You might want to move the discussion about that movie over to the Film subforum.

Regarding those theories about society—specifically the idea that men (white, Christian, etc.) are being persecuted or stripped of their rights—well, even if there are genuine injustices against men, you guys had a thousand chances to keep the conversation grounded in reality, but you never once took the opportunity... On Politics, we basically lump those ideas in with anti-vax conspiracies and chemtrails. So, if the mods are feeling generous, you could try posting about it on Alternative or Fringe Science instead. I don't see why they wouldn't agree, though I can't exactly speak for them.

And I don't mean that to be provocative; those are just standard, full-fledged subforums here on the site. It's much like how anti-vaxxers think we're all just sheep who don't understand anything.
Looking for a ban in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Paul Kern12 said:Whether certain posts were considered "trolling" or not is entirely irrelevant here; issuing subsequent bans is typically just an act of retaliation by someone in a position of power. Anderson Cooper is capable of making good posts and can occasionally admit when he's wrong, but in this instance, his reaction was essentially "well, I'm going to penalize you regardless," which does him no favors. In short, it was a shameful way to handle moderation.👎

JW knows exactly what's going on, he’s just playing along and trolling, but I'll give you an answer since you know how to be civil when you want to, which should hopefully put an end to this whole saga...

Look, the user absolutely deserved that first warning, and my mistake was purely technical. I applied it to the most recent controversial post as a collective warning, which isn't really how we do things anymore. So, the error wasn't that he didn't deserve the warnings—he definitely did—it was just that I issued them as a group penalty instead of individually...

Taking back a warning just to issue a new one isn't some huge scandal or even the first time it's happened. We sometimes realize a warning was too harsh and pull it to issue a lighter one, or we accidentally leave the default "offtopic" tag on and have to fix it with a heavier one later... nothing groundbreaking there...

No matter how much someone tries to play dumb, this was a textbook case. I made a technical slip-up, so the warning was pulled, only to be reapplied to the posts that actually warranted it. Why they deserve it isn't even up for debate, because it's pretty obvious... the guy was punished for The same thing a month ago, and a moderator's technical error doesn't change the fact that he ignored previous warnings and the Supermoderator's confirmation just to post the exact same thing again... several times, actually...

P.S. Regarding the ban appeal, the whole discussion dragged on for three days, and since some of his other warnings expired in the meantime, he got hit with a new ban. We eventually agreed to pull it because he’d essentially already served his time, but he needs to understand that he earned those warnings... that's why they were issued in the first place...
Suggestions for football and the US National Team in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m not a mod over on the Football boards, but looking at this from an outsider's perspective—with a bit of a moderator's mindset—your idea isn't necessarily bad, you just picked the wrong example to prove it... See, following a game or something similar, like watching American Idol, usually turns into a chat thread, and those threads are pretty much unregulated by default...
While the game is actually happening, or whatever show is on, the thread basically becomes a giant group chat where it's nearly impossible to enforce strict rules about what people can or can't say.

Everything else is up to the guys running the Football section, but in threads like these, you really can't stop someone from posting, whether they're rooting for Mexico to lose or crying tears of joy thinking about that 91st-minute goal when Lionel Messi scores... Or if they just want to talk about the play itself.

The issue is that the conversation never actually went where it was supposed to... despite a few moderator warnings and bans, it just kept getting dragged away by people obsessing over this supposed global misandry, so when the thread finally got locked, it was basically just a bunch of noise about that or other random tangents... We'll likely reopen it soon, we just need to iron out a few more details first.
Hidden threads? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m seeing it right where it should be, based on when the last post went up...
I even checked the subforum while logged out just to make sure I wasn't seeing it through some moderator lens...
Selective enrollment in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nah, any posts that were completely off-topic have been nuked, but we kept the ones related to the subject matter even if they mention the old USA, because they're relevant to how ridiculous this whole Trumpian nonsense is...

Posts claiming "the USA was beautiful and the best" or "the USA was a disaster and nothing worked" have all been wiped.
California Discussion Thread - All in one place in European Union ·
The topic is Catalonia. Thanks.
Why was my post deleted? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
First off, the supermods have made it pretty clear multiple times that moderators aren't obligated to jump through hoops just to explain why a specific post was nuked. It’s a standard tool for us, and especially in the Politics section, we aren't about to waste our breath justifying every single deletion...

