Dennis Allen said:Like I said, I don't usually jump into politics and debate, so I wasn't aware there were certain topics where you aren't allowed to offer a counterargument or play devil's advocate...
That’s why I was asking for clarification... :)
Of course you can.
Just within reasonable limits, if you don't take that as an insult...
If the whole world is watching a psychopath use a prohibited chokehold—which is only permitted if a cop's life is actually in danger, a rule that most of the country follows while experts are still shaking their heads that it’s even happening in Minneapolis—on a man who isn't resisting, isn't armed, or doing anything of the sort... and then they just stand there and ignore him while he gasps for air and begs for his life, and if this psychopathic abuse and killing continues on, completely illegal since no officer was ever in danger, and if the first "official" Autopsies Released in George Floyd which both subsequent groups dispute even suggests the police conduct contributed to the Death, while independent experts openly call it murder because the victim was strangled...
Then saying people are "protesting because a Black man died from drugs" isn't a "counterargument," it's just ignoring everything I just laid out above...
The Ban lasts just one day (expiring sometime after midnight), and you didn't get a notification because it was a custom Ban from the mod panel... basically because your last card should have been smaller, and if it hadn't been, those 100 points would have bumped your suspension to two days instead of one. That's also why a few of your posts were wiped without any cards, even though you probably could have earned them...
As for the reason, you've really crossed a line with how you interpret the links you drop, especially that last one (which got deleted, but the admins see everything)...
Please, just don't do this anymore. Neither the first autopsy nor the later ones come anywhere close to the conclusions you "present," and that final one was truly beyond the pale—rude, manipulative, and your attempt to justify the police officers' disgusting behavior is just unbelievable...
It's written clearly enough right here in the link you provided yourself:
Quote:
autopsy determined that “sustained pressure on the right side of Floyd’s carotid artery impeded blood flow to the brain, and weight on his back impeded his ability to breathe.
>
What we found is consistent with what people saw. There is no other health issue that could cause of contribute to the death. Police have this false impression that if you can talk, you can breathe. That’s not true
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office says that the manner of death is homicide, and listed as the cause of death cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint and neck compression.
But then you jump in with:
Cities are burning and the country is collapsing because of a mob that has a false subjective impression of a Black man's murder, when he most likely died due to drug consumption.
Yeah.
Seriously, please stop...
(And I'm not going to argue or respond, this was just an explanation, and I'm genuinely asking you to stop waging a crusade against the entire universe and everyone who actually has eyes and watched the video)
You’ve padded the text and conveniently left out the part where the autopsy highlights how the police intervention actually caused the death.
It’s a bit much, manipulating such heavy and ugly subject matter...
By the way, if you want a message deleted, just hit me up via DM; we always respond to polite requests.
Mind you, I see my own mistake here—you didn't fix that first sentence in the second post, and since it was so obvious from the tone of the first one, I suppose half a day is a fair amount of time. I think the strike should stay, but I'll ask the head moderator to shorten your ban...
The autopsy report claims he didn't die from suffocation. Instead, it points to a medical history of coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease, along with drug use, as the actual cause of death.
Actual information (from your link):
Floyd's autopsy did not "support a diagnosis of traumatic strangulation or asphyxiation," but noted that his underlying health conditions, the combined effects of restraint by police and any potential intoxicants in his system all "likely contributed to his death.
And despite all the video footage, the outrage from pretty much everyone in America, and the murder charges being brought forward, your take on what happened is...
That the police pinned him to the ground because they were worried his drugs would trigger excited delirium.
There really isn't even anything to talk about here...
It’s pretty much a given that you’re just a clone of someone who already got the boot—which is enough to get you banned on its own—but honestly, that’s not even the main issue here, considering you’ve managed to rack up this list in just seven and a half posts since signing up:
1. You tried to downplay the victims at Auschwitz...
2. You labeled an entire nation as genocidal...
3. You started throwing around labels like Chetnik or Communist at other users—including a supermod, though I can't be bothered to waste the energy deciding which specific insult fits best...
