Angela Wright, I am so incredibly sorry. Please accept my deepest condolences. I know there aren't any words that can make this better right now, but I truly believe you've gained a guardian angel up there. Hang in there!
feralsurfer72, I'm with Richard Sanders7 on this one. Honestly, they need to go get a second opinion. Sending nothing but strength to everyone fighting these illnesses and their families—I hope the pain and struggle stay as minimal as possible. I know how it feels; that sense of total helplessness just eats you alive.
feralsurfer72, I feel you. Honestly, I don't even know what to say—it sucks that you're basically on your own through this. Just try to get some sleep before you crash and get sick too. Hang in there! Your dad has to be incredibly proud of you. Wishing you guys nothing but the best in this fight. And man, our healthcare system is a total joke, honestly, thank God for the rare exceptions.
feralsurfer72, how's your old man doing? Hope he's feeling even a little bit better.
Hey >, just so you know, there's an oncologist over in Chicago who does chemo privately. It's pretty pricey, but yeah, just wanted to give you the heads up.
feralsurfer72, as far as I know, he's eligible for home health nursing. Just tell him to call his primary care doctor at the clinic. Hopefully things settle down for his dad.
feralsurfer72, I’d either call 911 or just ring the unit where my dad was staying. If things aren't critical yet, they can turn south fast. This whole situation isn't sitting right with me.
Maria Howard70, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I know there aren't any words that can actually make this better right now, just hang in there...
@Carl Kern66, Megostat is great if you need to kickstart an appetite. It works right along with the recipe.
feralsurfer72, sent you a DM. How’s your old man doing?
Hey feralsurfer72, I know things are rough for everyone right now, but your dad’s got it the hardest. Just keep being there for him like you always have. I know he’s gonna drive you all crazy a hundred more times, but try to bear with him—he’s just trying to get back to how things used to be. Tell him to take it easy, but if he wants to go for a walk, let him. It won't hurt his recovery, and honestly, it'll probably help his head space. Better than him just lying around letting depression win. Hang in there!
Hey feralsurfer72, really sorry to hear the findings aren't better news. My dad went through it too—bile duct cancer with liver and duodenum metastases, and his pancreas was likely hit as well. They told me the exact same thing about chemo not being an option. I even took him to see a private specialist, Dr. Miller, who felt the same way, though he suggested trying some milder therapy. But honestly, my dad’s condition just spiraled so fast we never even got to that point. That doctor is great, just pretty pricey. Sending all the strength to your dad in fighting this bastard.
feralsurfer72, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis. It’s brutal, and I know you're going through absolute hell right now—I've been there myself. Just hang in there and try to find some strength; you’re both going to need it for the fight ahead. No matter how bad the prognosis looks, there's always something you can do to make things easier for him, because they're the ones really suffering. Just stay by his side and give him all the love you've got. Wishing you guys nothing but luck with the treatment and hoping he stays out of pain.
hollowridge88, it’s seriously pathetic how that doctor acted. I’m actually speechless at that kind of behavior. I know you're going through it right now—honestly, I've been there myself. It sucks watching someone you love suffer when you feel totally helpless. Trying to convince them everything is fine is the hardest part, and just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes... I think your little white lie is justified; sick people just need to hear those words. They're the ones struggling most, and a few kind words can actually give them strength. Should you get a second opinion from another doctor? Sometimes you have to be pushy, maybe even a little rude, if that's what it takes to get things moving. I really hope your mom's condition improves soon, and hang in there—you're gonna need all the strength you can get.
Hey Austin Miller72, glad to hear your mom is feeling better. Sending you guys nothing but strength while you deal with that absolute bastard.
hollowridge88 and I are on the same page as silvercanyon7—it’s totally possible that all that coughing and vomiting is just a side effect of such a heavy illness. I feel so bad that you guys are going through this. Honestly, they need to find something to make Mom more comfortable. Talk to the doctors; there’s gotta be something they can do to help her out. I know how brutal this is for you, and I'm thinking of you guys.
hey hollowridge88, honestly so sorry things are going so bad over there. forgive me for asking, but what is your mom actually dealing with? I really don't know what to tell you regarding the pain, but I remember someone else posting here saying they should give her something at the hospital (I think they mentioned anesthesiologists) so she doesn't have to suffer like this. for those blue arms when they draw blood, ask the pharmacist for a cream; I had that exact issue before and they gave me something that actually helped. I think the cream was called Heparin. sending you guys so much strength through this fight, and I hope your mom's pain eases up soon.
Austin Miller72, sent you a DM
Austin Miller72, man, I'm so sorry to hear your mom is going through it. I don't know much about this stuff, but I'm guessing it's just the chemo kicking in—she'll probably feel better in a few days. Hopefully someone here with more experience can chime in. Sending you guys strength, hope everything turns out okay.
Hey Eurydice, I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this crap. It’s a rough situation, but I know people who have successfully fought this diagnosis. I don't know a ton about it myself, but honestly, you should probably get a second opinion from another doctor,
. I know Dr. Cepulic is solid. He runs a private practice, so it's not cheap, but if you can swing it... I really hope you find someone who actually knows their stuff regarding this type of carcinoma. Good luck!
