Sanctions have already been handed out, and trust me, things will get much heavier next time. We’ve got plenty on our plates without people spamming us with reports; we saw the post immediately, the thread was opened right away, and both the moderator and the supermod weighed in... even though we aren't under any obligation to explain ourselves to everyone who thinks a post deserves a ban when it clearly doesn't, though in this instance, we did provide an answer.

Maybe try actually reading for comprehension once in a while. And honestly, stay out of other people's business when they're venting...
Where is it okay to share scientific facts about domestic abuse? in Feedback & Suggestions ·

Well, thanks so much for demonstrating your debating style... 🙂 That's exactly how you approach domestic abuse... 🙂 And that’s why all the topics are locked (by the way, that happened before I even became a moderator)

And yeah, lonebadger6 here is tirelessly deleting my posts, even in the thread titled "Slapping a wife is slapping society".

Even there? 😲 🤣 Send me a link, since I've never actually heard of that thread... 🙏

I'll happily take a look at who's been deleting your stuff, since apparently there isn't a moderator yet who hasn't wiped your misogynistic posts and handed you bans for them...

Since I don't recall that thread from Politics at all, I guess you've basically granted me super-moderator powers to go deleting things in other subreddits. Thanks for that... 👍

If I'm following correctly, it doesn't matter if men get slapped more often than women, as long as we don't mix up slaps with actual murders...

Check the response under the first quote... 🙂

And that, kids, is why silentridge3 is not allowed to write about domestic abuse on Reddit Politics.

By the way, this is the 973rd thread on PŽK about this. I assume the super-mods or Nice himself will personally notify you the moment they decide to change their stance on your "problematizing" male violence on Reddit Politics. You really don't need to ask every five minutes...

Honestly, every single discussion eventually devolves into this kind of circular nonsense. Obviously, any form of abuse is ugly and destructive, whether it’s physical or psychological...

But presenting nothing but cold statistics while ignoring the reality behind them—the difference between "a wife hitting her drunk husband" and "a man brutally beating his wife until she ends up in the ER ten times over"—is a stretch. To act like the issues men and women face regarding domestic abuse are some perfectly symmetrical problem is just a completely different conversation entirely...

Oh, sure, no worries, here's what the study says: we're all in the same boat, the danger is identical, the abusers are all the same. Let's just conveniently overlook the tiny detail that for every 30 men killed, there are 300 women, and as that exact study points out: rates of injury are much higher among female victims than male victims, and those injuries are more likely to be life-threatening and require a visit to an emergency room or hospital

It's all the same, right? Sure, Peter killed Anna, and Isaac brutally beat Georgia, but then again, Mirta spat on Hrvoj, and Zdenka pinched Marko. It's a perfect 2:2 split. Right...

You aren't going anywhere like this. Or rather, not on topics that have nothing to do with it, and especially not using your method of twisting things and pushing half-truths in your war against women. It’s not just about you, obviously. Anyway, I didn't ban you; it was the entire Politics moderation team that decided to close those threads and prevent any more of these misogynistic spikes from happening.

It’s just that, for instance, instead of carefully looking at stuff like this (from "your" link):

rates of injury are much higher among female victims than male victims, and those injuries are more likely to be life-threatening and require a visit to an emergency room or hospital

...you'll just ignore it and push the narrative that domestic abuse is perfectly equal or even that men suffer more.

This is just one example, and we've been through this thousands upon thousands of times already.

And let's not even get into the most extreme form of abuse/crime:

More women than men are killed in the context of ‘domestic homicide’, 315 women in 3 years compared to 117 men. Women were 73% of all victims of domestic violence homicide, men were 27% of all victims of domestic violence homicide. Women killed in the context of ‘domestic homicide’ are more likely than men to be killed by members of the opposite sex: Of the 315 female victims of ‘domestic homicide’, 304 (97%) were killed by men. Of the 117 male victims of ‘domestic homicide’, 37 (32%) were killed by women

https://kareningalasmith.com/2016/09...-2015-3-years/

All of this without even diving into the fact that women often (though certainly not always) kill their abusers, whereas the reverse is extremely rare, but there’s no point starting a debate about that with someone who thinks they're on a "holy mission."

But, like I said, we’ve told you all this before. Along with a few other usual suspects. Distorting facts, cherry-picking info, leaving out data that doesn't fit your agenda, and so on...

If you ever feel the urge to actually present real, complete data instead of just the bits that suit you, then it might be a different story altogether...
Mods - question regarding banning in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Maybe it would stay, maybe it wouldn't, but honestly, it’d probably just get nuked anyway since we only allow that kind of "conspiracy theory" nonsense over on the Edge of Science subreddit...
Stop playing dumb because that’s still a violation of the general forum rule (maybe take a second to actually read them)... Everyone on this thread knows exactly what we're talking about—mass terrorist attacks against civilians—so you can take your trolling somewhere else...

It’s just as pathetic as that childish hysterics you’ve been throwing for years over perfectly valid bans you received for your posts, which, by the way, have been upheld by multiple moderators every single time...

