Personally, the catering was solid, but hey, everyone’s palate is different. If you aren't some high-maintenance foodie or a total snob, you'll find the food more than decent, maybe even great.

When I had my own party at the fable, I didn't have any other events going on at the same time, so I can't tell you if the music carries over or not. I’m actually heading back there this Saturday for my goddaughter 🙂's party, so I might get a better feel for that. I'll probably have more thoughts on the fable then—might be biased since I'm comparing it to my own big day...😁

Amy Morris70 said:I am curious about the air conditioning situation at the local headquarters and in the surrounding area. Since we will be meeting in July or August when the heat is intense, I want to ensure there is adequate cooling in the hall.

My party was at the Fable during a total heatwave. Honestly, it was pretty cold near the tables—some people were even closing the AC vents because of it. On the dance floor, it just depends on how many people are grinding and jumping around, but it held up fine. If you're dancing in mid-summer with 60 people, obviously it's gonna get warm.

Bottom line: their AC is more than decent. No smoking inside, obviously, but they have a room right next to the dance floor where people can smoke. I was really worried about how much smoke would drift in, but I can tell you it's not bad at all. The hall doesn't get smoky, mostly because people aren't running outside the building to smoke—they just hang out right by the floor.

Does anyone know if there are any banquet halls in the area where the rooms aren't so close together? I attended an event near San Diego recently, and the music from the next room was blasting right while we were trying to eat. It was honestly awful.
Thank you.

Chairs there are about $45. As for the covers, they might have cream or white, but don't expect anything fancy or colorful.

wanderingbadger17 said:We actually considered Vivien too because the outdoor vibe is incredible. I think it’s big enough for 100 people, but what happens if it rains? The indoor space can't even fit 90 people... at least that's my take. You should probably go check it out yourself to be sure, but those were the reasons we passed on Vivien.😉
The price at Vivien is $35 per person for a standard menu,
$50 if you include drinks,
you can have music until 3 AM,
kids under 6 get half off, but everyone else pays full price,
and the couple gets a free suite.
As for San Antonio, in my opinion, you can squeeze maybe 100 people inside, no more, even if they tell you otherwise. Their standard menu is also $50, and you could host the cocktail hour by the pool. I was at a wedding there once; it was nice how the buffet was nicely separated from the tables, but honestly, the food wasn't anything special, and neither were the portions. It really just depends on what matters to you.😍 I hope that helps...😍

I’ve never been to a wedding at Neva, so I can't comment. I don't do hearsay; I need to see it for myself before I form an opinion.

Regarding San Antonio, honestly, I was pretty disappointed. The only thing I actually liked was the huge patio for cocktails and for people smoking during the night. Everything else, in my book, wasn't worth the money. I don't care much about catering anyway—wedding food is usually just fuel so I don't pass out from hunger and have enough energy to dance—but here, it was seriously below average. The hall was cramped, too; you’re constantly having to move your chair just so a waiter can squeeze past behind you. The layout is actually good, though—large and separate from the tables, which is a plus... that's just my two cents.
Anthony Bennett6 said:Man, I really wish I had snapped a photo of the appetizer platters at the start.....

The spread: 14 slices of prosciutto
8 slices of cheese
8 olives
And the French dressing was so sour it was basically inedible....

And that was just two platters for 10 people!

The food was coming out in tiny drips..... and after midnight, we were waiting 20 minutes just for drinks....

We even waited nearly an hour just to get coffee....

As for the host, he was something else—he greeted guests in a polo shirt instead of a suit, holding a cigar in his hand.....

The only bright spot? The AC was great.......

All in all, the party was a total circus......

🤷 That's weird... they actually brought us coffee before midnight because some of the older folks had long drives home and needed to head out early. 🤷
Anthony Bennett6 said:Word on the street from Fable...

There isn't a single thing happening at the wedding center...

Look, I gotta jump in here and weigh in on Fable. I know it might sound like I’m on their payroll or some paid spokesperson, but I’m really not.
Basically, I had my big day there about two and a half months ago. When I was scouting venues, I heard a little something about every single place, including Fable. Honestly, there wasn't one venue that didn't have someone talking trash about it. But then I realized everyone has different standards, so I pulled the trigger on Fable anyway.

From start to finish, they did exactly what we agreed on. Every single dollar we handed them was worth it. Nobody went hungry—you could complain a hundred times if you wanted, but the food was delicious and served hot (and yeah, I heard rumors that people say their food is always cold 😂). They were incredibly flexible with our nonsense, too. They even managed to whip up a Bitter dish they didn't even have on the menu, and they prepped vegetarian meals within five minutes, even though we hadn't mentioned it beforehand... just one thing after another.

I didn't care at all how the manager looked when he greeted us. That stuff was irrelevant compared to everything else. At the end of the day, as long as he gets the job done right, I don't care if he shows up buck naked.

So, ladies, my advice is this: DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR. If you have realistic expectations, Fable will deliver.🙂

wanderingbadger17 said:Well, we only heard about the breeder through some online forum... and honestly, waiting at least three months isn't ideal given the price he's asking...👎

I suppose his photos lean more toward an artistic vibe... darker tones and all that...

But if you check out Lisjak's page... those look much more natural... compared to what the two of us were just looking at...

I just picked mine up from a local studio in San Diego. We went through their portfolio, they're solid, and the staff is great.