4. You started a thread based entirely on lies...
5. You dove into the USA thread like a total troll...
6. And then there's the whole business of commenting on the moderation...
You didn't get banned because of that link to the autopsy report, it was actually because of this:
1. You were playing games with the facts and twisting the interpretation... not only to ignore the parts of the report that didn't fit your narrative, but to downplay or justify the kind of sick police brutality that rightfully leads to murder charges.
Actually, you weren't even given a ban at first—even though you deserved one much harsher than what you eventually got—your post was just deleted, which then led to:
2. Attempting to repost deleted content (violating rules)
3. Commenting on the moderation team (violating rules)
So, we’ve agreed to lift the permanent ban, and there won't be any partial restrictions either, though as always in these kinds of situations, we expect a heightened level of decorum and caution from the forum users (your) side...
Look, things were pretty chaotic back then—I get it—so I’m generally on board with you ditching the perm, though strictly speaking, I can't just call the shots myself even if I was technically the one who gave it to you... I'll probably head over to the fashion sub to suggest we strip the perm, but honestly, it really comes down to what we decide together.
100 points is basically just a one-day ban, though you actually got hit because you used a burner account to post that nonsense right after getting red-carded...
Look, let's get one thing straight—you didn't lose your permanent status just because you were messing around... If you’re going to file an appeal or a formal request, you'll probably have much better luck if you actually stick to the facts of what really went down...
Whether you try to play it cool, act all civilized, or attempt to "explain" your way out of it—trying to downplay World War II by claiming everyone was basically the same—it’s not a harsh penalty, it’s actually a pretty light warning...
Since I only bother responding to civilized complaints, I’m not going to address the actual card itself, but I am stepping in for purely technical reasons regarding the "duration" of your ban. The thing is, it’s permanent. You aren't getting unbanned...
And you earned the permaban because while you were out, you were posting through a clone that violated the forum rules and got hit with a 7-day ban.
restlesssailor42 said:When people say you can't leave the house—does that mean you're stuck inside entirely, or can you still hang out in the backyard where you aren't bumping into anyone?
I've got plenty of acreage out here—garden, woods, orchard... I'm not bothering a soul, and honestly, being out on my property beats sitting cooped up indoors any day
Just a quick heads-up, I’m not actually in isolation or anything, just asking... don't want any trouble
That’s a fair question. I’d assume you could wander around a fenced-in yard—the whole point of these measures is avoiding contact with others. It probably comes down to common sense... there's a big difference between sitting in a massive yard fifty feet away from the street and standing right at the gate chatting with everyone passing by. 😁
Just keep breathing and living off the land, you'll make it through... Don't sweat the small stuff. Everything is perfectly clear, just as clear as the fact that you won't be coming back here to vent once this whole hysteria dies down.
As for those "fellow moderators" and the "far more expert forum users," I've got just one thing to say:
Not to repeat what my esteemed colleague velvetmoose9 said, though I find myself in total agreement with their initial critique:
I have to agree—the moderator of the Politics section really deserves a stern talking-to for comparing the current Corona virus to the flu. In terms of several key metrics, Corona is basically a joke compared to the flu... if I were allowed to say how I actually feel about it without getting myself penalized.
Still, much like any other relatively new virus, we should probably show it some respect.
It’s been proven that Corona can be fatal, mostly for the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, people who are malnourished, or just completely exhausted (for instance, medical staff in a certain province in China were subjected to days of grueling work—they barely ate or slept at all). And it certainly has a massive potential to spread.
Furthermore, Corona is absolutely lethal to small warm-blooded, furry little creatures—like the rabbits used in pension funds, which is what worries me most, especially after that whole AgroCore robbery, as well as stocks in various companies, not just here but globally—you’ll soon be able to compare the data, comment, and see who lost out and who turned a profit.
For a very illustrative and educational look at the actual reality of Corona, you might want to search the depths of the internet for the March 1, 2020, episode of Nu2 with Aleksandar Stanković, featuring guest Professor Igor Rudan. It calls for caution, but without the panic or the hysteria. It dismantles and demystifies the myths and fears. It’s presented in an incredibly accessible way, even for laypeople (truly an impressive presentation, much like a night at Dodger Stadium)
As things stand, the talk surrounding Corona remains more of a political issue than a health one, and personally, I think it’s quite an economic topic too.