Like they say back in the day—get a life...
By the way, the rest of this content is pure nonsense, likely stemming from either:

a) your childish obsession

b) an inability to grasp the actual topic at hand

A vague glance at the subject matter and the view count since I posted suggests everyone else caught my drift, so I’ll just assume you did too... which means you might want to find someone else to explain that part to if you're still lost.

I’m sticking to my guns that it all boils down to point a), which leads to those equally immature and baseless claims, but that's a mess you'll have to sort out on your own 🙂
New rules for warnings and bans in Feedback & Suggestions ·
bluecyclist64 said:Even Dr. Helingen - Zagor tried running some tests, and let's just say he wasn't exactly thrilled with the results...

Good luck with all the experimenting, I guess, though it might be a better idea to actually establish some concrete rules instead of letting the mods extend bans whenever they feel like being unpredictable...

By the way, how long do these bans actually last? And why does every single one seem to drag on longer than the last one...

Well, like rustydrifter10 mentioned, nothing is set in stone yet, but from where I'm sitting, it seems like almost all the bans are actually shorter than they used to be. They've just extended the penalties for insulting other users, while everything else stayed the same or even got lighter.

As for those custom bans, they’re mostly aimed at the habitual offenders—people who just can't stop breaking specific rules. Take something as basic as using all caps, which is 10 points. You probably won't even get a formal strike for the first time; you'll just get a warning. If you keep doing it, then the strikes start coming.
But that doesn't mean you have a free pass to spam a hundred posts in all caps until you hit 1000 points. If you're persistently breaking the rule, you'll rack up more points and face a much longer ban long before that happens...

The same logic applies when we try to be lenient with people, because "custom" doesn't always mean making the punishment harsher. For instance, I often hand out a strike for trolling—which is now 25 points—instead of a strike for mild insults, which usually sits at 45.

In the grand scheme of things, this should actually benefit most users, since hitting a full ban becomes harder. The most common offense, trolling, now carries fewer points and lasts for a shorter period. Plus, for the 100 and 200 point thresholds, the bans are actually shorter than they were before...

You just got flagged for picking fights with the mods, so that’s where this little conversation ends... The rules apply to everyone here equally, and yeah, that includes you too.
Can you block individual users? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
You can toss just about anyone on here onto your ignore list if they're getting on your nerves.

If someone is actually stalking you through the threads just to mock you, you should probably report it since that kind of harassment isn't allowed... there's a little red triangle icon at the bottom left of every post that you can click to file a report, and then the mods will step in to see if someone is genuinely harassing you and take action against them if they are.

And they still have to let three more poor souls take their shots even though the second guy missed and the winner is already a foregone conclusion... 😁

Go ahead, throw out some suggestions.

Aside from the general thread, I’ll probably set up a specific one for the national team, maybe include the EuroLeague, potentially the Golden State Warriors as their own thing, and I might even open a thread for the Premier League though I'm not holding my breath for much interest there...
I was actually thinking the exact same thing as stormytiger4. If we were going to have its own subforum—which might actually be pretty interesting—it belongs under Alternative, just like how Alternative Medicine was moved away from Health...

Sure, they’ll blast some hype music when someone scores, and maybe throw in a quick center play while the beat drops, but yesterday we spent half our offensive drives listening to stadium anthems and then just sat there through an entire sequence while they played some old-school folk tune... 😁

Playing music during live gameplay is honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever seen... It’s distracting for the players, annoying for the fans, and just plain irritating for everyone else involved. I’m actually surprised there isn't some official rule in the EHF or IHF regulations specifically banning it.
Thread closed on Close to Politics in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Hey,
The thread is closed because this whole thing just doesn't make sense here in America. You're coming from a completely different linguistic background with a language I don't even personally know, so I'm totally fine with you using specific terms if they carry a certain nuance or if people are inventing new words...

In American English, we have gendered nouns where things change based on who is doing the action—like how an actor is a man and an actress is a woman. Maybe some linguistics professors would find this interesting enough for a general discussion, but over in the Politics section, this topic just smells like misogyny. I’m not saying that was your intention, but that's really the only way it comes across in a political context. Gendered terms aren't some new phenomenon in our language; they've always been part of the way we speak. Take the acting example—the core concept is ACTING, not "actor." A man who acts is an actor, while a woman who acts is an actress. There isn't any logical reason for us to be debating why a woman shouldn't be called an actress in the Politics subforum.

Just because certain roles might feel clunky due to historical imbalances—like "soldier" vs "nurse"—doesn't mean it's worth a debate... much like how we don't spend all day in the Politics section arguing about regional accents or minor phonetic shifts like "going to my grandma's" versus some other dialectal quirk.

The Istanbul Convention in Feedback & Suggestions ·
There’s really no point in getting bogged down in endless debates or nitpicking specific examples—whether they hold water or not—because the core issue remains exactly this:

which doesn't mean men aren't being treated unfairly, but you had a thousand opportunities to keep this narrative grounded in reality, yet you failed to take even one...

Cheers.
