Ashley Grant66 said:They took them. Icelander Last year? It’s my guilty pleasure—I watch that video whenever it pops up in my feed. 🙂

I'm not watching :/ No clue—honestly, I can't even remember what I was watching or listening to. 😁 Probably too much of this stuff floating around lately anyway.

I gave Tobacco a listen—he’s got moments where he actually hits the mark, but right now? It’s just not working for me. I can't quite decide where I stand.

He’s the guy behind Black Moth Super Rainbow—and more recently, Malibu Ken. All of his projects share this specific, gritty, retro-futuristic synth sound layered with vocoders. It's a very distinct vibe, and honestly? I'm kind of digging it.

A Hero's Death is mediocre—the lyrics aren't terrible, but the presentation is all wrong. It feels like a lukewarm guide rather than an experience. Aidana always looks great, though.

Hmm, that’s how she sounds to me through headphones now, too. But honestly? She was incredible the first dozen times I caught her playing on the radio through studio monitors. Maybe she's just one of those tracks that needs the air of a room to actually breathe. 😁

Blabbermouth versus Lachlan Young—is there even a comparison to be made here? One is a platform built on noise, the other is just... what, exactly? It’s hard to tell which one is more exhausting. ...

I honestly regret that he didn't perform more often—his sets were always far too short, even if they were explosive in quality.

This is entertaining. 😁

Finally—someone actually mentions him. 😁 Lip gloss? Really?

He looks exactly like that guy from Pain of Salvation when he’s playing some character—and honestly, even when he isn't. He also reminds me of that performer from Eurovision.

So, here he is—the guy trying way too hard to be someone he's not. 🤣

Jamie Davis9 said:Personally, I have nothing against capitalism.
I’d just say that much like how socialism used to have a human face back in the old days here, capitalism is doing the same today.
People around here have always complained—way too much, and usually for no reason at all. 🤷

Take me, for example... as a civil servant, I earn a very decent wage for just a few hours of work. I have everything I need, and in a few years, I'll even have a condo in downtown Chicago (an earthquake messed up my math a bit, but that's an act of God, so whatever 😬).
Anyway, I built it all myself. I didn't get a cent from my old man—he was likely just as much of a screw-up as I am. He’s down South, dealing with idiots instead of maintaining his rental properties, eventually leaving whatever is left to his kids.
Because those rentals? You have no idea what a headache they are. Between the tourists and the absolute cowards...
We've always been indifferent to that kind of stuff.
And besides, how are you supposed to teach your own children anything if you serve everything to them on a silver platter?

Regardless, I have everything I need, and I have all the time in the world. I despise the "8+8+8" lifestyle concept—it honestly terrifies me. I spend my life doing exactly what I want to do.
But look at the US—the land of hardcore capitalism—you can't do that there. There, you work 12-hour shifts for someone else and try to convince yourself it's fine.
This place is the last bastion of anarchy, freedom, wildness, and sunshine. 🙂
Anyone looking for fast cash can just head to Dubai for a few years and go into prostitution. It might be a little late for me, but it isn't for you; you're still young enough. 😛

??

🙂

Actually, no—voting is definitely important.
Drew Lewis2, I know I've posted it a hundred times, but what can I do? It's dear to me. 🙄 😁

Has anyone here actually attended a Romani funeral?
I have.
I was at one after my girlfriend’s mother took her own life.

By the way—on the local forums, the thread about the city's Romani community is still locked because the mods can't handle it.

Ugh, sounds awful. What makes a Romani funeral unique?

Ashley Grant66 said:Really? I don't know much about them—honestly, they don't sound particularly post-punk, nor are they even discussed much in those circles—but there’s something there. During a superficial listen, only one track really stuck in my head; "Tomorrow" is actually quite good. And I'm seeing hidden nods everywhere—they have *154* on their album cover, which might be a little tribute to Wire, whom everyone was essentially ripping off back then. 😁 :tonycetinski:

So, I see they’ve finally added a link to Faun Fables (I was listening to Light of a Vaster dark).

Hibernation Tales

These guys? They’re probably the one band I’d actually give my money to if they were still touring. But they’re gone—end of story. Nils and his wife have moved on to Faun Fables now, while the drummer and the violinist went their own ways. Rabbit rabbit.
Nils is still holding onto it for now. Free salamander exhibit? Seems too good to be true—but I suppose if you've got nothing better to do this weekend, why not?
And Carla—the violinist—was also somewhat involved in that. Charming hostess. If I’m following this correctly—
And here they are, too. tin hat (trio), Two feet of yard space? Hardly enough to call it a lawn., The Book of Knots. Simple enough, right? Yet, there's an entire philosophy tucked between those pages—a study of tension, friction, and how much pressure a single point can actually take before everything unravels. It’s more than just utility; it's about structure. Or perhaps, more accurately, it's about control. There are plenty of guests involved—take this Blixa track, for instance. :D
Mostly just a creative bunch.

Steven Newman50 said:Well, look who finally decided to show up. Who's back in our midst? 👋 Welcome back, Drew Lewis2. 😁

NP: Welcome Back, Al PacinoThe album dropped today. That music video came out about two weeks ago—we've just been waiting for it to actually hit the streaming services. 🙂

Alright, here’s Blixa—he even cleaned himself up a bit. :D

The Durutt column

:f

That band has such a beautiful sort of sadness to them :/ I believe that track was actually a tribute to Ian Curtis—they shared the same stage, even if their sound didn't exactly fit the vibe there😁 I stumbled upon them through a weird cover by Espers, where I was once and then again completely obsessed for six months straight
I recall reading somewhere that Vini was struggling financially—that they were actually collecting donations for him :/

Ashley Grant66 said:Protomartyr - Processed By the boys

So, a friend just clued me in yesterday... we were reading the comments under the video and couldn't figure out why all these intense brazilians were losing their minds. Turns out the video is a direct nod to some obscure Brazilian meme that only they get—something from some trashy national TV show from ten years ago 🙏 yet the band is American, right? It’s totally unclear why they decided to reference and recreate that in their video.
Naturally, I had to track down the original video 🤣
I felt a strange sense of kinship with Brazilians through this little pop culture moment! It’s almost like if someone here took a clip from Malnar's nightmare and dropped it into a music video.

Anyway, I like the band—plenty of diverse influences, but everything fits together well. The track above gives off Idles vibes, but this one is excellent; the vocalist reminds me of Cave.

wow, going from total absurdity to something strangely profound. they're actually pretty interesting

Dennis Hall41 said:At a solid—at times even exceptional—concert they played at the local arena, Fleet Foxes obviously didn't perform what is likely the most beautiful song of their career. Instead, they gave us a bunch of pretentious, rambling filler from their current Crack-Up album (though even Helplessness blues wasn't neglected here).
I suppose some hipster from Pitchfork told them they needed to be more "multi-layered" in that specific track.
They did throw out maybe 10-15 absolute gems from their catalog—half of which are from the debut or the EP—but that unplayed Kept Woman would leave almost everything else in the dust.

To me, this last concert sounded pretty rough, though the first one was perfection.🙏 Perhaps I just had too high expectations because of the first one.