Everyone seems fascinated by tracking the number of registered infections, cases, and recoveries, but the number most people are actually interested in is the death toll.
To keep yourselves from getting bored, maybe keep an eye on stock price fluctuations for certain companies—who’s buying, who’s selling, who’s crashing, and who’s profiting, right around when macroeconomists were predicting the start of a new recession and such.
I’ll admit, I’m currently feeling a tiny bit—maybe not even a tiny bit—fearful of the flu and those few viruses that push a fever above 100.4°F.
As for Corona... not in the slightest, as long as I have food to eat, water to drink, get at least six hours of sleep, and have access to Advil, Aspirin, and some nasal spray at the pharmacy, along with a nice bit of local moonshine and some propolis...
But what I fear most is the LJG virus—human stupidity.
Ultimately—this is the Politics section for messages, complaints, and comments. You’ve complained. You’ve commented. Message received; we will reprimand the wicked moderator, as I mentioned earlier. The Politics moderators will open a dedicated thread about Corona once they decide the conditions are right.
You won't be lamenting about Corona or anything else here.
crook
Adding this: there have been more than enough warnings. If you want to go hysterical, head over to Index. The internet is a big place.
You could also try posting over on Alternative; they occasionally welcome strange things over there.
Consider this my final warning: from now on, it’s a one-day ban for anyone inciting panic. There will be no further explanations.
If you ask me, calling it trolling is a bit much, especially when you claim it’s a paid ad—which can happen, sure, though targeted sponsored content doesn't always mandate specific talking points—and then turn around and blast journalists for failing to mention how ugly the Grand Central Terminal is in some tourism piece... Every city has its eyesores and rough patches, and you're never going to find them highlighted in travel brochures.
The vibe in this thread makes it feel like some people are just desperate to trash anything and everything related to Cleveland as if they were at Coachella 2020, and while criticism is fine, it seems like certain folks just want to burn the whole thing down, which is probably why the red card was handed out in this general atmosphere...
Strictly speaking, I think the red card was totally justified, but maybe it wouldn't have happened in a different thread, so if it really bothers you to have it on the record, I personally don't mind if Charles Fox10 just removes it.
Canada is an internationally recognized nation, and since the US recognizes its sovereignty too, we aren't going to sit here online and try to carve up its territory... It would be just as pointless to start a debate about whether Little Rock belongs to Mexico or if Savannah should be part of something else...
You already got your answer, and since this isn't the general chat subforum, I'll just leave you with one final thought on the matter:
Donna Doyle2 said:I didn't grab a screenshot of the deleted post before it vanished, but you've definitely twisted my words... I can't tell if you're misinterpreting things on purpose now or if you were just confused from the start.
Every single moderator, supermod, and admin on this board can see everything that gets deleted so these little attempts at spinning the narrative are pretty much pointless and a waste of breath...
Donna Doyle2 said:So, I’ve seen people complaining about the lonebadger6 moderator here a million times already, and it’s pretty obvious that isn't just a coincidence. Well, count me in, if the sheer volume of complaints actually means something...
I’m curious why my post on the immigration thread got nuked. Everything I wrote can be backed up by data from American government agencies. I’d love to know what exactly was considered trolling in that post...
"Trolling refers to an individual who enters established online communities, such as an internet forum, with the sole purpose of posting inflammatory, rude, or offensive messages to intentionally annoy participants, create discord among members, or disrupt the flow of discussion on the forum."
So, could someone please clarify what part of my writing fell into that category?
EDIT: I should probably mention that I’m more than well-versed in this issue and provided relevant facts...
It’s always the same story—whenever someone gets a bit of leniency and receives a lighter penalty than they actually deserved, they immediately launch into these butt-hurt appeals filled with whining and ad hominem attacks...
So, you, the well-versed expert, next time you decide to claim that 99% of Syrians arriving in our country haven't even finished elementary school (and "don't want to work"), expect to get a perfectly justified hate speech penalty...
Especially when you're replying to a post about the first three people to arrive in town, all of whom have much more education than basic schooling—one is a doctor, one is a skilled professional looking for work, and the third works at IBM. So, 3 out of 3 are educated, and 3 out of 3 are working or looking to work, just like plenty of others in different cities already are...
