vividgardener7 said:Hey guys, does anyone know where I can find some decent cake toppers? I’m looking for something relatively simple and romantic, but nothing that breaks the bank... I've been browsing eBay, but everything seems to be way over $33. I was really hoping to spend a bit less on this part of things. Or am I just being unrealistic—is that kind of price actually standard for stuff like this??

You should take a look at http://www.freehouse.biz/ponuda_kate...dsek=5&idpg=14
most of them are ceramic, which makes them

I actually paid for mine out of my own pocket $9.25 plus the tax 😉

Thanks 🙂

Kimberly Alvarez8, I know I’m a bit late to the party here, but perhaps this might actually be useful—you should check the local bookstore downtown; if I recall correctly, they carry that specific pin. $13 Twenty bucks? Honestly, it’s basically the same thing. $0.67I actually stumbled upon this quite by accident myself—just one of those "right place, right time" moments. But honestly, if you happen to find yourself wandering down that corridor, or if you know someone who does, you should definitely make a move. There’s this massive warehouse section over there dedicated to kitchenware and appliances, and they have a whole selection of plastic goods too. It’s significantly cheaper than anything else around here, so don't sleep on it. 🙂

rowdyjackal922 said:velvetwalker742, here's the breakdown 😉

-$300 (15 lbs of pastries $20/1lb)
-$167 (100 assorted mousse cups)
-$250 (3 lbs of pralines $83/1 lb)
-$150 (3 lbs of chocolate-covered fruit $50/1 lb)
-$400 wedding cake
-$133 decorations
-$233 delivery to Naperville
-----------
= $1633 🙂

There was actually even less cake physically there—otherwise we would've had at least 10 lbs left for the next day if all 100 guests loved sweets as much as I do 🙂

Your math is completely off, dear... and honestly, I don't know why we're nitpicking every little detail, but fine, I went through my emails to find the actual figures.

30 kg of pastries x $20 = $600

3 kg of pralines x $50 = $150

20 mousse cups x $2.25 = $47

30 mousse cups x $1.75 = $50

70 mousse cups x $1.00 = $70

cake for 120 people = $400

delivery to Naperville = $233

setup/arrangement = $133

total = $1683

We eventually scaled back the pastry order by 5 kg and added some fruit instead, while bumping up the count on certain mousses, which brought the total to approximately $4,900.
I believe the chocolate-covered fruit was $23/kg...

Everything was laid out on the table and, honestly, we polished off almost everything!! I somehow managed to walk away about four or five pounds heavier after Sunday lunch!! 😁

Jeremy Kern said:I haven't decided yet. My sister—and yeah, I know I’m being a total pest about this, 😁, but it’s just easier to mimic her since everything she did was flawless 🙂—ended up getting five cakes total (the main wedding cake plus four others). They were all different: one was a frozen breeze flavor, then a deep chocolate, then a Schwarzwald... I can't remember the fourth one off the top of my head, gotta ask her.🙂 It worked out great because guests could actually pick what they wanted. You know how it is—you don't want someone handing you a chocolate fudge when you hate chocolate, while the guy next to you gets a fruit medley and isn't a fan of fruit.😁
What kind of flavors did you all go with?

That's awesome, glad you loved it.👍
I meant the way they plate them, not the actual decorations. Does she charge extra for that?
I'm planning on calling them next week to get a full breakdown of prices and see what the final damage will be. Is delivery still $67? I don't doubt the quality, though—they were just as good back in 2008.

How many pounds did you guys order, and what was the total hit to the wallet, if you don't mind me asking? (No pressure). My sister went with 70 lbs 😁 at $18 per pound.

As for the plating situation, I honestly haven't a clue; we opted for that dessert table setup instead, which turned out to be a brilliant idea. Everyone just grabs whatever catches their eye onto their own little plate, and it works perfectly!
I'm not entirely sure where you're located, but they usually charge for delivery based on distance. It cost me $233 to get everything to our place. However, the guy I spoke to at the bridal expo mentioned that anything within 31 miles is free of charge, though I suppose that depends on where you are. Your best bet is to just call and ask. One piece of advice, though: whatever you settle on, make sure you confirm everything via email and for heaven's sake, do not delete those threads until the whole thing is over! We had a bit of a misunderstanding once, and if it hadn't been for that paper trail, things would have gone south quite quickly...
We had 100 guests, and we ordered (roughly speaking, I'm just throwing numbers around here) about 25 kilos of pastries, over 100 of those little cups in various sizes, roughly 3kg of chocolate-covered fruit, about 3kg of chocolate pralines, and a cake. All told, including delivery and the decorations, it came to $1633.
And everyone keeps raving about those pralines, yet I didn't even manage to try a single one. Not even the fruit! 😢

Hey, Jeremy Kern!
I think I paid $20/kg—or at least that’s what I was aiming for when I put down my deposit while the price was still low, though now I’m second-guessing myself and wondering if it actually jumped to $65. I already shelled out $133 for the decor, but honestly, I’d happily pay even more because everything was just so incredibly 😲! I also picked up those little mousse cups; they were priced at $3, $5, or $2.25 depending on how much you wanted to indulge, and let me tell you, they were absolutely divine. I'll post some actual photos once I get the professional shots, because these amateur ones I took are all blurry and frankly embarrassing... anyway, the cake was a Raffaello flavor and it was simply heavenly! 😁

Uh, I just unearthed this from the archives. 😬
Even though we hit a few minor bumps in the road during the initial planning stages, everything turned out absolutely flawless in the end. They truly earned my trust; the desserts were both visually stunning and incredibly delicious, which was honestly a pleasant surprise. The cake was equally spectacular—I think I received more compliments on the sweets and the band than anything else at the wedding. So, my official recommendation goes to Absum. Their prices are reasonable, yet the quality is top-tier! 😍

Jerry Perez76 said:Hey there!

