Good grief, Nathan Cox25, you’ve actually turned into a total professor 👍
I might just have to hire you 😍

Don't get mad at me, haha, I didn't do anything wrong!!

My dear arrived and won't let me onto the forum 😢
But since I'll be in NYC this Monday, I was thinking about heading over to try some pastries at Millennium, and maybe check out some spots nearby too 😁

Nathan Cox25 said:The pastries from the local bakery aren't really my thing—I’d much rather grab something at the diner over on Broadway. Their ice cream is way better and the desserts are actually decent. For the cakes, they quoted me $800/$300
for a group of 100, decorations included.

Wait, seriously?! Only that much? At Millennium? Really?? I might have to check them out 🙂
(though I haven't actually asked about cake prices yet, so I can't say for sure, but that doesn't seem too bad)

swiftranger16 said:I tried Absum and Cashner—honestly, it’s just not my thing. Every single cookie tastes exactly the same. You could close your eyes and have no clue which one you're eating 👎.

I know I'll probably end up working at M&M's or Lido if they'll have me, but whatever... I'm out here sampling cookies from house to house 😂

Hehe, I guess I'm kind of heading down that same path too, 😂😂😂

That works out to roughly half a kilo per table, and since there are about 30 to 35 little treats in a kilo, it seems sufficient for a table of 8 to 10 people. Besides, we also have various desserts laid out on the buffet; these small bites are really just meant to be an extra option.

Honestly, I think that’s more than enough. At least, based on what other girls are saying about having pounds of cake left over at the end of the night.

Terry Hayes5 said:I mean, if someone eats maybe 5 or 6 slices... for 60 people you'd probably need about 26 pounds of chocolate cake, though I guess it really just depends on the crowd 🙂

Terry Hayes5 said:well, I guess it all depends on how long this whole adventure lasts

First off, I think timing is everything here.

Because, look, for me, I might have two slices of cake and call it a day. But if I'm stuck somewhere for eight hours and they're serving bite-sized pieces...
maybe I could end up eating ten, haha.😂

I'll get on that and let you guys know how it turns out.
If there's a way to save some cash without sacrificing quality, I don't see why we shouldn't 😉

Hey, that is actually great news!!!
You really gave me something to think about!
I was honestly considering heading down to some of those big-box retailers to ask around. Like, at my local Walmart, they have some really decent pastries, and since there's usually a bakery right there on the premises, I wonder if they might be setting the prices. Since they order in such massive quantities, maybe they can get everything much cheaper.

Steven Watson19 said:That sounds like a solid deal... but where exactly?? Who 😲 did you try?

Yeah, Unknown in Springfield—I've tried them and they're actually pretty good. 🙂 $18per pound for the mix😉

I have this nagging feeling I saw a similar rate for $12per pound somewhere else, though I can't quite remember if it was online or maybe in some flyer 🤷
from a catering company, I think.
I'll dig around for it and get back to you.

They’re already going for about $18/lb or even less; I actually tried some of these at a wedding expo recently, and if I recall correctly, they were from a vendor based out of Columbus.

Donna Chase12 said:William Parker61, I honestly have no clue what the diameter of that cake was, but since it cost about the same as the others, I’m guessing it was a standard size
I can't tell you how many slices we got out of it—half went to my mom and the rest we polished off at home—so I haven't really sat down to count the servings...
She might be thinking of those wide 8-inch ones they sell at the local bakery...
Yeah, that orange one is pretty delicious too😍
As for Monica herself—yeah, she’s a sweetheart, seriously. It makes me happy to see someone who actually kills it at their job while keeping prices reasonable; she definitely deserves more customers🙂
And honestly, I'm sure you guys will be just as stoked as I was
urbanowl10, if that’s your vibe, she won't have any trouble doing hearts for you—I asked for stars because that was my thing—so just go in and try it out

Mmm, haha.

They look pretty great to me. Is that actually the name of the business too? Monica in Ann Arbor, right?

The portion size is basically like a thick slice of cake, and I served them alongside that layered one (the one on top)
Here are some pics

Basically, just be prepared that people might ask for more because they're so good, but if your guest count isn't massive like mine was, having something similar to what I did should be plenty

😍😍😍 This is more what I'm looking for 😉 maybe just with hearts at the top, but they look really nice

William Parker61 said:Hey ladies, I’ve finally finished sorting out the cake! The search ended at Monica’s bakery in Newport. I went ahead and ordered the cupcakes 🙂

So, is this the same place that was making those little pastries for $9.50 $3.25 each? Or am I mistaken?
