Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Patrick Morris6 said:Hey there! Does anyone have any photo or video recs? Also, what kind of pricing are we looking at lately?
Anyone have experience with the meal plans—like the ones at Union Station?
Is Band 100%? 😁
Thanks!

The Hilton is actually a solid pick..🙂 I stayed there this past summer for a wedding.. the food was excellent, the staff went out of their way to be helpful, and they didn't skimp on anything when it came to the spread...👍

Listen, ladies... I honestly don't know what else to say at this point, but I am officially hitting a wall with this whole band search...🙂 First, I reached out to The Beach Boys, but apparently, they aren't booking any gigs for 2014. Then, I got in touch with Mailchimp, only to have someone tell me today that one of their associates already booked a wedding for our exact date in the meantime—and we had actually spoken about setting up a meeting just a week and a half ago.🙂
Does anyone have any advice? I’m looking for a local band that features both male and female vocals. I don't want anything that sounds like cheesy polka; I need them to play a mix of international hits and domestic classics, maybe even some folk or coastal styles... 🙂 and they need to be within my $3333 budget... please, I'm begging for some help here... 🙂

Thanks!

I just attended a rehearsal dinner there recently, not an actual wedding. As far as the food goes, it was decent—served hot, and they kept refilling everything throughout the night. I’ll be blunt: they were a little stingy with the portions, but it was fine... you get what you pay for when it comes to the entertainment.🙂 The hall itself is alright, though the tables felt way too cramped, the dance floor was tiny, and the restroom was freezing. Everything else was passable. Honestly, I suspect they might put in more effort for a full wedding than they did for this. 😉

Regarding those bands out of Cleveland—Passage is top-tier, along with Vigor, Blitz, and Quattr... I caught Quattr performing at Jubilee, but I've seen the rest of them live. Passage and Blitz pull off that dynamic mix of male and female vocals, Vigor features Mario Roth, and those guys in Quattr are just absolute legends...🙂 So, here’s how everyone feels about them... I’m still second-guessing my own math because I’ve realized some bands don't actually include the ZAMP fees in their booking price; instead, they expect me to cover that out of pocket, or they claim it's included without ever showing me a receipt proving they actually paid it...🙂

We even caught one of their rehearsals and saw them play at the Old bridge pub in Indianapolis once... and honestly, we’re stoked... 😍 A bunch of people gave us glowing reviews after seeing them play weddings, too. As for the cake—go with Peter Pan... they are hands down the best in the business... the creams are just incredible... Oh, and about those gift vouchers—my husband and I both played the raffle, and neither of us walked away with a single thing... but I’m heading down to Savannah this week to check out dresses at Mirea, so if I find something I love that actually fits my budget, I’ll grab that voucher 😍 if I don't get it sooner, but I'll be in Savannah on Wednesday 😁

If you're into heavy cream cakes, then sure, go for it. But personally? I find almost everything they make a bit too sugary and overloaded with fillings and frostings. 😁 It's just not really my style. 🙂 Everyone has different tastes, obviously. Most people absolutely adore the Ice Wind cake, but for me, it's just too much cream and too much sugar. 🤣 Your best bet is to just head over there and sample them yourself to be certain. 👍

Now, I have a quick question for the group... does anyone here actually have firsthand experience with Stephanie’s Atelier in Indianapolis? Specifically regarding their photography work? I’ve been scrolling through their photos and videos, and honestly, I wasn't exactly blown away. The shots looked pretty mediocre—almost like I could have just grabbed my own digital camera and snapped them myself. As for the video, it was alright, except for the fact that the cameraman’s hands were visibly shaking the whole time. It seems a bit amateurish to me that they weren't even using a stabilizer or a tripod...😢