I've been scrolling through the forum for a bit, but I’m having a hard time finding much info on the Visnjica restaurant near Slatina. Has anyone here actually hosted a wedding there? I'm curious what the approximate price per person looks like, what exactly is included in that rate, and how flexible they are when it comes to negotiating or making tweaks to the plan. Any insights would be amazing!

There are a few pages of discussion right above this, so do yourself a favor and scroll back through the thread! 😉

😂 Well, I finally figured it out!!! 😁
I’m currently on the hunt for a new makeup artist myself; the girl I was actually counting on just found out she's pregnant, and of course, her due date falls right during my big day... so now I'm left scrambling a bit. Hopefully, someone talented crosses my path soon! 🙂

My apologies, Zachary Martin10, but that woman actually lives in Seville; I highly doubt she’d be flying all the way to the States just to do someone's makeup at a decent rate. 🤣
Find someone local and get it sorted! 😉

Honestly, Carl Clark, you can find stuff like that all over the rural Midwest... if you happen to have some friends or family out that way, maybe they could lend a hand? I’ll check with my grandmother; she actually sells it (not to me, obviously), and if I recall correctly, it goes for about $4 or $5 a gallon... (though at a gas station, you're looking at closer to $10 :rolleyes). If you don't strike gold nearby, just shoot me a DM and we'll figure something out! 😉

Anthony Hall83, look, they told us it’s $12/person, but there was this little caveat: don't actually book for the total headcount we expect. They suggested planning for only about 50-60% of our guest list because their portions are incredibly generous and include so much more than just the basics. So, following that logic, they advised me that for our group of 110, I should probably just order for 60—and they even gave me their word that we'd definitely have plenty left over. Honestly, though, I’m a bit of a nervous wreck about this because their food is absolutely divine, and I can't bear the thought of running short. I think I'll play it safe and book for 70 just to be certain; I'd much rather deal with an abundance of leftovers than a hungry crowd. Besides, we’ll be supplementing the spread with some local favorites from my neck of the woods anyway, like some high-end artisanal cheese and homemade sausages.
Anyway, I hope that clears things up! 😉

Justin Chavez19 said:Hey everyone!

Does anyone have a good catering recommendation in the Midwest, specifically near Indianapolis? I need something for a little get-together at my place before the wedding.

By the way, the Google band is playing my event. I haven't seen them live yet, but I see nothing but good things about them on here. They’ve been incredibly professional during the booking process.

The Park Hotel in Indianapolis offers catering services... maybe give them a call and see what they can do. Please send any phone numbers via private message. M.
John Doe... we're actually already in touch with him regarding the wedding reception.... good luck! 😍

espinada, honestly, if you're looking into the $20 over in the Abyss near Des Moines, here's my two cents. I’ve actually attended two weddings they’ve catered, and while the desserts were perfectly fine—tasty enough, certainly, but nothing that would make you jump out of your seat in pure ecstasy—they were just solid, reliable treats. However, I have to say, their decor absolutely blew me away; those mirror displays were just 😲 perfection, all delicately dusted with powdered sugar and arranged with such intentional, beautiful precision... it really caught my eye. In my humble opinion, they aren't even pricey, especially since they charge $67 for transport from Des Moines out to our area. It feels like that amount barely covers the gas and tolls on the interstate, but hey, that's just their number. 😍

Our pastries are priced at $20/lb, and let me be perfectly clear: I know for a fact I couldn't whip these up myself for any less than that!! 🙂: Besides, having that certification isn't exactly trivial... everything happens for a reason! (Apple) In certain circles, specifically among some folks, one might find it useful to lean on that old adage: it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt... so, I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions about that. 🤣

swiftraven59 said:I might have missed this already, but I don't want to scroll through every single thread—could you guys share your experiences with La Sposa in Indianapolis?

We actually visited them recently. We were seen by an older lady who was incredibly polite, though she took us straight upstairs to the fitting area—they handle all the changing on the upper floor while the ground level is just for greeting you—and then she brought out an absolute mountain of gowns. It was a constant cycle of "try this one on," then "how about this?" She was lovely, really, though I should probably offer a fair warning: she has a massive, almost obsessive passion for lace, so most of what she pulls out will feature plenty of it. 🤣And let me tell you, she isn't shy about voicing her opinion! All in all, though, we had a very positive experience!! 😍

Look, casualhawk16, you've got a point there—their prices are definitely higher. We actually sat down and compared a few different items, and every single one came out a couple of dollars more expensive. A friend of ours runs a local flower shop and sources her inventory through a wholesaler in Indianapolis; she ends up paying the exact same rates they do because she’s strictly tied to their specific discount structure. On top of that, she still has to factor in the extra shipping costs and those ridiculous ferry fees just to get her stock delivered. Honestly, I find the whole setup a little predatory... 😈
😂
