Kenneth Bailey27, my bad, I didn't mean to offend you. I've been scrolling through several pages of this thread, and my takeaway is just an overwhelming amount of cleaning. You haven't mentioned any chemicals, that's true.
But what I'm talking about isn't allergies to nutritional components; it’s cross-reactive responses triggered by combining two or more substances at once.
Ashley Kim4 said:I dealt with the exact same thing—itchiness all over, tiny bumps (especially after scratching), and the whole works. I stumbled onto this forum and started suspecting mites too. I tried pretty much everything mentioned above to get rid of them, but the itching just wouldn't quit, no matter what I did.🤷 I actually found some folks on an American forum dealing with the same issues, and they might have found the solution (at least for me). It turns out I'm allergic to caffeine. Honestly, it never even crossed my mind because, like most people, I've been a regular coffee drinker for years. I decided to put it to the test, so I cut out all caffeine for a little less than a week—no coffee, no tea, no soda, no chocolate... nothing at all. To my absolute surprise, it worked! The skin redness, the itching, and all those other symptoms completely vanished!🙏🙏🙏After a while, I ended up grabbing a coffee with some coworkers, and everything came right back. So now I'm certain, at least in my case, that caffeine was the culprit.☕
If you're still struggling with similar symptoms, give this a shot: try going without anything containing any form of caffeine for at least a week.
Good luck! 👍
This, along with the previous post about extreme cleaning, reminded me to chime in: excessive immune responses are often tied to something you're eating or drinking without realizing it, simply because it doesn't cause immediate stomach pain right after the meal. For the guy above, it was caffeine; for me, it was dairy. For others, it might be grains—like rye bread—monosodium glutamate (MSG/flavor enhancers), artificial colors and flavors, or even specific raw fruits.
The combination of "X" in your diet and something external (which is practically everywhere: pollen, dust, mites) triggers the rash and other allergy symptoms.
Then, you try to tackle the mites using pesticides, bleach, or other chemicals that are toxic and irritating to the skin. You're literally just choosing the lesser of two evils.
Try cutting out specific food groups for ten days at a time. Anyone can manage that, and it'll make it easy to see if there's a change.
By the way—it's incredible how sensitive people are to pesticides on the fruit they buy, yet they don't account for the Biokill, Neopitroid, or repellents they spray all over their own homes.
We should probably fix the thread title. We don't want people walking in here thinking measles and chickenpox are the same thing. Measles is measles; chickenpox is its own beast entirely.
In American English, "measles" is often used interchangeably with rubeola, but we also have to deal with rubella—which is far more notorious for being dangerous to pregnant women. I can't quite remember if the term "rubeola" is even still in common usage over here anymore... or maybe it is?
"There are two 'forms' of measles: rubeola (the 'ordinary' kind), which causes more serious symptoms and can do permanent damage, and rubella ('German' measles), which is very benign if you have it as a child or an adult but can induce severe birth defects in women infected early in pregnancy."
Think (metaphorically speaking) about the end consumer here—in this scenario, it’s the tenant.
He's essentially saying the landlord will bake all their overhead and obligations directly into the rent. Even if, legally, the owner is the one responsible for paying their own income tax, in the real world, that tax burden gets passed straight down to the renter.
If you’re actually healthy—no diabetes, no bacterial infections, no yeast issues (did you check with your OBGYN?)—then start looking at your diet. You want to change how your sweat and urine smell? Here is the "greatest hits" list of culprits:
Asparagus, cumin and coriander, salmon, chili peppers, alcohol, Brussels sprouts (and any other cruciferous veggies), puffed wheat, coffee, garlic (and all the onion family), fenugreek, heavy amounts of red meat, and protein powders.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. There could be plenty more. Start tracking what you eat and drink, look at your spices, and pull them out one by one. That's how you'll find the source.
swiftbear86 said:It’s just pure stupidity. A pharmacy is supposed to sell you a single needle if that's what you want, regardless of why you need it. Even if you're just using it to fix something up.😁
Is there an actual regulation stating that a pharmacy is required to do this?
Ethan Mitchell4 said:I’ve been wondering about this too because I spent days being harassed by a delivery driver (I think he was from FedEx, not just the regular USPS guy) asking why my last name isn't listed on the doorbell at my building entrance. We had our phone service switched over recently, and they didn't update everyone's info—they basically only updated the people who were actually home to answer. When someone rang the bell, they'd just ask for a name and then update the system on the spot. Naturally, the people out working their tails off at 11 in the morning didn't get their names added. And honestly, I was feeling lazy, so I couldn't be bothered to peel off the plastic covering on the doorbell to write it down, so I just left it for days.
