Is it actually possible that Valtteri Bottas is this much of a disaster? 🙏

Valtteri Bottas is going to pull his own hair out from the sheer stress of it all.
Jose Myers87 said:Bottas is out there today driving for his own career and Hamilton's too. The stakes couldn't be higher. This might just be the most critical race of the century.

Exactly. If he screws this up, Mercedes loses a fortune in revenue next year... 🙂

Hey,

Which clinic in the Split area would you recommend if I need a full general checkup?

I'm looking at private options, since it's probably not the best time to try navigating things through Medicare right now.
Dana Murphy4 said:I guess Valtteri Bottas seems pretty frustrated, so maybe we'll see anything can happen during qualifying 😁

Hahahahah, I actually remember this from three years ago... 🤣
Even if he does lead, he'll just end up messing things up with the pit crew... "Valtteri... just get it together one more time..."
silverviper44 said:Look, Sebastian Vettel isn't Pastor Maldonado; he didn't just stumble into a win or a title. Winning four championships in a row takes actual talent.

In 2010, he beat out Fernando Alonso right when everyone assumed Alonso would cruise to the title without breaking a sweat. That proves his skill, and no amount of armchair expert chatter is going to change that reality.

The Mercedes-Benz was easily the best car of the hybrid era. Ferrari got close, sure, but they were never actually better. Vettel never stood a chance with them, not to mention those questionable FIA decisions that seemed to always disadvantage Ferrari while favoring Mercedes-Benz.

It's no secret that Vettel was driving a massively dominant car back then, and we'll see the reality of that next year. At the time, Ferrari offered Adrian Newey whatever price he wanted. Apparently, moving to America wasn't on the table for Adrian (rumor has it he just couldn't find a reason to relocate, but whatever).
mellowtiger83 said:That is an accurate assessment. Alonso would have secured the world championship in 2017 and 2018 because he is simply a higher-caliber driver than Vettel. Unfortunately, Alonso was stuck in a Ferrari that wasn't even remotely competitive compared to what it could have been, yet he still managed to fight for the title.

Naturally, Tibi will deny this, as per usual.

I'm telling you, Ferrari really missed out with Alonso in 2017 and 2018. 😉
The issue was that Maurizio Arrivabene swore he wouldn't touch a Ferrari car again as long as he lived, and that was that. Alonso is a phenomenal driver, but his personality can be incredibly difficult to deal with.
As for Vettel? He's just Vettel... good chat, a little bit of luck with timing... boom.

Edit: People can deny it all they want. Over the last two years, every single one of Vettel's mistakes has been a rookie blunder. There isn't much left to overthink or analyze here; the situation is pretty obvious.
silverviper44 said:Correction: any SERIOUS driver in that Mercedes-Benz would cruise to a championship. Bottas isn't a serious driver, and even he managed to rack up a decent number of wins and pole positions.

Honestly, I don't get why everyone is so shocked when drivers switch teams. Look at Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull Racing. Once he moved to Ferrari, after that brief moment of hype and excitement, it became painfully obvious that the guy is, at best, slightly above average—nothing more. Even the Ferrari crew themselves have hinted that they'd have preferred having Fernando Alonso in the car during 2017 and 2018; they’d definitely be fighting for titles instead of sweating every time Vettel pulls a legendary spin off the track or makes some rookie mistake.
copperdrifter26 said:Lewis Hamilton is a brilliant driver, no doubt about it, but there’s always an asterisk hanging over his career. Back from 2010 to 2014, he was driving cars that were arguably better than what Fernando Alonso had, yet he somehow looked less impressive on track. He even lost out on points to Jenson Button for three straight years, and he struggled against Nico Rosberg too, even though he stayed incredibly close to him in qualifying throughout that whole Mercedes-Benz era—I’d say he took about 55% of those sessions.

So, yeah, a huge chunk of that success definitely comes down to the car. People started calling him greater than Ayrton Senna or Michael Schumacher once he grabbed that seventh title, but if you look at what George Russell is doing lately—and keep in mind, he's mostly just been testing that dominant W10 from last year—it really feels like a massive part of that legacy was just having the most dominant car in history under his feet. That being said, I still think he's absolutely the better driver compared to Sebastian Vettel.

A realistic summary of the situation.

Importing from China in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
urbanwalker72 said:I don't know the exact regulations or the precise dollar amounts, but generally speaking, you'll be responsible for customs duties and sales tax.

While that customs officer’s attitude was certainly unprofessional, his point carries some weight. In practical terms, it frequently happens that Chinese suppliers ship products without the necessary documentation or with paperwork that doesn't comply with American laws, which forces officials to either return the shipment or destroy it entirely.

You would likely benefit more from consulting someone who has actual experience importing similar merchandise from comparable suppliers in China; general rules alone won't provide much guidance...

That's about the gist of it.

I called up U.S. Customs and Border Protection to get some clarity on import duties and the whole legal process.

It was an absolute disaster. They transferred me to some guy on the line who honestly struggled to string a coherent sentence together. When I asked him to briefly explain the tax requirements and the standard procedure, he just launched into a fifteen-minute lecture without actually answering a single one of my questions.

He started off with, "well I am listening now..." and then went on with, "...you really ought to think twice about importing that stuff from China, what are you even looking at?" followed by, "you were probably lured in by the low prices, but that's not how this works," "if you try to bring that junk in from China and it doesn't meet our regulations, we'll just ship the container back or destroy everything," "if the goods lack the proper certifications, you're going to have massive problems," and finally, "can you even manage to get that into the country..."

Am I losing my mind here, or what?

I’m looking into importing some electrical appliances and raw materials from China.

Where can I find out which specific certifications those products and materials need to clear customs and be legally sold here in the States?

I see there's already a thread below regarding imports from China. I’d like to ask the moderator to just go ahead and completely delete this post of mine.

Greetings,

Could someone provide a quick breakdown of the import process from China? I need to know exactly what fees and overhead I'll be facing before my inventory is actually ready for retail.
What’s the best way to calculate the total landed cost—everything from the initial order until the goods are sitting on my shelf?

Also, can I run this kind of business under a simple sole proprietorship?

I’m also wondering what the deal is with them. From what I can see, they aren't even really driving anymore...

Alfa Romeo has been in a total freefall over the last few races. 👎

Kevin Magnussen 👎 After he completely trashed his car with that mistake, he spent the final two laps fighting just to keep an unmanageable machine on the track. 🤣

And honestly, he’s at his most "impressive" when he's just driving aggressively. People love to complain about his skill, but frankly, you should just be happy they don't kick him out and start cycling through drivers like AlphaTauri does until they stumble onto someone decent. He actually seems to think he's some kind of indispensable asset there.
Good grief...
