www.stefanie.com they have some pretty similar styles over at Vera Wang if you want to take a look, plus there's a boutique right in Indianapolis. Honestly, I'm not totally sure who's stocking Demeter though.

Robert Moore86 said:The bouquet toss usually happens once everyone’s lined up—right in the middle of the bride and groom’s dance. While the single girls are waiting, she just swings it mid-dance and tosses it. Then the newlyweds bolt out of the hall while the single guys wait by the exit to pelt the groom with plastic bottles. At that exact moment, the best man throws a plate that was covering a basket of cash, symbolizing that the money should keep flowing instead of staying covered up under a lid... anyway, we always do that. It was actually pretty fun when I was the maid of honor and got to smash a plate myself, haha...

We're planning to do our photos separately while everyone else is partying. People will just pop in for a quick shot and get right back to the dance floor. We want things to move fast so the party never stops...

I swear, I’ve been to a couple of weddings where they actually beat the groom with a belt right at the exit! Absolutely wild.

silentharbor58 said:Hey everyone. I’m heading out to visit family in Naperville later this year, and since I’m getting married, I want to check out some local bridal boutiques while I'm in town. Any recommendations for a good shop? Thanks!

So, looking at Indianapolis, which is about 25 miles from Naperville, you've got Isabella, The Bride, Stephanie, and Nicholas (Isabella carries Pronovias and a few Saint Patrick pieces). The Bride has some different brands, Stephanie stocks Eddy K., Stephanie, and The Bride, and then Nicholas does their own thing, so there's plenty of variety to play with! In Naperville itself, if I remember right, there's maybe one or two shops. If you head over to Portland (about 25 miles from Naperville), you can hit up Lisa, who carries Maggie Sottero gowns, and there's also Nicholas over there too. Good luck with the hunt. Honestly, reading this just makes me realize how much I struggled—I couldn't pick anything from all those options, so I ended up just designing my own 😂

A little bottle of bourbon is basically the standard way we show hospitality around here; you know, that classic little gift you pass to guests when they drop by.

I'm not entirely sure if this will be much help to you...
I did hear something about a rose nursery located just outside of Portland, though I don't know the exact location...

Thanks so much! 🙂

I’ve got a quick question for my friends in the Midwest—does anyone know of a decent flower nursery around here? I tried doing a bit of Googling, but all I keep getting hit with are endless results for pine trees, violets, and stuff like that 🙄
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
You guys always post such killer photos, so I’ve basically been using this thread as my main source of inspiration 🙂 The whole dessert situation is actually sorted now because my mom and my aunt—who’s basically the family pro since she’s handling the baking for an upcoming wedding—are going to take over the cakes and sweets. They’re being a little bit grumpy about the idea of doing cupcakes, though, mostly just because they haven't tackled those before 😁 They aren't exactly sold on the idea of making the cupcakes the main wedding cake either, since they think it’s a bit unconventional. I’m still weighing my options, though; if we decide against that style for the main cake, we can always just go with a massive cupcake tower instead.

it looks great. honestly, I don't think you could find this kind of potential in a place like Asheville—the vibe, the scenery, 100 rooms available... and the price isn't bad either.

It's true that most of the budget is going straight to the catering, but my partner and I just fell head over heels for this venue. My biggest relief is definitely having the lodging right there so my guests aren't wandering around town hunting for a hotel late at night. Most places in Asheville just can't handle my crowd of 200-plus people. Anyway, yippeeeeeee! They finally uploaded new photos so I can actually show off the place. 🙂

Hey everyone, just wanted to show off a little bit—here’s a look at our restaurant 😍 though we’re planning on doing round tables, which will end up taking up about half the floor space.

Mark Nguyen11 said:Regarding those Midwest traditions... Honestly, there's nothing more tedious about weddings than that. It all boils down to following a rigid script where you already know exactly what happens when, and it just gets on my nerves. It kills the whole vibe...

My partner comes from a family with roots in the South, while I’m from the Midwest (though we live abroad now). If I were strictly following tradition, we'd be having a wedding under a tent in some muddy backyard, eating nothing but cornbread and listening to country music blaring all night—not to mention some of their customs that are even more nonsensical than ours. So, I told him I'm scrapping all the old traditions, both mine and his. If I have to make up new ones just to suit us, I will. I've already faced criticism that we're going to turn our wedding into a circus (especially from his side), but the real circus would happen if I actually did everything their way. I truly believe everyone will end up loving it precisely because it's different, though it's hard to assume that, especially with the older generation. Regardless, I think you should do it exactly how you feel is right, rather than how everyone else expects you to...

What kind of chaotic mess of traditions would that even be? 😁 Just stick to your guns; it's your wedding, and they've already done their part.

We finally picked our band, and honestly, we’re ready to drop some serious cash on them because they’re exactly what we wanted. It’ll be a mix of everything—some big international acts, some local favorites, even some Midwest vibes thrown in there. We aren't interested in any of those tacky traditions like buying a bride or those fake wedding ceremonies, and definitely no "cradle baby" stuff either. Most people are just showing up to hang out with me and my friends so we can cruise around in a convoy and blast our horns all night. 😁

I’m not from some huge metropolitan area either; I grew up in a tiny town of about 5,000 people where everyone expects that classic, old-school Midwest style, but I’m planning on shaking things up a bit... if people like it, great, and if they don't, well, at least they'll have something to gossip about tomorrow. 😉 I ended up having to cave to my parents to get the guest list up to 220 people. I really wanted something more intimate, but hey, they're footing a massive chunk of the bill, so I guess I owe them that much.
The thing is, you don't have your partner on your side with this; you guys aren't seeing eye to eye. Is there really no way to ditch some of those old customs? Where are you from originally? You can always shoot me a DM. 🙂

Jeffrey Walker3 said:Anyone got a good florist recommendation in Đakovo? Or maybe somewhere nearby? 🙂

I was looking at Palma from Đakovo, and honestly, I don't think they're exactly budget-friendly, but they’ve got some really gorgeous combinations over in their website gallery. 🙂

gentlehound9 said:Tell me exactly why a wedding in the Midwest has to be so steeped in tradition? I’m just not feeling it. 🙂
Every single relative—especially the parents—would basically disown us if we didn't follow all those ridiculous customs.
Honestly, part of me just wants to pack up and run away somewhere with nothing but our best man and maid of honor. 😢

Just tell them Laganini, it's your wedding and they've already had their turn at the altar 😉 I remember going head-to-head with my own folks about stuff like this, but I eventually stood my ground 😁. So, which specific traditions are giving you such a headache?

It was honestly perfect! That crew from the local studio is a solid ten out of ten, they’re just full of ideas and always making suggestions, though you both definitely need to be on the same page and work together. 😉The final shots should be ready in about a month, but in the meantime, they’ll send over some teasers and will fix things if you aren't feeling them. You get to pick the photos for the album yourself, too. Since we had that weird light drizzle happening, we ended up doing the shoot on Monday instead and we don't regret it one bit. They didn't charge us extra for the reschedule either. Honestly, the guys are totally low-key and stay out of the way, unless, obviously, you go out of your way to pose for them.
We are beyond happy and haven't regretted hiring them for even a second... 👍

😁 Thanks so much!

His base price starts at $500, and if you include the full wall painting package, it goes up to about $1667.
The thing is, he’s pretty flexible—you can basically chat with him about your budget, and he’ll find a way to make it work for you.

I can shoot you his cell number via DM if you need it!

Could you send me the number? 🙂