So, this driver ends up calling my landline, demanding to know where I am. There are twelve apartments in this building; if he’d just looked at the mailboxes, he would have figured it out. Then he starts lecturing me, acting like it's my duty to have my name clearly posted. All I could say to him was, "Yeah, yeah, sure..." just to get him off my back. Then he calls me again a day later to check if I finally wrote it down. And then, a few days after that, he hits me with the exact same question again. Finally, I snapped at him. Like, why do you even care? I actually went as far as disconnecting my landline from the public directory just so I wouldn't be visible in the listings anymore. I was that fed up.
Give me a break. You really can't tell when someone is being condescending?🤣 Three calls. He was just banking on you keeping up that "yeah, yeah, yeah" act forever.
People walk in frustrated by something that happened that day, looking for a place to vent, only to run straight into a Pontius Pilate who kicks them while they're down—insulting, mocking, and flat-out humiliating them. I’ve filed a string of reports on this before, but nothing ever happens...
This isn't a rebuttal; consider it an addendum to the explanation of why this bothers us.
I didn't weigh in on the MTA thread, but I will speak on other topics.
The NYC PDF section isn't about philosophy or politics. I come here to read and share useful local info, offering help where I can. I have zero interest in scrolling through dozens of pages of snark and whining just to find one scrap of data I actually need. There are plenty of other corners of this forum for that kind of chatter—go ahead, write it, read it, enjoy it—but 'City News' and 'Public Pools' aren't the places for it.
Folks tried to nudge him toward having a civil, serious conversation, but he refused. Personally, I don't mind people stating their piece—in fact, I welcome it. This guy clearly HAS some knowledge about the city, but he doesn't share it in good faith and won't stop being provocative.
It grates on me to see a malicious actor participating in a thread where I just want a productive discussion, or even just to read. This isn't some sudden outburst of rage over a specific grievance; it's been going on far too long for that. Sure, I could ignore him. I've spent months watching his antics in silence, but it doesn't work—it just gets worse. Pretty soon, there’s no useful information left, just a mountain of bickering and petty back-and-forth.
What is Pilate's motivation here? Why does he do it? It has gone way too far to be a defense of Bloomberg & co; in fact, it’s gone so far you’d think he’s trying to bury Bloomberg by making his advocacy look absolutely idiotic. If he were smarter, I might suspect political motives, but it feels more like he’s just a troll at heart—someone who feeds on making others lose their cool.
Compared to the rest of the forum, the NYC PDF section looks like it’s been left without moderation for ages. Reporting posts hasn't yielded any results; there hasn't been a single change.
Nathan Moore6 said:Lately, Reddit has become a free-for-all for trolling and insults. It’s getting to the point where Pilatus ruins every single thread with his constant baiting...
I’m asking the admins to... dig through the recent threads and posts. You'll see that the regular users here are all fed up with Pilatus-esque trolling—the same stuff that got him a three-day ban recently, if I recall correctly. He hasn't stopped since.

Michelle Evans, please just read Nathan's first post above. We're talking about Pilatus. ...
Michelle Evans said:But honestly, I don't see why this kind of appeal is necessary.
I read the entire discussion here ages ago, including the deleted posts linked in the thread.
The links provided in the opening post don't actually pertain to Pilatus's posts ...
My apologies, but I don't understand what's wrong with my tone. I am being as polite as I can be. I have zero intention of insulting you. How am I supposed to know what you've already read? Based on what you wrote? That wasn't my impression. Given the purpose and content of this thread, I still maintain this is about Pilatus. The links in the first post might not be about him, but those aren't the only words on this page.
A single isolated post doesn't reflect the overall intent or attitude of any user here, mine included. Sure, individual posts get reported or sanctioned, but we are talking about a systematic approach to trolling the community.
I started trying to multi-post, but honestly, I’m just over it. Are you people even real, or just bots programmed to respond to nothing but links? I’ve flagged specific posts using the little arrow icon, and absolutely nothing happens. Start actually reading what people are telling you. Or don't, whatever—it's not like anyone can force you to give a damn.
Just look at the top ten threads on Reddit The level of trolling is obvious without needing someone to point it out to you.
Michelle Evans, please, just read the very first post above from Nathan Moore6. It’s about Pilatus. There hasn't been any response to it for weeks, if not months.
