Hey everyone,
I’ve got an SSD and an HDD in my rig. I wanted to move my Downloads and desktop folders off the SSD and onto the HDD to save space, but I managed to screw up. While trying to move the desktop, I accidentally pointed it to the Downloads folder. Now Windows 10 thinks they’re the exact same thing (check this out:

The obvious fix would be to just point the desktop back to its own spot, but the two are stuck together now. Every time I try to move the desktop to a new location, it drags the Downloads folder right along with it.
Here’s the breakdown:
Right now, they look like this:
Desktop: D:\User\Downloads
Downloads: D:\User\Downloads
If I try changing the desktop to D:\User\Desktop, this happens:
Desktop: D:\User\Desktop
Downloads: D:\User\Desktop
Anyone have a clue how I can unstick these and get them back into separate folders?
Hey,
I'm looking for some build suggestions.
I need a budget-friendly setup just for office work—nothing crazy, just browsing the web and running Microsoft Office.
The only real requirement is that it has a USB 3.0 port.
Cheers,
Hey everyone!
Got a weird issue with some new speakers. Every time I plug them into my PC, they start making this faint buzzing and whistling sound in the background—kind of like when your phone starts ringing right next to a speaker.
Since these are just some cheap MS Industrial speakers, I figured it was them, but they sound totally fine when I plug them into my laptop or my phone...
Just to be clear, the noise happens whether I use the front jack or the back port. It’s a new build running an ASUS FM2A75-HD+ motherboard with integrated audio.
Anyone have any clue what's causing the interference?
I don't know, some guy from overseas probably... anyone know where I can actually find these connectors? Scoured eBay but none of them are what I'm looking for...
So both my fan and my power supply have these exact connectors

They just won't plug in together...
So, my M-Tech case just showed up, but since I’ve never actually built a PC before, I’m a little stuck. It came with a front fan, but the power plug looks identical to the one coming off my power supply, so I have no clue how to hook this thing up.
What do you think makes a case actually good? Why isn't this one cutting it? I basically picked this one just because it looks cool... is there anything specific I should be looking out for when picking a chassis?
Hey there!
I was wondering if I could fit a Micro-ATX motherboard in this case:
The description says ATX, but I noticed none of the cases on Best Buy's site actually specify Micro-ATX. Is it just safe to assume that if an ATX case works, then Micro-ATX will too?
Fair enough, I'll just grab one burner then. I was thinking since I've already got two sitting in my old rig, I'd just pick up a new one and swap an old one over to the new build. But clearly, that's not happening...
So, you're saying none of these new motherboards even have a PATA port?
Is everyone seriously using SATA cables now? I was just planning on swapping over those two power connectors from my old rig, which uses one of those massive, ancient IDE cables. Is that even going to work?
Hey, quick question. I was thinking about hooking up two DVD/CD drives at once. Since this is my first time playing "mad scientist" with a custom PC build, does the motherboard type actually dictate whether I can run two optical drives?
From what I've been digging up online, I figured this board might work:
ASRock FM2A75M HD+
So, could I plug two drives into that one? And if not, would they work on the ASRock FM2A88M EXTREME4+ you guys suggested earlier?
Thanks!
Look, I don't need a top-tier beast since I'm not a hardcore gamer... my budget is sitting around 2500-$1000
Mostly, I'll just be using this rig to browse the web, but I'd love to actually play some decent titles over the holidays...
Would that VTX be enough for me, considering I won't be running it 24/7 like some people do? 😬
Actually, I’ve got one more question for you 🙂>
I was just scrolling through some sites looking at prices, and I’m a bit lost on how all these different Radeon card manufacturers actually work...
Is a VTX HD7770 1GB DDR5 basically the same thing as an ASUS HD7770 or an MSI HD7770??
sweet, thanks a ton everyone!!
Thanks a ton for this. Just one thing—this motherboard is a bit pricier, and honestly, I’m not seeing the difference. Can you break down why it’s actually better?
Decided to dive into my first DIY PC build. Could someone take a look at this parts list and let me know if I'm on the right track? Also, I'm totally lost on what power supply to pick for this setup:

I've got a Zaba fan and I read they offer
covering travel costs for relatives visiting the US up to $300 and
lodging for those relatives up to $300
So, if my sister flies in from overseas, does that mean I actually get $300 for her flight plus $300 for her stay? And we can do this every single year?? 🤷🤷
Seems a bit too good to be true. What’s the catch here? I don't really get it. 🤷
Thinking about picking up some wireless headphones, but since I'll be wearing them for maybe 2 to 4 hours a day, I’m wondering if that wireless signal actually does anything to your brain with them sitting right there? Thanks in advance!
I’d just grab a new one. $67 Considering my old unit clocked in at 40,000 pages, or $233 if I'm looking at a brand-new model, it's a no-brainer. 40k pages is a lot—that thing is basically held together by prayers at this point. Most printers usually tap out around the 30,000 mark anyway.
