He can barely manage to overtake Torpedo halfway through the race... 🤦

Valtteri Bottas is a HUGE surprise!! It was pretty much expected for Mercedes to take P1 and P2.

I think a reality check is coming for Bottas. Once we hit Bahrain, he’ll likely find himself stuck behind Lewis after just one lap, only to get a pit call—either way too early or way too late—that completely ruins his race just to mess with the guy behind him. It really makes you wonder about the state of these races.

Daniel Ricciardo isn't exactly cheap. It wasn't just about him feeling like he was stuck in that number two role; even Christian Horner didn't see Ricciardo having the appetite to pull in upwards of $20 million. 🙂

You handled that just like you always do—dodging the issue while maintaining an incredibly impressive level of class. Honestly, when you run out of actual answers, the easiest move is just to tell someone they’re talking nonsense or acting like a troll.

Maybe I'm just the idiot here, but I still haven't figured out how you can constantly turn a blind eye to Vettel's nonsense without getting bored.

Vettel followed the racing line, so how can they possibly blame him for that?
Leclerc dove into the corner way too late, right after Vettel had already claimed his line.
The way this turn is shaped, Vettel shifts left right as he enters, which allows him to nail the ideal racing line.
It’s easiest to pull up right alongside the driver when they least expect it. You just slide in there and tell them, "Hey, in that tiny 0.2-second window, I was right next to you—you basically had to let me pass."
That’s the trouble when you try to follow racing through a screen. You just can't feel the actual rhythm and flow of the corners.

Richard Walker38 said:Those photos of yours look great because they capture the cars while they're still heading toward the turn, so they don't really reflect what happened later. You're trying to defend Sebastian Vettel by claiming he had no choice, saying Max Verstappen was right there next to him and all that, but the track space next to Vettel was wide open. All he did was squeeze his teammate and force him off the track. Max was a full car length behind Vettel, and there was nothing but empty track beside him.

Kazes, so you're saying he should have just steered right into Max? Where exactly was Max at the moment Vettel cuts off his teammate and pushes him off? I'd love for you to walk me through that logic.

As they enter the corner, that Max he supposedly should have turned into is actually behind him. 🤷

The screenshot you posted shows them side-by-side.
Watch the actual video; it gives a much clearer picture.
If we rely solely on screenshots, it'll end up looking like the drivers defending themselves are wrong in 98% of situations.

You can clearly see how Charles Leclerc dove into the corner too late while trying to pull alongside Sebastian Vettel. He didn't really establish his position next to him until they were already deep in the turn, right where the chicanes begin.
I honestly don't see why anyone would pin this on Vettel.
Leclerc just missed his window to set up the overtake properly.

Ferrari is making a huge mistake by playing protector for Sebastian Vettel. He’s lost that edge; he just can't find that consistent rhythm of rapid laps anymore. I honestly worry about how many races Charles Leclerc is going to waste by being stuck behind him, never actually getting a fair shot at overtaking.
Leclerc looks desperate. It’s only the first race of the season, and he's already questioning if he's even allowed to pass Sebastian. 😁

Like how he conveniently forgot the team protected Sebastian Vettel from losing his position, or how he ignored how many times Vettel aggressively squeezed his teammate at the start, nearly putting him in a terrible spot because Charles Leclerc had a much better launch and clearly knew exactly where Charles Leclerc was by Turn 1.

It’ll be interesting to watch Sebastian Vettel's season fall apart.

Charles Leclerc put himself in an awkward spot here.
That’s a tight corner, and you can't really expect to make a move from the outside.
Sebastian Vettel has to slow down significantly to give the other driver enough room. That's just the nature of that turn.

If Pierre Gasly gets the boot before Monaco and Daniil Kvyat steps into his seat, the odds of that scenario playing out increase exponentially. 😉

Gasly will end up causing trouble for Max once he's kicked out of the team in a few months.
You'll be saying the exact same thing about Kvyat soon enough. 😁

Mercedes-Benz is looking stronger than they were last year.
When Lewis Hamilton mentions his tires are falling off, you know he’s being dead serious. He was complaining about tire degradation back in lap 28, yet by lap 55, he’s out there hunting for the fastest lap.
He manages to push those tires for 30 laps and still holds off Max Verstappen without breaking a sweat.
It feels like Mercedes-Benz has some extra HP tucked away that they only deploy when they feel like it, which is honestly pretty demoralizing for everyone else on the grid. They're just too fast to even need it most of the time.

I honestly can’t stand the FIA or Liberty Media right now. From where I’m sitting, the way they're handling car tracking looks even worse than last year. 🤦

I don't quite get it—the cars were actually following much more easily this time. If we didn't see more overtaking, it’s purely because of the track layout. It's just too tight, and there aren't enough long straights to really make a move.
I'm not expecting a total revolution from the Williams Racing regulations, but I am looking for improvements—and honestly, we're starting to see them.

What amateurs.🤣

The odds are way too high, but there is zero chance Kimi catches the fastest lap.
If Sauber were just a little bit faster, maybe. But the gap to the top teams is massive. Mercedes and Ferrari are putting up solid laps, and those times are simply untouchable for the best driver in a Sauber.

FP3 will be the real indicator here. The Ferrari crew needs to dial in that engine and get everything dialed for qualifying. There’s no way they’re going to keep sandbagging like this during tomorrow's practice sessions.

Ferrari is looking much faster than the data suggests, though RB still holds the edge.
Is Ferrari actually quicker than Mercedes-Benz? They're definitely in the conversation. Honestly, if they manage to grab pole, I think Vettel might just pull it off.
Ferrari’s ground effect setup seems to be struggling, but Vettel is incredible—he’s squeezing every ounce of performance out of that car whenever he can push the limits.
I'm predicting pole position by about a tenth, mostly thanks to a massive lap from Vettel.

Patriots.
I remember flipping through a trivia book years ago and stumbling upon an NFL page. It featured photos of all the different team helmets, and for some reason, the New England Patriots one just stuck with me. I've been a fan ever since.

Fastest laps aren't the true measure of a car's pace. And if you're trying to use Kimi as a benchmark, today's performance from him just doesn't make sense—the guy couldn't even pull away from Lewis during those first 23 laps. That was a complete disaster. If Vettel had been behind the wheel instead of Kimi, we probably would've seen a repeat of Spa, where Vettel likely would have cruised to a win by about 10 seconds.
Besides, the way Kimi drives isn't exactly ideal when it comes to tire management. He carries a fair bit of the blame for the rubber issues himself. In his post-race comments, Lewis mentioned that Kimi was taking poor lines through Lesmo and Parabolica—essentially hitting the worst parts of the corners for tire wear—which is exactly why he struggled so much with grip.
Vettel also admitted he was struggling with the car. He noted that the handling just wasn't there, so using Vettel’s lap times as a point of comparison isn't really a fair assessment either.

Lewis stayed glued to Kimi, but he just couldn't find a way past him. Throughout the first 23 laps of the opening stint, he didn't make a single move to attack. It all felt a bit lackluster, mostly just closing the gap until they hit the final stretch toward the finish line.

#DontCrackUnderPressure

#DontCrackUnderPressure Back then u RB, he was driving a car that had great launches and enough pace to break away from the pack after just two or three laps.
That’s why he looked so phenomenal; he wasn't even being put in positions where he'd make rookie mistakes.