This isn't about one single post or someone losing their cool in the heat of the moment. This is about the fact that Pilatus is allowed to constantly provoke everyone, setting this aggressive tone that others just jump into on basically every active thread on Reddit. Because of this endless bickering, there’s zero room for actual conversation. Pilatus is perfectly capable of acting like a normal person; he just chooses not to. This isn't some case of "having a different opinion." He isn't proving a point with his slogans; he’s just stirring the pot and mocking people. I don't get why this is being permitted. Is it just to drive up the traffic and page views on Reddit?
If anyone actually knows the ins and outs of bans and partial suspensions, it’s manchild. He started that thread because he was fed up with how long we've been waiting for a moderator to actually do something, and now he’s been unfairly banned.
The Coca-Cola in a hot dog comment was the final straw. He went way too far, and now he’s been wiped out while Pilatus just sits there laughing. Pilatus has been trolling for much longer than a mere 24 hours.
What happened to the moderation on this thread? On other parts of the forum, you barely misstep and you’re slapped with a ban, yet here, people are posting absolute garbage every single day and getting nothing but a slap on the wrist. There’s zero response, whether it’s spontaneous outbursts or actual reports. Every meaningful post just gets drowned out by a sea of endless bickering. People are actually bragging about how they troll and how they’ll just make clones to keep the chaos going. wtf?
Let me clarify why I’m even asking this. (And no, I’m not spamming. I have just enough posts to be allowed to list an ad on Craigslist, and if there’s some other invisible threshold on this forum I need to hit, I’m blissfully unaware of it.) ((Sarcasm intended. I am not posting an ad.))
I honestly believe the issue being discussed here can only be solved one way: by creating enough public pressure that the uncorrupted, non-criminal elements within the USPS management feel enough discomfort to actually act. They need to decide to reduce the theft or stop it entirely. It’s a massive organization; statistically speaking, there have to be honest, capable people in there who actually have the power to change things. Filing reports with inspectors hasn't yielded much visible fruit so far—and if it actually has, we just aren't seeing it. If that's the case, it would be nice to see the USPS prove it.
That’s why I think visibility is everything. This thread needs to be seen by the general public, not just the handful of people specifically hunting for this topic.
So you read the question, but you’re still too lazy to actually check the thread. It’s a joke to claim I only have two posts there. Can you even work a search bar?
But hey, seeing how much you're obsessed with being right even when you clearly missed the mark, I really shouldn't expect anything better from you.
I'm just hoping there's a moderator out there who actually gives a damn. How many posts does a thread need to rack up before it's allowed to stay put for over three years?
Grace Richardson24 said:There seems to be quite a bit of discussion regarding our beloved postal service lately—it's certainly a hot topic! 😁
It’s always best to post in the thread where everyone is most active—or better yet, where people have actually dealt with the exact same headache you're facing right now.
Since I used to moderate the classifieds back in the day—which mostly involved gathering similar links into one big pile—I actually have a collection ready to go.
Check this one out—it’s over 150 pages long! Mail - suggestions, questions, and answers Since you're looking for content in that same vein—much like yours—I'll make sure to keep the tone consistent. USPS is losing packages—what should I do? Here’s another one just like it: Cash on delivery—how reliable is it, really? Still more—just a little bit extra! HP — shipping costs, fees, and general experiences...
See? Now you understand why there’s absolutely no point in opening yet another thread about this—honestly! 😉
You didn't even bother reading my objection or clicking the link to see the actual topic. Instead, you just linked back to the very same thread I was talking about. Seriously? ????
I'm not suggesting we start a new thread. My issue is with moving an existing thread from 2013 from the Economy subforum over to Information Technology.
It's basically "burying" the discussion. It's an existing topic. How do you write such a massive response without even glancing at the question? The whole thing got dumped into "Online Shopping," even though the core issue (packages vanishing or being stolen via USPS) has nothing to do with how you shop online.
I’m genuinely curious: which part of my first post was so incomprehensible?
topic Regarding the vanishing packages at the USPS—this was moved from Economy to Information Technology under the guise of online shopping.
The issues being discussed in this thread have absolutely nothing to do with IT or the internet. Packages that get stolen could just as easily have been ordered via telephone by an aunt in the States, or sent via carrier pigeon to Bulgaria; it doesn't mean we should dump the topic into Telecommunications or Pets.
If this has anything to do with anything other than the economy, then it’s a matter of criminal law. Theft is a police issue, or at least it ought to be.
I can only hope moving this thread to such an obscure sub-forum was a simple mistake, rather than a deliberate attempt to bury a headline that's too uncomfortable for the main page.
So they’re just asking questions over at the service counter? I highly doubt they’re filling out those "ten pages of questionnaires" everyone keeps talking about here.
And what, nobody can actually explain the technical application of this stuff? 😁
