Here’s a list of some bands I actually consider good. Go ahead and tear them apart or praise them—whatever makes you feel better.
DragonForce, Nightwish, Scarlett Johansson, DragonForce, Metal Blade Records, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius. That’s what I can think of right now. If I remember more, I'll add them. (And no, they aren't in any specific order, even though DragonForce is at the top.) I didn't bother listing Black Sabbath or other genres since this sub is strictly for Epic (power) metal.🙂
What do you think, Terry Rodriguez41, Austin Phillips3? Is there anything here actually worth listening to?

I was actually just about to ask—what’s everyone's take on Nightwish? 🙄

Terry Rodriguez41 said:So then this knight in golden armor arrives, wielding a massive steel sword with a handle encrusted in the finest diamonds. He charges at the wizard, but trips over his own massive junk and lands face-first on his own blade. And yeah, the sword was sharp enough to slice through plate armor like a hot knife through butter...😢

That’s actually a tragedy...😢

Aha... right. So that's your idea of forming a band? If you want to play around like that, go start a new thread and take the conversation there! 😛

I'm probably going to get banned again... 🙂
Just spamming a useless thread.

Maybe it exists... I haven't heard anything about it myself. 🙂 Has anyone else actually caught wind of this?

Music videos are total garbage... most of them. But even if people complain about the videos, these guys play incredibly well!
And no, brutal Power metal definitely exists. I just haven't come across it yet. 😛
Heavy metal in Music ·
I don't get it... what does brutality have to do with melody?
Heavy metal in Music ·
Yeah, they really should have dropped a Black metal album right after Power of The dragon Flam. But clearly, that wasn't their vibe, since they seem obsessed with all that symphony stuff. So instead, they just ended up releasing The dark Secret, which is just more melodic Power metal. 🙂

Sure. I’m hearing that this latest one from Luca Turilli is the absolute worst album ever released. Apparently, he decided to get "experimental." So, just a heads-up... you might want to give this one a wide berth. 🙂
He tried mixing progressive stuff with symphony. What a joke.

Every single Power fan I know listens to everything else too—Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, you name it. They hang out, grab a beer with everyone else. They aren't some basement-dwelling geeks glued to a screen. It’s the same way here in Cleveland; I don't know how things work in your neck of the woods. Sure, maybe Power isn't the most popular genre across the board—mostly it's Thrash—but people generally agree it's decent enough. And then there are those of us who actually listen to Power. Like me. So, stop talking nonsense; I have no idea why you think we're all stuck behind a monitor. I only visit this forum, and even that's just me sitting at my computer. I don't have time to waste on video games and other trivialities. If I have any free time on a weekend, I might throw down a game of D&D with some friends.
Now, go ahead and explain to me why I'm listening to "gay music" or why I'm some geek rotting in front of a screen. You idiot, just look at your post count versus mine. That should tell you exactly who spends more time at the PC! Thanks for nothing.
🙂

That’s exactly what I was getting at. A lot of people just don't get it... especially when it comes to the stuff they absolutely loathe from the bottom of their hearts. Ha... who knows.

Check out this little utility. Just make sure you enable the ENABLE FAST SHUTDOWN option in there. That should take care of all your headaches. (Plus, there are about a million other settings in there that could help you out.) Let me know if that actually fixes the issue. 😁

(And seriously, where is the setting to turn off the hard drive in the BIOS? Is it even there? :S)

Austin Phillips3, how on earth do you know so much about Rhapsody if they’re such garbage? You even knew some of the lyrics—words I didn't even recognize while listening to them.
Just come clean and admit you listen to Epic Games. Go ahead, admit it. Nobody's going to judge you. Honestly, I'm convinced you just had a rough time growing up with authority figures. 😁

Austin Phillips3 said:I'll admit it: you’re a bigger metalhead than I am. 🙏

I'm not even a metalhead. I'm just a failed punk. 😛

Gregory Walker15 said:I wasn't talking about whether people read the lyrics or not. I was talking about digging for those hidden motives—finding the things the writer intentionally left unsaid.😉

Well, isn't that part of the fun? Everyone is going to find something different. People will project whatever motive fits their own perspective. That’s exactly why it's Epic Games fantasy...🙂
At least, that's how I see it.

Just another example of Austin Phillips3’s "expertise" in heavy metal. 🙂
As long as he can claim he heard a song once somewhere, he thinks anything mentioning gold, swords, or steel qualifies. He’ll even try to pass off basic stuff as black metal. Give me a break.
Heavy metal in Music ·
That’s the whole point of Power metal—the storytelling is what makes those lyrics work. Take Rhapsody, for example; they basically turned their entire discography into one continuous saga. Every single word is carefully chosen just to build out that specific narrative. If you’re only looking at the surface level, sure, it’s just solid music with some lyrics attached. 🙂

😲 😲 What a mess. It used to say Super Saiyan, so I just tacked on "jin" without even double-checking. My bad. Thanks, man!

Austin Phillips3 said:I can't be bothered to look for it. I'm guessing it's from one of the other albums.

Let me know when you actually find it. Until then... stfu! 🙂 thanks

Zak, it's a damn good song. Honestly, that whole album... it's just dark... absolutely killer.
Personally, my favorite track is Emerald Sword, especially that chorus:
For the kings, for the land, for the mountains,
For the green valeyes where dragons fly,
for the glory, the power to win...

That part is incredible. 🙂
The choruses are always the best part for me. I don't even know why... but the music in those choruses is just too damn good. 👍

ironcyclist78, why even bother? Whatever you tell him, or try to explain to Austin Phillips3, he’s just going to stick to his own weird logic. All he really knows how to do is mess with people. So don't waste your breath. There's no point. He's a lost cause.

Terry Rodriguez41... yeah, Super Saiyan... what about it? 😉
