I never imagined I’d be the type to open a thread like this, but I feel like I’m at a total loss and just need to reach out.
Last night was perfectly routine; I showered, hopped into bed, scrolled through my phone, watched some movies, and finally drifted off somewhere around 2:50 or 3:00 AM. Everything felt normal. Then, around 4:00 AM, I woke up feeling completely intoxicated, like I was stumbling through a fog, and I could barely move—I literally couldn't even find the strength to flick on the bedside lamp.
By around half past 6, I tried to get up, but it was just impossible. Once I finally managed to force myself upright, I realized things were still seriously wrong because I had zero sensation in my limbs; there was this intense tingling all over my body, especially in my hands and feet, particularly my fingers, and even in my head. My sense of touch is almost nonexistent right now, and I'm actually shaking while I type this. It was the same thing earlier in the night when I tried to pull the covers up—in the dark, it felt like an impossible mission because I couldn't even feel the blanket or coordinate my arms and legs to move it. It wasn't until I turned the light on and saw that I was actually holding the blanket that everything suddenly seemed to snap back into place. It's the same deal when I try to scratch myself—I feel nothing. If I reach out to touch something or if someone tries to touch me, it's like a zero on the sensation scale. Even picking up a small object feels incredibly difficult because I can barely perceive it in my hands.
At first, I thought maybe I had just pinched a nerve, but since this has been dragging on from 4:00 AM until right now, I don't think it's just a simple nerve issue, as that usually would have passed by now.
To make matters worse, whenever I lie down in bed or try to stay in a flat position, the situation becomes ten times more intense because I find myself completely unable to move, feeling absolutely nothing in my arms or legs.
I’m 26 years old and I've never dealt with any symptoms or signs of illness in my life.
What on earth happened to me in the middle of the night, and could this potentially be the start of Parkinson's disease? I have a doctor's appointment this Tuesday, but honestly, these last five days have felt like five long years. I'm writing this post exactly as it comes to me, though unfortunately, words can't truly capture how terrifying this really feels.
If anyone else has gone through anything remotely similar, I would be so grateful if you could share how things progressed for you.
Thanks in advance.
