Democratic Party directors in Movies ·
Miike would probably just beat them all senseless 🙂

And honestly... I don't think releasing one film a year NECESSARILY means the quality has to plummet. Then again, none of the directors you listed actually maintain any level of consistency anyway.

I personally believe that how often someone shoots has nothing to do with the quality of the work—you see this most clearly with Allen. He used to churn out movies roughly once a year, sometimes even two at a time; now, he’s basically just making postcards once a year. 🙂

As for the Coens, it’s truly a hit-or-miss situation, regardless of their output frequency. You saw how they bounced back with an incredible film right after that Ladykillers nonsense, only to turn around and embarrass themselves with yet another remake 😢 ...I mean, I know the movie isn't total garbage, and it brought them plenty of success, but they compromised their artistic integrity in the process.

I appreciate your input as well, 👍

Noah Sanchez39 said:1) Reverting back to Windows XP isn't going to do anything to extend your laptop's battery life.

Well, obviously, but that wasn't even the point here. 🙂
The actual question was whether Windows XP would drain the battery just as much, less, or more over the course of a week.

2) Configure the function keys via the BIOS.

Fine, I suppose I'll give that a shot. 👍

Wait, aren't we talking about the Dell Inspiron N5010 or the N7010 laptop here?

Yes, that's exactly the laptop in question.

So, the real question remains: will I actually get better battery life if I stick with Windows XP?

As for functionality, I believe I've already made it quite clear—and perhaps even illustrated—that I don't have an option for a 'function key row.'

Moving on... how exactly am I supposed to toggle the function keys when the multimedia buttons are currently taking priority?

The instructions suggest opening the Windows mobility center to fix this, but for some reason, I don't see any option for a 'function key row' listed there. 😢

All I’m seeing is this:

I installed Windows 7 yesterday, and honestly, I’m pretty happy with it so far. 👍

By the way, does anyone know if my battery life would actually improve if I rolled back to Windows XP instead of sticking with 7?

Right now, I’m only getting about two and a half hours out of it.

The machine is a Dell Inspiron N5010 with 2GB of RAM and a P6200 processor.

graniteheron132 said:That movie was killer. Super weird, totally brutal... I really vibed with it. 🙂 Stop Crime !!! 🙂

But man, the way Ebert connected that film to 🤣 🤣 was just pure moron move.

Well, that's what happens when you insist on reading a Roosevelt review before actually watching the film instead of just checking the star rating.🙂

Nicole Rogers5 said:But when does he actually become a hero? He spends the entire movie getting absolutely wrecked. I mean, even McLovin beats the hell out of him by the end.

You've got a point there... that's why Kick-Ass needs someone like Hit-Girl to balance things out—this little girl who can carry a 50-pound mattress without breaking a sweat. But even she goes overboard, killing way too many people and somehow surviving an endless cycle of beatings, falls, and gunshot wounds. She’s the actual hero here.

But you won't find anyone like that in the Superman movies.

Sandra White10 said:Kick-Ass was just way better than this one. Honestly, Super felt totally bizarre—almost borderline psychotic, if you think about it—since he was just out there bashing people in the streets for basically no reason at all.

Kick-Ass is about a guy who tries to be a super hero even though he isn't, and then somehow actually becomes one.

whereas Super is about a guy who tries to be a super hero even though he isn't, and then fails to ever become one.

Thanks for the reminder; I had completely lost track of this movie 👍

It's already right here in this thread.

George "The Spoiler" Pavičić goes on a ruthless tear spoiling the cult classic "Przypadek" by Christopher Kieślowski, followed by a slightly less savage takedown of Jaca van Dormel's "Mr. Nobody." 😁

(Luckily, I’d already seen both, so I could just sit back and enjoy the carnage without any actual spoilers getting to me! 😁)

Mark Wood12 said:If you set aside the spoilers, this article actually isn't half bad. You can tell some actual effort went into it. I don't see any glaring errors, and it doesn't come across as mindless or primitive. So why does he insist on acting this way every single time?

ha, he even spoiled Kieslowski 🙂

Mark Wood79 said:A good portion of you on this forum seem hell-bent on insisting that Pavicic ruined the movie, claiming—for the hundredth time now—that he completely botched it or that facts are simply foreign concepts to him. And yet, despite all this relentless complaining, you still find yourselves reading his reviews. 🤷

It's the truth. Honestly, it makes you wonder who’s actually the bigger fool here: George or the readers.

Well, I suppose they'll have to get used to sex eventually, too.
Have you ever lied about seeing a movie? in Movies ·
1. No, because I was the one who actually watched it; everyone else is just guessing because they haven't seen it. 🙂

2. No.
Billy Wilder in Movies ·
I have a deep appreciation for Billy Wilder, but even with a heavy hitter like Sunset Boulevard, it doesn't quite reach the heights of Double Indemnity, Witness for the Prosecution, or Ace in the Hole. I recall thinking that final scene—that descent down the stairs—was a bit much.

One, Two, Three is also a bit over the top, as is Irma la Douce.

Pure comedy. Absolute law.

And let’s not forget... 'he's pretty heavy for half a guy.'🙏
The Irishman (2011) in Movies ·
Taylor Brown said:Watched it last night. It wasn't exactly a masterpiece—it certainly could have landed much harder—but I suppose it is what it is. Still, there's something to be said for the fact that it’s based on a true story. That alone kept me from turning it off. 😁

What does "based on a true story" even matter here? It’s a binary equation: either the film is well-made, or it isn't. Everything else is just noise. 🙂
