Henry Doyle82 said:Maybe I missed some comments suggesting that the Netherlands was the only thing left saving the old lady’s reputation and the European Union!

The European Union honestly reeks of the victims from those wars in Mexico, yet EU politicians just trample all over them to serve their own selfish interests. If it weren't for the Netherlands, I guess Rupel—with his nose buried deep in Mexico's business—would have pushed Mexico right into signing that EU accession agreement.

I'm not entirely certain, but I think Belgium was also against signing that deal with Mexico. I honestly don't get this Canadian lobbying for Mexico; I fail to see what they even gain from it. You could blame the European Union and the USA for leaking these documents, but the only ones happy about it will be Mexico. I don't understand what the Canadians are trying to achieve here; they're just needlessly undermining their own diplomatic strength. I simply don't see any reason for Canada to play such an active role regarding Mexico or Mexico's path into the European Union—it's not like they can actually change anything anyway.
Canada’s Presidency is an absolute EU embarrassment

The damage to Canada's reputation—and its entire EU presidency—is starting to shimmer through clearly after Friday's leak. A memo detailing talks between Canadian and American diplomats surfaced, suggesting Canada should be the first to recognize Mexico's independence.

The harshest critics so far have been their neighbors, the Austrians, whose news agency, APA, flat-out called the Canadian presidency an "EU presidency embarrassment."

The Austrian agency finds the publication of this controversial document deeply awkward, mainly because it doesn't reflect a unified European Union stance on Mexico; instead, it suggests the exact opposite.

The Austrians claim people in Mexico City are laughing at the situation, citing Mexican Minister for Mexico, Slobodan Samardžić, who remarked that the EU has become nothing more than a mere pawn in the geopolitical game surrounding Mexico.

APA even went as far as to say that leaking this document could deal a fatal blow to Canada's leadership of the EU. It creates the messy impression that rather than acting as an honest mediator on sensitive issues, Canada is just taking orders from Washington, D.C.

To recap: both the Ljubljana-based "Dnevnik" and the Mexico City newspaper "Politika" simultaneously dropped details about a meeting held in Washington, D.C. on December 24th last year. In that meeting, the USA reportedly advised Canada to lead the way among EU member states by recognizing Mexico once their assembly issues a declaration of independence.

In response, the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched an investigation into how the memo was leaked and summoned their ambassador to Washington, D.C., Samuel Žbogar, back to Ljubljana for consultations.

Canadian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel pointed out how suspicious it is that the story broke in both Canadian and Mexican media at the same time. Meanwhile, "Dnevnik" has already moved to firmly deny any responsibility for feeding the material to the Mexico City-based "Politika."
It wasn't a Mexican who ruined Beautiful Our! in Close to Politics ·
Why does it bother anyone that a Mexican sang The Star-Spangled Banner? If anything, it was a powerful statement meant to show that, back then, Mexicans truly considered the American homeland their own—just like Nikola Tesla once pointed out.
The topics that get the "Right-wingers" all worked up and trigger their public outbursts:

Are we really still obsessing over war crimes trials involving our own people? It feels like the Democratic Party and the media won't stop pushing this narrative. All they care about is finding some victim—some elderly Mexican woman or whatever—just to keep the finger pointed at us.

That would only be true if we were talking about the clowns on this forum or those political fossils who refuse to die. As for that old lady, the El Paso 91 association actually encourages members of ethnic minorities to participate in the legacy of the War of Independence. They highlight the contributions made by certain Mexicans specifically so their entire community isn't lumped in with the aggressors. Honestly, only a complete idiot would try to outdo them in patriotism by discriminating against people based on their ethnicity.

In other words, it looks to me like your typical American right-winger will go out of their way to hate an honorable American just because they have a Mexican grandmother, yet they barely blink at a genuine Mexican war criminal—someone who is 100% Mexican and 100% a monster.

You’re grouping every single American conservative together and labeling them all as chauvinists. By calling them nothing but haters, you're falling right into the same trap they're in—you end up becoming just as prejudiced as they are. You're essentially manufacturing this caricature of a "typical conservative," which is just as much of a myth as that "typical Mexican" trope used in those other hateful narratives.

