Which RAM model should I buy? in Hardware ·
Right-click the taskbar -> Task Manager -> Performance -> Memory
In one corner of that window, you should see the speed in MHz along with the specific type of RAM being used.

What you likely need is: DDR3 1600 MHz SODIMM
An 8GB kit would be roughly $167

If you head over to a Best Buy or a similar tech shop in your area, you can just buy the RAM there and they'll handle the installation for you!
I imagine they'd charge you about $33

I wouldn't personally recommend trying to install it yourself.
That particular Dell Inspiron model is a bit tricky for anyone without experience; you have to pull out the DVD drive and strip off the entire bottom panel just to reach the motherboard.
Issues with my graphics cards in Hardware ·
What does the card look like on the outside? Are there any signs of burnt or melted components? Also, did you happen to keep an eye on the system's load temperatures?

I am looking for a processor paired with a motherboard for a maximum of $500$200.
For the graphics card, I have budgeted around $400.
As for the RAM, I'm thinking roughly $350.
I wouldn't exactly call this a discount. These look like the standard prices to me.
Advice for buying a gaming PC! in Desktops ·
Personally, I’d much rather see 4.0GHz than 3.6GHz, so I am more than happy to pay $167 a premium. 😁
I imagine that’s exactly how they designed these computers.

That’s quite pricey! You can definitely find much better value for that amount of money.
For instance, you could build a high-quality setup featuring:

1x Intel Core i3-8350K (8MB Cache, 4.00GHz)
1x AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB GDDR5, 256-bit

I would suggest avoiding those older i5 series processors, as they just aren't worth the investment anymore.
There is absolutely nothing to worry about! Everything will run perfectly without a single hitch.

Dell XPS 15
It features a gorgeous 17" IPS display, which is pretty clear from the model name itself.
Intel Core i5
8GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GTX 950
1TB 7200rpm HDD
128GB SSD

The laptop is just a year old, and I still have a full year of warranty left!
I have the original box and everything included.
It’s in pristine condition; I used it strictly as a workstation until my desktop arrived, so now I'm looking to switch to something more portable.

Do you think $400 is a fair asking price? Considering the specs and the fact that I paid $650 for it just last year?

That works perfectly. Thank you so much! 🙂

My laptop tends to run quite hot during certain gaming sessions, so I’ve decided to invest in a desktop to extend its lifespan—and perhaps to save future mobile users from similar headaches! I am looking for a build intended strictly for casual gaming. (Diablo, World of Warcraft, older strategy and RPG titles, and the occasional round of FIFA with friends)

Here is what I have put together:

The total comes to $1783 in cash.

I would love to know if I can optimize this further for a similar budget, or if I am good to go!
I am completely open to any suggestions.
