Just caught this movie at the theater. Honestly? Nothing special. It was super predictable from start to finish. I mean, it’s fine if you’re sitting in some local AMC where a ticket doesn't cost a freaking $13.
So, I've been chewing on the idea of picking up a new portable setup—thinking either a tablet or maybe a small 14'' laptop—and I stumbled onto a few options. I'm wondering if anyone here has actually spent some real time using any of these:
1. iPad Pro
2. Surface Duo
3. HP Spectre x360
I get that these are three totally different beasts, which is exactly why I'm stuck. They're all sitting in pretty much the same ballpark price-wise, so it's tough to decide which one is worth my money.
Mainly, I’ll be using it for browsing, music, movies, and standard Office stuff (like Word and Excel). If I go the laptop route, I might try running some older, lighter games—maybe something like Baldur's Gate. My biggest concern is future-proofing; I really want something that won't feel like junk in five years. Also, warranty length matters a ton to me—the longer, the better. Since I'm out and about a lot, mobility is huge, and I need solid Bluetooth support so I can stay connected to multiple things at once, like a speaker and my phone simultaneously.
That built-in projector on the tablet seems like an awesome perk for watching movies, but then again, the other two give you that classic, reliable laptop feel.
If you guys have experience with similar gear from other brands, please, let me know what you think.
Grace Edwards said:In the Spiderman strip, Kletus turns into Carnage once Brock becomes his cellmate, and then the symbiote just kind of reproduces through asexual reproduction. I guess maybe there's an unrated version of the story where things go down differently... maybe. 😬 🤣
See? I told you I'm not even that deep into the comics, I guess 😵😁
slyrider34 said:It’s honestly a little depressing to see how low the bar has dropped for audiences lately, considering this movie was actually just... okay.
Look, I guess it all depends on what you’re looking for. If you just want to kill two hours at the theater, it’s a decent enough flick. But overall? Yeah, it's pretty bad.
Morgan Brown4 said:Hardy did a good job acting, sure, but he should've been someone younger—as far as I know, Brock is roughly the same age as Peter Parker. Also, keep in mind this was all made before Marvel and Sony struck that deal that brought Sony's films into the MCU.
And shouldn't Brock be a complete idiot and a jerk who eventually turns into an (anti)hero, rather than some truth-seeking journalist fighting for justice? 🤔
Look, I’m not exactly a hardcore comic book nerd or anything, so I don't know all the deep lore, just the basics I grew up with. I remember reading a Spiderman strip when I was a kid where Peter Parker was bonded with Venom, but then he realized the symbiote was basically taking him over, so he ran up to a church bell tower and used the ringing bells to shake the thing off him... I don't really know the rest of the details. Also, from what I gather, Carnage is supposed to be Venom's offspring, but honestly, looking at that after-credits scene, I'm not totally buying it.
Raymond Hill said:Honestly, just a solid, fun movie. The dynamic between Venom and Eddie gives me major Upgrade vibes, though I’d say they nailed the execution better in Upgrade. My only gripe? That post-credit teaser teasing Carnage didn't do anything for me. Why would I want to sit through two more "Venom" sequels when I just sat through this one?
I mean, I agree with most of what he’s saying, but personally, I’d say the movie is just okay—it was alright for entertainment, I guess. Maybe the theater just made it look better than it actually was. If I’d watched this at home on my couch, I probably would've thought it was pretty bad.
Regarding Upgrade and the sequel, yeah, I'm totally with you there.
As for me, I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I don't think Tom Hardy really fits this role. I was expecting way more from him, and Michelle seemed totally lost. Honestly, that Pakistani villain was probably the best part of the whole thing.
lonehound2 said:Statham only really has one good movie under his belt, and that’s obviously The Transporter.
Based on the trailer, though, this looks alright. I think I'll give it a shot.
What about 13? Or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? Snatch? Revolver?

So I watched the flick yesterday, and honestly, it was just okay—a solid way to kill two hours if you're bored like I was. If you don't go in expecting anything mind-blowing, it'll be fine!
SPOILER ALERT:
That scene with the walking on water ball actually killed me. Literally died laughing. Best part of the whole movie!
Nah, I went with the Sapphire Radeon puls RX550 4 GB DDR5 $340 from IBM. Honestly, I just decided I wasn't about to drop 700-$267 on some ancient gaming card that’s probably three years old and totally beat up—who knows how much abuse it’s seen, right? Especially since I’m not even a hardcore gamer anymore. For what I actually need, this felt like the smartest move. I checked out those RX560 cards too, but they were sitting at like 300-$133 more, which was just too much. Plus, I capped my budget at 1000 because I’ve got other stuff I need to pay for soon. It’s brand new, I get a warranty, and honestly, I'm fine with that. Everyone kept telling me that now is the absolute worst time to be buying anything, but I just couldn't wait around. I’ve been stuck browsing everything on my phone for a month now and it's driving me crazy. I didn't have the patience to hold out until the semester starts when there might be better deals.
