert on every single table. We actually kept two 1.3-pound boxes per table because the setups were massive for just ten people; we didn't want everyone stretching across the tablecloth just to grab a bite. It turned out perfectly. In fact, when people were heading out, we were handing out half a pound of leftovers to everyone—some folks even walked away with a full pound or two. But hey, to each their own.
I mean, they run the whole production setup right out of their house. Whenever you drop by for a meeting, they always offer to give you a quick peek at the workspace. It’s not like they’re inviting you in to play games or anything, obviously. They just really care about showing people how organized everything is. For me, that's actually a huge deal. I’m definitely not eating cookies—or anything else for that matter—made by people who can't keep a clean kitchen.
I just wanted to drop a quick note about the dessert spread at my wedding. I picked up a bunch of homemade treats from a local bakery called Sweet Treats, and honestly? Every single pastry tasted exactly how it was supposed to. People were actually stopping me mid-conversation to ask where I got them. Ever since the wedding, it seems like everyone I know has started ordering from them for everything—weddings, baptisms, you name it. You really have to respect the way they run things; the place is spotless. Seriously, walking in there feels more like stepping into a high-end pharmacy than a bakery—not a speck of flour out of place. They’ve got their own website and a Facebook page too if you want to check them out. Highly recommended.
Hey everyone! My sister is scheduled for nose surgery with Marko Grgić in just a few days, so I wanted to check in and see if anyone here has firsthand experience with him. Are you happy with the results? She’s dealing with a noticeable bump and some structural issues that make it tilt slightly to one side, so she’s primarily looking at this from an aesthetic standpoint. Thanks!
I’m honestly at a bit of a crossroads here... we're supposed to get a cake provided by the restaurant, but I have this nagging urge to just order something custom from a local boutique bakery instead. Now I'm stuck on the details. Should I go with fondant? I have this irrational fear that if they don't roll it out perfectly, the whole thing is going to look like a disaster. Plus, I know some people just peel that stuff off and leave it on the plate, so you end up basically paying for nothing but decoration. It's such a weird dilemma—that sugary mass looks incredible for photos, but then again...🙄

Hopefully my experience will be just as smooth... though my family gave me a hard time when I got home. They saw she’d just handed me the treats on a plain tray and wrapped the whole thing in plastic wrap instead of using one of those clear heart-shaped containers or even a standard folding box. Honestly, you can't win with the older generation. Then, the lady mentioned that people in my meeting room are now demanding the desserts be served under silver cloches. Like, seriously? Now I have to go out and buy those too? It’s not like the food is going to spoil if it's sitting out for a bit.
My friend and I are heading over to a little local bakery this Friday to sample some cookies... they used to be $25/lb, but apparently they’ve bumped up to $27 now. I think I'll just put down a deposit right away to lock it in. Still haven't decided on a cake, though. She might actually get one for free from the restaurant, so we're still playing it by ear.
I called up that little local bakery and told them I’ve got a wedding coming up in September, and they had the nerve to tell me the earliest I could get in is June... which is way too late for my schedule. Honestly, I’m just going to wait until after Easter to hit them up so they can actually get everything documented properly.
So, my cousin threw this massive bash with about 150 people on the guest list, and they ended up hauling in 90 pounds of dessert. They left 20 pounds sitting right out front and took 60 pounds straight to the banquet hall... though, honestly, they just served it out however they felt like at the time. I’m looking at a crowd of maybe 110 people for my thing, so I’m thinking 65 pounds should be more than enough to cover us.🤷
Sean Long4 said:Fear, my date is September 11th... and everyone keeps telling me it’s best to show up around the third or fourth month... just make sure to book an appointment ahead of time. Apparently, every bakery has a specific capacity they aren't supposed to exceed... I mean, they technically could, but they won't
Hey ladies! My wedding is coming up in about eight months—September 10th. When should I actually be sitting down with bakers to finalize the cake and dessert situation?
casualbison14 said:Ladies, here's my take—I already mentioned this before, but I definitely went with the Small House for the wedding cakes and dessert spread. $27per pound Not gonna hype it up too much—you really just gotta try it for yourself. Every dessert has its own vibe, which is how it should be, and they aren't loaded with cheap margarine like most stuff. Just give 'em a shot...🙂 I heard about them on here too—some girl I know already used them for her wedding.
I checked out their website and they seriously have every kind of cake imaginable... I think I'll just grab a few treats to try them out.
Ugh, Mitch😢, I was actually planning on picking up some pastries and a cake from them... though I wouldn't drop more than $27 on the cookies. As for the cake, I just want it to actually taste good and look exactly like the photo I showed them. And honestly, with the pastries, every single kind should have its own distinct flavor. I'm so over places where everything tastes identical—like you're eating the same thing five times in a row. Just gross. So, where else can I go to find the good stuff?🤷
