Hey mistyjackal842, I know this is gonna be rough on you. If you guys can swing it financially, maybe look into hiring someone to help out for a few hours a day. Sorry to pry, but what exactly is your Mom dealing with?
Hey mistyjackal842, I totally get it. Look, don't bother crying—it won't change anything. Just try to pull yourself together because that's the only way you can actually be there for Mom. I really believe things will turn out okay; she's already fought through so much, so she can handle this too. Those blisters you mentioned, could they be Pressure ulcers? You should ask the nurse. I know it sucks right now, but try to stay positive. She needs you to be strong.
My bad, I meant Edward Johnson96
drago, I honestly have zero clue about this stuff. Just try checking out the website for the Jedro association.
Donna Brooks18, I know waiting on those results is brutal, but try to stay positive. Find something to distract yourself—I know, easier said than done, but you don't have much of a choice right now. You even said yourself that you aren't backing down and that you're fighting; sometimes we all have a reservoir of strength we didn't know existed. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out okay! Check back in!
Hey Alex Hayes2, I am so incredibly sorry. I totally get what you're going through because I lost my Dad recently too—just two months after he got his diagnosis. Like you, I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that he's gone. I just really hope they're somewhere better now, and that we'll all see them again someday.
stormyfalcon6, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. It’s honestly hard to find the right words because I know exactly what you’re going through. I recently lost my dad to bladder cancer, too. No matter how much it hurts, we just have to keep pushing forward.
Hey stormytinker4, I am so incredibly sorry. I totally get what you're going through because I lost my dad recently too—just two months after his diagnosis hit. Every single day the void just gets bigger. Honestly, the only thing helping me through is knowing he isn't suffering anymore, just like your dad. I really believe they're in a better place now, watching over us.
My dad was on those too, but he never dealt with side effects like this. Everyone reacts differently, though. Honestly, maybe you should stop giving them to him altogether. I don't want to freak you out, but this could be a direct result of the treatment or just the illness itself. It might not even have anything to do with the pills. What they told me was to start my dad on just one pill a day, and then slowly bump him up to two after about ten days.
Thanks for all the kind words, guys. Honestly, I’m struggling. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that he’s just gone. Just two months ago, he was talking about all these big plans for the future, and now? Nothing. Sometimes it feels like this pain is never going to let up, and every single day just gets harder. How does a disease even work like that—just destroying someone in two months flat? I can't stop spiraling, wondering if there was anything else I could have done. But everyone I talk to says the same thing: with bladder cancer, there’s just no fighting it. There's no help. The only thing keeping me sane is knowing he wasn't in pain. I know you all get it, since this is all I can talk about lately. Life keeps moving, I guess, but a huge part of my heart went with him. He was my rock, the one person I knew I could always lean on. I still can't even look at his stuff without breaking down. I keep expecting him to call... it's just too much right now. You guys are all so brave, but I'm really not. To anyone out there fighting this evil, I hope you win. Sorry for being such a downer, but this is just my reality right now...
Hey everyone, I buried my dad today. It’s been such a blur—only two months since he got his diagnosis (gallbladder cancer with metastases). We didn't even get to chemo, and he wasn't a candidate for surgery, so they just put in a stent. Thankfully, he wasn't in pain, and right up until the end, he was still talking about planting an orchard. He had bouts of confusion, high fevers, and lost his appetite. I tried everything to make him comfortable and grant his every wish. Deep down, I knew the end was coming, but I kept hoping against hope. I knew it would be hard, but nothing prepares you for this... I miss him already, it hurts so much, and I just wish we had more time. I’d give anything just to hug him again, rub his back, or even have him give me one of those angry looks... anything. I haven't been on these forums long, but I've met some truly wonderful and brave people here. I'm rooting for all of you in your fights—don't let them win and stay by your loved ones' side until the very end. My days are just endless grief and tears, but then I try to hold onto the good memories...
Hey, I need some help here. Does anyone know which doctor at Mayo Clinic is the one people talk about? I need to get a second opinion regarding cancer research institute issues. Thanks.
wiredotter75, I'm glad to see you're back on the positive side of things. Honestly, catching your vibe makes me feel like there’s still some hope for my dad too. It ain't over until it's over! Sending nothing but the best vibes to you and everyone else here.
I heard Zofran works wonders for nausea.
Susan Fowler35, my dad went through the exact same thing just last month. I honestly can't just sit here and accept that nothing can be done—I have to at least try. You book an appointment with the specialist over the phone; you can find all his info online. Your sister will give you the full scoop. It’s definitely not cheap, but people told me it's worth every penny. I don't know what else to tell you, but I really need to get his take on this too.
Hey, I’m so sorry things have taken a turn for the worse, but I’m really hoping this is just a temporary setback. Reading through everything you've dealt with, I honestly just admire how much grit you have. Hang in there and don't let them get to you. Miracles happen, so why not you? I live with Crohn's, and at the start, I almost died from internal bleeding. I actually survived that twice in one night—my doctors told me most people wouldn't even make it through once. I guess it just wasn't my time. We have to stay hopeful; that’s what keeps me going for myself and my dad. Sending love to all the fighters and their families! Sometimes it feels like we're carrying an even heavier load than they are.
Quick question here—hopefully someone knows more about this than I do. My dad can't handle Ensure; he says they just don't sit right with him. Are there any other good options out there, or can I give him something else instead?
Hey Susan Fowler35, I’m so sorry to hear your dad is struggling too. Honestly, I’m in the exact same boat as you—just hitting up every lead possible because I’m desperate to find some kind of help for my old man. I actually had some people suggest I book a private consultation with Dr. Miller; apparently, he’s incredible both as a doctor and just as a person. So, I’m heading to his office this Tuesday with all the test results since my dad is in no state to make the trip himself, and we aren't even 100% sure on the diagnosis yet. It’s worth a shot, right? What have we got to lose?
Congrats on the baby! Hope you get back home soon and can finally just relax.
Hey everyone. Like I mentioned before, my dad is fighting gallbladder cancer right now. He’s currently on cycle treatments, carrots, and beta-glucan. I see you guys talking about propolis—any recommendations on which brand is actually good or where I can pick some up? I'd do absolutely anything to help him out. Honestly, reading through all your stories is brutal because it feels like we're all stuck in this same nightmare. One lady told me that when one door closes, another opens, so I'm trying to hang onto that. Sending strength to all of you. Oh, almost forgot—does anyone know anything about Dr. Miller (the oncologist)? I booked an appointment with him to get a second opinion for my dad.