But sure, let's go ahead and dive into it.

The bottom line is that the post was removed because we don't permit anyone—whether they say it straight or try to be clever about it—to equate the fascist regime with the one that ran the USA. That’s also why you picked up a warning.

There's your answer, and just a friendly reminder that this isn't a casual chat room. Take care.
How reliable are your sources? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
To be honest, I can't really open those ones you're asking about because I don't follow one of them at all, and I haven't run into any links from that other site on the subreddits I moderate... and as for the second one, I've never even heard of it. If you think linking to stuff from those sites is just nonsense, well, that's usually pretty easy to prove, much like how easy it was to figure out that everything on those other boards you mentioned was total garbage...
Double Standards in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Joseph Stewart38 said:So, during this debate about Zeljko Markic, someone actually wrote—and I quote—that he’s "probably sexually compatible with Hell." If I ever dared to post something like that, he, his clone, or their buddy lonebadger6 would slap me with a ban before I could even finish the sentence...

I wouldn't dare.

If I were to go onto a thread about, say, Vesna Pusić, and claim she was pure evil or likely sexually compatible with ____(whoever), we all know exactly how the moderators would react.

Hard to say...

Fine then, from now on, following the standard you've set for this level of discourse, I'll just stick to mentioning who the subjects of these threads are apparently sexually compatible with. For instance, on a thread about Vesna Pusić, I might suggest she's probably sexually compatible with her own brother.

And you'll get 500 points for it, though I won't bother explaining why; if you can't grasp the distinction, or are simply pretending you can't, then there's really nothing the moderation team can do to help you...

Besides, you don't actually need to understand everything. The forum has its rules, and as long as you follow them, that's what matters—so, if you say Vesna Pusić is sexually compatible with Hell, you won't get banned by me, but if you say she's compatible with her brother, you'll earn 500 points. You don't have to figure out the logic behind it, nor am I obligated to walk you through it. You asked, so there you go, now you know how the game is played...
Politics > World > Trump Discussion @ KCCLK Forum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Bradley Ramos7 said:Come on, lonebadger6, just unlock that Trump thread already... it’s easily one of the most active and high-quality discussions we have on this Forum, especially since nobody posting there actually supports racism or Hitler.

Don't let us think you're intimidated by the anti-Trump crowd installed by the Democratic Administration over at Buzina... if they give you any trouble, just tell them about us and we'll have your back, while you tell them they're basically nothing more than KKK-ovacs in disguise.

Oh sure, because I'm definitely going to need you guys to protect me from them *and* from Soros too...

Yeah, I mean, she walked away with a decent result, but the real issue is that out of nine throws in New York City, only one actually looked right... and while you could argue that for Sandra too, a javelin is technically a much easier implement to handle than a discus, but still, three or four of those were just straight-up disasters.

It was probably just way too much pressure, for no real reason at all... She’s got plenty of time to iron things out, though, especially with so many major championships still on the horizon 🙂
2017 World Athletics Championships (London) in Other Sports ·
You can't really blame her, honestly; she’s ranked fourth in the world despite coming from a place where the track and field infrastructure is basically on par with Burkina Faso.

But we need to figure out what's actually going on with her, and if you ask me, it feels more like a mental hurdle... it's one thing to show up as some young underdog with nothing to lose, but it's an entirely different beast when you're just as young but carrying the weight of a nation's massive expectations on your shoulders...

I think Sarah’s struggling because the pressure from the Olympics really got to her... she was just too young when she shot straight into the world rankings, and today was honestly a disaster. Only one good throw out of nine if you count the qualifiers, so she clearly needs some mental coaching to handle the heat, even if she tries to act like nothing bothers her.

It’s just the typical American mentality, too—those two clowns, especially Balog, forcing this girl to be a champion when she wasn't even on the map last year. They only started pushing her once they realized how hard it actually is to grab a medal...

There are plenty more meets coming up, and she already competed at the U23 European Championships earlier this year.

Honestly, listening to Balog and his pathetic, endless rambling just makes me want to root against our athletes... I actually just muted the TV so I can finally cheer for Sara in peace -.-

It’s sliding toward fourth place, and honestly, looking at how things stand today, I’m not exactly feeling optimistic...