A three-month wait is a disaster. Clearly, the guy is overbooking himself, which is why everyone's stuck waiting. You're right about Smithson, though—his shots are too moody and gloomy... way too many black-and-white shots. I want color, vibrancy, people having fun...

wanderingbadger17 said:What’s the deal with photographers like Ivica Lisjak, Ivica Matić, or Studio IN? Those are the three names on my radar right now... Any thoughts on their pricing or general vibe?

I've heard rumors about Matić being arrogant and difficult to work with, and apparently, you have to wait three months just to see the shots? Is there any truth to that?

Regarding Matic, I didn't find him arrogant or rude. He cracks a lot of jokes, so maybe some people take his sense of humor the wrong way. It really depends on your vibe.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of his style. The editing feels overdone and looks fake. I prefer something more natural and grounded...

As for Lisjak, I haven't used him.

I can't make sense of this one. It’s just empty space. Total nothingness. If you're trying to say something, you missed the mark entirely. Give me something real to work with next time. kaže:
The music selection is mediocre at best, but the actual performance? Absolutely lackluster. There are plenty of much better bands playing around San Francisco, which explains why their prices are such a joke.👎
The price is fair. Look, Journey has a name. They have a reputation. That’s why they can charge a premium. Kocka is a relatively new band—so what? If they slapped a $2,000 ticket price on their show, would that suddenly make them good? Please. Money doesn't buy talent. 🙄

Sure, maybe there are better bands out there. Maybe. But you can’t argue with taste. It’s subjective. At the end of the day, it just is what it is. And honestly? This whole obsession with linking price directly to quality is even worse. It's a tired, flawed logic. 🙄

Quincy:
I don't know what to tell you. People keep bringing up MIMIAS like it’s some kind of revolutionary breakthrough. It isn't. It’s just more noise in an already deafening world. We chase these shiny new concepts thinking they’ll fix everything, but they never do. They just change the shape of the problem. I’ve seen this cycle too many times to be impressed. It’s all just part of the same old machine. kaže:
Got any recommendations? Honestly, gambling didn't exactly blow my mind either.
Here we go again. I’ve pretty much listed every decent band from this part of the country right here. Everyone has their own specific taste, obviously. So, if you're actually looking for a recommendation, do us all a favor and specify what kind of music you actually like. Just say it.

Look, my take on MGM is MY SUBJECTIVE OPINION, MY PERSONAL VIEW, and it doesn't have to be similar to yours. Personally, their music selection flopped for me because they play party music—but instead of playing anything fun, they constantly dig up those old relics that any decent musician knows are outdated!

In my opinion, the performance is crap because their vocal range is limited, and like someone else already pointed out, a five-piece band with a full setup just sounds completely different.

That’s why I don’t think they can charge that much (on top of being new), or at least, I wouldn't pay them the same as a five-piece band with a drummer and everything else.

I don't get why you're taking my opinion of the band so personally! You think they're great, I think they aren't, period... you even said yourself that you can't argue with taste!

Raymond Brooks7 said:Trust me, after Friday, you won't be asking for recommendations anymore...
I’m voting for them. I caught their set at a party recently and the energy was easily a 5 out of 5.
p.s. if you need more contact info, just hit up the VIVU website. They have everything listed right there—duos, trios, all organized in one spot.

The music selection is decent, but the performance is trash. There are way better bands in San Francisco, which explains why their price tag is so low.👎

I actually ended up grabbing some of those square, glossy sheets from the latter...$1.25 It’s a solid piece. You can find them in all sorts of different shapes and varieties out there...

Thanks, you guys actually helped a ton... heading down there this Saturday, hoping to finally get this little headache sorted out!

Casey Foster40 said:Sarah Anderson79, thanks so much. I’ve heard plenty of people raving about Suzy, but extra praise never hurts—especially since her services aren't exactly cheap. Which specific package did you end up booking with her? Also, the band Flash is based out of San Francisco; does anyone here have experience working with them? Or perhaps you could recommend another great band from the San Francisco area? Thanks.

Like I said above, you've got Jessy band!

Quick question, maybe someone already covered this, but: how many pastries should I grab for a wedding with 150 guests if I’m doing an 8-tier dessert display? Also, what’s the ballpark price for something like that these days? Thanks!
Rebecca Vaughn7 said:Hey everyone... I could use some help here. The wedding is (hopefully) set for October 23rd, and we need a band that actually knows how to play—something that hits those classic American rock vibes (think Thompson, Pejakovic, Mate Bulic, and stuff like that not ), but can fit into a smaller venue. Specifically, we're looking at Amigos in Malibu. We were originally eyeing the Pink Panther, but it turns out they won't work; they need way more room for the drums and all their gear. Please, give me some advice, recommendations, or any info you've got... I'm honestly starting to panic 😲

jessy band....they're pretty big too, there are 5 of them. If you're looking for an actual band, it's almost always 5 people, so the drums are included. I was at a wedding at Amigos once where the Orang band from Savannah played, and they had the same setup with drums and it wasn't an issue at all!

Ladies (and guys, if you're lurking), I'm assuming this question has been asked a million times already, but the threads are getting so massive it’s impossible to find anything. I need to know where to get the best deals on automotive tint film (the organdy stuff) for detailing cars and bumpers, plus some plastic wrap for baking. Any leads? Thanks!

What’s the damage on wedding cake prices these days? I’m strictly looking for a classic crunch topping kind of vibe.
