How smart do you think you are? (1-10) in Off-topic ·
The smart tax would clearly be one of those things that gets paid regularly and without any errors over at Off. 😁

Now, as soon as Andrej Plenković hears about this, he’ll be hot on the heels of Louis XV. 🤣

I'm curious to see how they're going to grade Kimberly Rodriguez—she's such a total overachiever. ☕

Jessica Gonzalez said:It’s funny how they framed his story, almost like he was some kid from a refugee camp arriving in the States with nothing but a couple of bucks in his pocket. That commentator keeps talking about how he rose up from oppression and poverty, even though his family is probably doing better than most American players, especially in the NBA. I guess it just makes for a great narrative. 🙏

steelharbor9 said:No, that’s not really what they were getting at. They were saying people underestimated him because he didn't seem like a "tough guy," totally ignoring the environment he actually came up in. I remember hearing people use terms like "poverty" and "oppression" as excuses. It feels kind of wild to say that when you compare his background to how most NBA players grew up in the States 😁

Typical American business.
🙄😁

I think I’ll wait just a little longer before casting my vote for Kimberly Rodriguez51—just to keep things interesting. ☕

At the end of the day, it’s all about aesthetics. 🙂

I went with Rassek. He basically judges people based on their vibe—he’s got this way of reading someone's soul just by looking at them.😳

I'm not really a huge fan of crime dramas or those "gritty" shows—unless they lean into post-apocalyptic vibes, sci-fi, high-tech stuff, or some mystery elements—but unknown looks pretty interesting.

Speaking of debauchery, have you ever seen The Young Pope or The New Pope? 😁

German is actually great, I just haven't stumbled upon many series from them before. 😳

I wouldn't recommend unknown if you aren't into intense stuff; there's so much violence in it that even I found it a bit jarring.

I've only seen The Young Pope, not The New Pope. Good call on reminding me, though—I definitely need to check that one out. 😁
Lenny is great. 😁
I think Medici is an excellent series too.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve sat down to watch anything from Germany.

I recently knocked out a session of the intense ZeroZeroZero, and now I’ve moved on to Los Angeles and the wild ride that is Borgia. 😁

wanderingheron9 said:The subject matter is definitely interesting and they certainly cast some great actors—but honestly, the movie felt a bit sluggish and a chore to sit through. Personally, I think that 8.3 rating on IMDb is way too high.🤔

I actually preferred this one much more:

I'm right there with both of you.
That movie felt overrated to me, too.

Tells The Story of Benjamin Button is just fantastic. 🙂

AF managed to find some footing in America because people were already hooked on Italian comics. That was the dominant influence, so everyone was used to that specific style.
The US market was pretty much directly tied to all the comic trends coming out of Italy.
As for popularity in other regions, the Franco-Belgian scene basically considered itself the gold standard of the art form. Breaking into a market like that and actually making your own comics mainstream is incredibly tough—you have to secure a distributor and be ready to swallow massive costs, especially when you know from day one that the market is going to be skeptical.
Meanwhile, England has been leaning more into that Marvel vibe since the 70s.

Kimberly Rodriguez51 is definitely on a bit of a cocaine high today—it’s actually pretty interesting to watch. ☕