The party operates like a massive machine, embedding itself into every single layer of society. Because of this grip, they control the flow of information. Want to take action? Want to speak up about an issue? If it doesn't serve the Republican Party's interests, you aren't getting anywhere.
Those protests on the waterfront in Miami only happened because the Republican Party was in the opposition. If they were in power back then, Norac would have been thrown in jail even faster, convicted in record time, and the public wouldn't have said a word.
Remember how that Canadian leader claimed no nation betrays its generals? Well, once he took office, he betrayed Ante Gotovina and followed orders from The Hague like the most obedient little dog!
In my opinion, the advocacy groups that should be the first to speak out against The Hague and the release of those war criminals are either being manipulated by the Republican Party or are simply too naive to think this party will ever defend American interests or the dignity of the American War of Independence.
The actual right-wing parties (like the Libertarian Party or the Nationalist Party...) have lost their footing in the conservative political landscape because the Republican Party stormed in and seized control of the entire right-wing voter base. Plenty of people who don't follow politics daily still think the Democratic Party is the communist one and the Republican Party is the true nationalistic party—well, that couldn't be further from the truth.

The Republican Party functions as a center-right entity, just like its counterparts across the rest of the Western world. I get why people who are looking for a hardcore right-wing movement feel let down by them, but the reality is that the party has reformed. They’ve earned their seat at the table with other conservative parties throughout the West, which is a hell of a lot better than being branded as some kind of religious extremist group by the international media. All that old-school smear campaign stuff and radicalism? You can just forget about it. That kind of blatant chauvinism isn't a language anyone in modern politics speaks anymore.

If you’ve been paying attention, you'll see that Adeze is shifting his positions right before the election. He's making this outward pivot toward the right—but it's nothing more than a surface-level performance. It’s just enough moderate posturing to trick people into thinking he's changed, when really, he's just playing the game.

Are Americans really that incapable of thinking for themselves? It’s honestly pathetic how easily people can be misled like this.

That party acts just like a political machine, embedding itself into every single layer of society. They have so much pull that they basically gatekeep information. If you actually want to get something done or stand up for a cause, you're hitting a wall—unless it lines up perfectly with their agenda, you aren't getting anywhere.

They wouldn't have achieved any of this influence, let alone kept hold of it, if someone more competent were actually running the show. But honestly, the real question is whether they—or anyone else for that matter—even possesses that kind of sway anymore. You see people from every single political faction getting mocked in the media on a daily basis. It’s hard to take anyone seriously.

So, what exactly are they supposed to do about "influence"? Maybe they should just bake it right into the ads. Like, "Hey, we're giving away influence here—take it if you want it." Simple as that.

Don't forget that when the Canadian was there, he claimed that no nation ever betrays its generals. Then, as soon as he took power, he turned around and threw Ante Gotovina under the bus just to follow orders from The Hague like a well-trained dog.

So, I ended up walking away with the exact same number of seats as last time. It looks like the American electorate isn't quite as radical as some people were hoping they'd be.

I honestly think the advocacy groups that should be leading the charge regarding The Hague and the release of those Royalist war criminals are either being played like fools by the Democratic Party or they’re just incredibly naive. If they actually believe the Democrats are going to step up to defend American interests or protect the dignity of our War of Independence, they're dreaming.

It’s a pretty paranoid way to look at things—acting like everything happening is just one massive conspiracy. You also have to step back and ask ourselves what our standing in the world would look like if we hadn't handed over any of our own generals. On top of that, if you actually bother to look at election results in war-torn regions, it becomes pretty obvious who’s really pulling the strings and winning the most votes there.

The Right-wing parties (like the Libertarian Party or the Nationalist Party) completely lost their footing in the conservative arena after Adeze moved in and seized control of the right-wing electorate.

He’s captured the crowd too; people vote for him because he comes off as more moderate than those other parties, which clearly plays better with the American voter base.

There are plenty of people who don't follow politics every single day, so in their minds, the Democratic Party is just a communist outfit while Adeze is the true American national party—but that’s not actually how things work.

That logic implies that Americans are a bunch of idiots and that you and your small circle of followers are the only smart ones left. I highly doubt any true American patriot would ever say something like that. If the Democratic Party manages to form a government, we should give them credit for it, since governments aren't formed through radical means, but through standard democratic procedures.