I was actually at a bridal expo the other day, and I came across this couple who specializes in cakes. Honestly, they were impressive—everything was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can just show them a photo of what you want and they’ll replicate it perfectly, right down to the flavor profile. Or, if you prefer, you can just tell them what flavors you love and let them work their magic. Their website is www.kolacic-osijek.com, located over on Sljemenska 123. Between them and Grandma’s Recipe, they're my go-to choices.🙂 Hope that helps you out.🙂
Also, sending lots of love and a massive thank you to placidcobra84, because she was the one who recommended the doctor to me. It turns out he is exactly the kind of professional she described...🎉
Listen, ladies, I thought I’d jump in here and share a quick update...🙂 I had my consultation this past Saturday with Dr. Raguž at the Holy Spirit clinic, and honestly, I am beyond thrilled with how it went. 😍 He spent about ten minutes doing the actual exam, asking all the right questions, and then we spent another ten minutes just chatting about my vision for the nose. He showed me several before-and-after photos, and I really respect his approach. Every single nose looked perfectly integrated with the face—like they were custom-built for those specific features. That’s exactly what I’m looking for; I can't stand those tiny, pinched-looking noses that look like they were stamped out of a mold. 😁
What impressed me most, though, was seeing the recovery shots. The patients photographed nine days post-op didn't have any dark bruising under their eyes—just a little bit of swelling. It’s a huge relief to know I won't be hiding indoors for two months because I'm too self-conscious to face the public. 🤣
As it turns out, I have a severe septal deviation along with some kyphosis caused by a childhood injury where I broke my nose. The doctor actually made a joke about how he doesn't even know how I manage to breathe at all... 😁
Anyway, the doctor is fantastic—young, approachable, and easy to talk to—and the nursing staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. So, the plan is to meet with him again on May 31st to get the full list of required tests, and the surgery itself is scheduled for July 8th. That's the latest from my end...😉
Fine then, because I honestly have no idea how she’d even manage to prove all of that at this stage... 😁 what kind of exam are we talking about? What exactly does it entail? haha, such loaded questions... 🤣
Ladies, I have my first appointment scheduled with Dr. Raguž on September 12th.
Can anyone walk me through what I actually need to bring? Specifically, I have the referral for a full examination, but should I be prepping anything else? I haven't gone out and grabbed any lab results yet.
Also, how does the actual exam go? Like, what’s the standard procedure once I'm in the room?
placidcobra842 said:Getting an appointment there can be a bit of a hurdle. I actually coordinated my exam through his secretary, so you won't waste your trip once it's set. Here’s the number: 01 3712036. They hold exams on Fridays, and from what I gather, he is truly the best in the business for this kind of thing, by the Holy Spirit. He's a younger doctor, so he's approachable—you can ask him just about anything.

Regardless, I think it would be wise to make the trip one day to meet with the doctor in person for an exam and a real conversation. I’d probably start by calling ahead to see when they could squeeze me in for that consultation, and just go from there...
@placidcobra842/">@@placidcobra842: Just stay with us and keep us posted on how things are going..🙂 We’re all crossing our fingers that you make a full recovery very soon..🙂
How did you manage to get ahold of Dr. Raguž? I’m currently stuck in OS, so dropping by the office to see the doctor feels a bit awkward right now. I'd much rather try reaching him over the phone or via email if possible...
Donna Johnson16 said:Don't sweat it too much; in most cases, those bruises fade within two weeks. It really just depends on your age, your general health, how quickly your body heals, and the scale of the procedure itself—but we're talking three weeks at the absolute maximum. Swelling tends to linger longer, though it isn't nearly as noticeable, especially to someone seeing you for the first time.

...

Oh man, thank you so much, Donna Johnson16, that’s such a relief to hear...🙂 I just really hope these bruises don't stick around forever...😁
Does anyone happen to know the best way to get in touch with Dr. Poje regarding the rib? I sent him an email a few days ago, but I haven't heard a peep back yet...🤷
Haha, they won't be able to pull any fast ones on me regarding the changes because that’s when they'll actually see me for the first time... XD I mean, my first day teaching at that school isn't even happening until a month and a half after the surgery is over. My only real concern right now is the bruising. I just want to make sure it's not too obvious—I don't need everyone thinking someone went and jumped me... XD
haha, I wasn't exactly envisioning such a radical transformation..XD ugh.. let's just hope for the best...🙂 I sent an email to Dr. Raguž over at Rib to see when I could swing by for an exam... I've heard nothing but great things about him—supposedly he's incredibly approachable and really knows his stuff...🙂
Hey everyone, I have a question for you all... if I schedule my surgery for September 7th, but decide to go for some minor aesthetic touch-ups around mid-July next year, will the swelling actually subside enough by the time September rolls around? I need everything to look relatively normal by the start of the school year when I head back to work. That gives me maybe a month and a half for recovery... I just don't want my students giving me a hard time about it. -.-

I grew up in that area, so I know the layout well. TGI Fridays is a great choice, too. In fact, I was at a wedding there on August 4th and the service was absolutely phenomenal!!!!!

Haha, yeah, TGI Fridays...🙂 the guys there are seriously awesome and I’m about 99% sure we’re going with them... they just haven't replied to my email yet, so I’ll have to give them a ring...🙂
As for the venue, we’re heading out to check it out in early October so we can compare the pricing between Jane and Ted... but honestly, I had a pretty rough experience over at Jane's, so I'm leaning towards booking Ted... everyone I know who has used them has nothing but good things to say...😉
Aha... I mean, that was my main concern too, but if I’m going to get hit in the face anyway, I figured I might as well deal with the consequences all at once...🙂

By the way, does anyone here have any firsthand experience with the Unknown clinic?
Sam Kim12, any chance you could share some before and after photos if you have them? Also, is that doctor strictly an ENT, or do they specialize in aesthetics too? thanks...😉