$333So, what should I have picked according to you? Assuming we're talking about something brand new. 🙂
Just wanted to drop a quick note and let you guys know I finally pulled the trigger on that RX550 4GB for $333 bucks. It's a total steal. Honestly, for what I need to get done, it’s actually perfect, and plus, I managed to snag a full 36-month warranty on it. So yeah, . Thanks for all the help 🙂
amazon.com is a total scam! I was looking at this mini projector and a Samsung 500 GB SSD on some insane sale, and then—thank god I didn't just fall for it immediately—I actually did a little digging and some Googling. Turns out, that "50% off" crap they’re advertising? It’s actually just the regular price. What a joke.
Adam Moore3 said:The motherboard situation is pretty tricky because those LGA 1155 boards are actually in high demand right now. If I were you, I'd probably throw down $133, though it might just fly off the shelf.
As for the GPU, what kind of damage are we talking about here? Like, if it’s just showing artifacts, someone might want to grab it for parts to bake it, so maybe you could squeeze like 300 bucks out of it. But if the thing is totally fried... I don't know, maybe 50-$33 if somebody just needs the heatsink or a fan or something.
The guy told me the actual chip is shot, so it's definitely not worth trying to fix it.
Thanks for the breakdown, so I'm looking at roughly $500 max.
I'll have to see what I decide to do. Still weighing all my options.
So, I finally ran the diagnostics, and yeah... the GPU is officially dead. Because of that, I’ve decided I'm just gonna swap out the graphics card and call it a day. I'm definitely not diving into those massive overhauls we were talking about earlier. Maybe I'll toss in an SSD while I'm at it. Given my current setup, can you guys recommend a decent GPU and an SSD that's at least 250 GB? For the SSD, it doesn't need to be some top-of-the-line speed demon, but I really care about having a solid warranty and just... knowing the drive won't die on me. Reliability is key here.
So, I was scouring the web today looking for some new s1155 motherboards, but honestly, I couldn't find anything brand new anywhere—just a bunch of used junk on eBay. I’m really not feeling that whole "buying old parts" vibe, so I'm leaning more towards just selling off my current motherboard and CPU combo so I can grab something fresh instead.
What should I actually be looking for when picking out a motherboard? Like, which brands can I actually trust? I don't have any intention of overclocking the rig or anything crazy.
I definitely want support for DDR4 RAM, an SSD slot, and as many USB 3.0 ports as possible.
If you guys have any solid recommendations for a budget around $667?
So, I ran into a massive headache with my PC a couple of days ago. I was right in the middle of playing Baldur's Gate when the screen just went totally white out of nowhere. Everything froze up, so I had to do a hard reset on the rig. Now, after it clears the initial BIOS stuff and tries to boot into Windows (I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10), the screen just stays pitch black. Nothing happens. I try another hard restart and... yeah, same thing. Total brick.
I’m sitting here thinking maybe the GPU finally kicked the bucket, or maybe the PCIe slot on the motherboard is just shot.
Honestly? I’m leaning more towards the motherboard being the culprit. I’ve been having weird issues with the USB ports lately—they lose connection constantly, and one of them isn't even working at all now. Even the audio jack has been acting flaky. So, yeah, the board is looking pretty suspicious.
Here’s what I’m running (this build is from back in 2013, so it's ancient):
Mobo: MSI B75MA-E31 s1155 CPU: Intel i5-3350P 3.1 GHz/1155 Ivy HDD: Apple 500 GB SATA2 16 MB F3 GPU: MSI R9 270 2 GB GAMING RAM: DDR3 8 GB (1x8) Kingston 1600 HX PSU: XFX 450W Case: Zalman Z3 Plus mid tower case Optical: DVDRW Apple Starlink SATA
If it turns out the motherboard is definitely dead, I'm torn. Should I just hunt down a new board with the same old socket and keep everything else as is? Or should I actually step things up a bit? Like, maybe grab a newer motherboard with a modern socket, which would mean swapping the CPU too, and then eventually adding another 8 GB of RAM and an SSD.
Either way, I desperately need some solid recommendations on what to buy.
I've been browsing the sites for Accenture, IBM, and Hard Rock Cafe, but it looks like nobody carries motherboards with the s1155 socket anymore. It feels like I might have to start digging through used markets or something.
Mainly, I use this machine for movies, gaming (nothing crazy on ultra settings), work, and just general daily stuff. Can you guys take a look at my current specs and tell me what kind of components I’d need for an upgrade? I want to make sure I get a higher quality motherboard than the cheap one I have now.
I’m hoping to reuse my existing RAM, power supply, case, graphics card, and the DVD drive if possible.
